RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

Don't play them at Scrabble.

 I bet they are the only club who can provide enough amusing related words to fill up a scrabble board

As I've said, Moneyball can't be applied to football.

And most of Dalglish's buys can't be described as moneyball.

Haha isn't money ball about finding undervalued players?

I'm mean they payed way too much for Downing and Carroll and even Henderson was a bit expansive for his abilities the only one they probably payed a fair price for was Adams but it's not as if they got him under value.

It's like they doing moneyball in reverse.

I think moneyball is about replacing people on the aggregate. You don't need star signings because you can take undervalued players that can excel at one particular trait and recreate his overall contribution that way. In a way, we've kind of succeeded in doing that by signing Valencia and Hernandez.

But with Andy fecking Carroll in the picture? I don't think the term value should be anywhere near that name.

Interesting to have a semi-sensible Liverpool fan speaking on You're on Sky Sports.

Plech with his in-and-out glimpse of genius. Deserves its own thread.

It's ridiculous.

Quite simply it's just some dropkick 'journalist' or whatever he thinks he is has clutched at several straws in a vain attempt to somehow explain the ridiculous sums of money Dalglish blew on all those duds.

I mean the mere fact he makes up his own rule which, of course, overrides all the actual laws of the theory - just to suit his feeble argument - is enough reason to laugh at this... Not to mention all the other bollox arguments, like using the fact that Dutch and Brazilian players are overpriced as an excuse for buying British.

I mean seriously, the whole thing is literally one of the poorest articles regarding Football that I have ever read. It's just ridiculously incorrect.

That United supporter in the comments ripped the absolute shit out of it quite brilliantly. He obviously knows what's going on...

Which Wenger could be accused of, too - the comments on his selling at just the right time seem justified to me

As opposed to your attack on me for pulling the bould Paddy Viera for his asinine attacks on United.

I don't care what you have to say about Vieira regarding his outbursts... If he's going to be caught, or is deliberately saying controvercial/United related stuff to the media then it's fair game I say.

But using that as an example against Roy 'blowhard' Keane is hilarious. Christ he even came out and out-did Vieira a few days later with some other comments about United and Ferguson. Meanwhile Vieira makes his remarks due to the fact he's employed by United's direct title rivals.

Fair enough that Keane was probably asked though, and he's obviously the kind that speaks his mind... Refreshing really, though you guys seem not to like it.

Yeah, United has made a huge mistake in not selling on Giggs, Scholes, VDS and Rio before their value dropped. Thank god we managed to cash in on Pique, Gibson, O'Shea and Brown!

At least we didn't screw up as bad as Milan with Maldini and Inter with Zanetti.

Players like those you mentioned are class acts.

The likes of Vieira, Henry, Pires, Gilberto, Pettit, etc. who were all class acts for us over their careers would have been able to contribute much more to the side had they stayed.

That's one problem with rules, the exception to the rule are usually the most important moments, and the players that are the exceptions to the rule are the most valuable.
