Ravel Morrison (Only football related)

The judge said this at his most recent appearance

“I’ve been given a glowing report on you. It indicates you have attended all of your appointments, you are working with Manchester United and the youth team to improve your maturity and, in particular, you are dealing with anger-management issues. In group work, I’m told you have engaged positively with other young people. Someone in your position has achieved a deal of fame – you can use that to make the world a better place and, if this referral order makes you understand that, it can only be a good thing.”

I saw that, rather frustrating the way it was reported when comments like that get ignored for the more sensationalist ones.

Interesting that DT also seems adamant that neither Pogba or Morrison are pencilled in for the US Tour.

That interview with DT is a very good read. Might be worth cross-posting in the mains to provide some balance for the rabid "Taylor is ABU" crew.

Another positive comment from him on the Morrison court case:

But there are at least the first signs that he might slowly beginning to ‘get it.’ I’ve got to be honest, he really didn’t look like he could give a shit when he was in court for the witness intimidation case. But at his court case this week he was in a suit, he hadn’t brought any of his hangers-on with him and, overall, he just seemed a little bit older and wiser. The reports from the youth offending team were all positive and – if it was genuine – there was no longer that sense that he thought he was untouchable.

Who'd have thunk it? Teenage boy in growing up shocker. Puts some of the earlier comments in this thread in perspective.

Would it be inaccurate to describe Ravel as a Joe Cole type of player? Attacking midfielder full of flair, can do a job on either flank but excels behind the striker, with dribbling ability and finishing.

He can play anywhere across the midfield or behind the striker. Pretty two footed, deceptive turn of pace, plays the game at his own pace and is unpredictable in possession.

It would be awesome to see him play for the first team next season. The sort of magic player that we've been missing in midfield.

i hope the gaffer will slowly introduce ravel to first team football next season..

he could be our key player in 3 or 4 years time.

I would compare him more to a young Paul Gascoigne, deceptively quick, deceptively strong and a bit of devil in his play.

Have we had any confirmation if he will be travelling to the states or not?

Yep the squad was announced on the Official Site, his name wasn't in it.

Comes as no surprise really. He's just out of the youth ranks and we shouldn't expect him to leapfrog senior players quite this early

I would have preferred a couple of the younger players to be on the tour instead of players like Diouf and Obertan who I don't see as having a long term future at the club.

But not a bad shop window for them which is probably why they've been included.Morrison is going to around for a long while I hope

Gabriel Obertan is talented enough to play for us - I would say his problem is 20% lack of experience and 80% mentally. So I can see why Ferguson hangs onto him and brings him to tours like this - if they can sort his head out and give him some confidence - he could be a sensation.

But of course - he is running out of chances!

If it were the other way around I'd say yes, in an instant. Sadly I don't believe he has the temperament

A sensation?

I think he could be good if he sorted his head out. I remember when he scored that screamer in Europe for us he was very quiet up until that goal. After the goal you could see he was suddenly confident, chest puffed out and he literally run the game for the last 20 mins. His one touch passing was excellent and he's displayed this a lot for the reserves.

I'm a big fan of his and don't want to go OTT as I tend to do with him, but if he had the self belief, I think we'd see a completely different player.

He's got a head like a quaver. Perhaps you mean a taste sensation?

He is exceptionally talented with the ball at his feet - probably just as much as Nani, Young and Valencia - but he seems to lack the belief that he can make it.

Fair enough, nice to hear a different opinion.

I don't see any of that personally, but am happy to be totally wrong.

 you cant have seen much of him so? The lad literally glides across the pitch, a joy to watch imo.

I thought we were talking about Obertan...that's what the qoute was from...regarding Obertan.

If we're talking about Morrison then he is the best youth product I have seen in fecking years and totally agree with the statement.

his ball control is brilliant! he glides past players, brilliant technique!

I'm confused now...who? Obertan or Morrison. The lads above were talking about Obertan...not Morrison.

If the above is describing Morrison then I totally agree.

If it's Obertan I must be watching something different??

To clarify anyway, I think Morrison is one the best talents I've seen here since the fledglings came through.

oh my bad for not reading properly, i thought you meant Morrison. Obertan also has skills, but he seems to be very fragile mentally!

Re: Obertan

Completely agree. In those rare spells when he plays with confidence he's a different player. Just a shame they're so few and far between.

I don't doubt Obertan is a decent player, Fergie and his scouts must have seen something in the lad to bring him here.

Obertan could be a great player. It really depends on if he can handle it. He needs to steer clear of injury and i'm glad he's on tour as he linked up well with Welbeck last time and I'm hoping we see a confident player.

Ravel Morrison, Manchester United's immensely talented but troubled young footballer, has been interviewed by police over new allegations of harassment.

Morrison, ranked as potentially one of the pre-eminent footballers of his generation, is already the subject of a 12-month referral order after two court cases within the past six months, and the 18-year-old has been warned that if he breaks that order he will be sent to prison for a year.

He has also been advised by a district judge to seek counselling about domestic abuse after twice being arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend – both cases were dropped because she would not give evidence – and receiving a police caution for assaulting his mother.

The latest case follows a complaint from the family of a teenage mugging victim who gave evidence against two of Morrison's friends in a robbery trial last year.

In January Morrison admitted two charges of intimidating a witness after subjecting the same boy to a two-day ordeal to try to stop him from going to court. He had been warned he could face a spell in detention but the judge decided to allow him to continue his football career. The victim was described at the time as so traumatised his family wanted to leave Manchester.

Morrison, an England youth international, has become an intense source of frustration at Old Trafford because of the frequency with which he has embroiled himself in trouble, and the sense that he is not doing everything he should to make the most of what is a rare talent.

The teenager made his United debut in a Carling Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers last season and there is a genuine belief within the club that he if he can knuckle down he has the ability to be a formidable player.

Morrison showed flashes of that talent during United's victorious run in last season's FA Youth Cup and there had been encouraging feedback from Salford's youth offending team lately about an apparent improvement in his behaviour.

The teenager has denied any further wrongdoing and was not arrested, attending Swinton police station on Tuesday morning by appointment, but he was asked to sign a letter outlining the seriousness of the issue and warning him he could be charged if he was found to be committing an offence. Morrison was accompanied by a solicitor and advised to stay away from the college where the alleged victim studies.

Morrison was meant to be involved in United's reserve game at Shrewsbury last weekend but, after initially being named on the squad list, he was withdrawn at the last moment, with no explanation offered. Nor did he play for the reserves at Fleetwood on Wednesday night

At the end of last season he apologised on his Twitter account for having sent derogatory tweets during and after the club's player-of-the-year awards dinner.

Morrison sent one message from the event, describing it as "shit", and the next day he was equally unimpressed, taking issue with everything apart from Ryan Tunnicliffe being named youth-team player of the year. Morrison wrote: "What a load from last nights awardss well done tunnerz tho appart from *** - Shit"

Your honor, I call for a writ of "Boys will be boys."

I can't even work out what's going on now and what's supposedly old news from that article. Is the complaint from the family of the witness intimidation case again? Seems all along they were unhappy that he didn't get sent to jail originally, no doubt trying again to get him in trouble further. I reckon a chance encounter with the "victim" which they'll try to paint as harassment or something along those lines.
