Ravel Morrison (Only football related)

Game ended 2-0. Pogba was an absolute class above, missed a pen but put in the rebound. 30 minute cameo from Ravel was very interesting. At one point he just decided he wanted to score and ran past half the side and had a shot saved. There were some nice turns, had another shot saved after cutting inside well. All in all, when he came on he made us tick a lot more going forward and joined Pogba (and to an extent Drinkwater) in looking way better than anyone else

Any updates on him? From what manutdreserves says on Twitter there seems to be some more rumors doing the rounds about Ravel - though I thought he'd picked up an injury somewhat recently which explains his absence.

not heard why hes not playing (injury seems most likely possibility) but the twitter rumour of his disappearance has been disproved because he was at the u18s game last Saturday.

He was doing kick ups at the youth game against Pompey and was shown on Camera doing so.

saw him on bike on shrewsbury St. Old Trafford, couple of days ago, just near the flower shop where the recent stabbing hapPened :annoyed:, got to say his company was not the best of people.

Ah no! Sounds to me like he might've joined the society of invisible kids who only reveal themselves for BMX-by stabbings near flower shops. I've read about them. I've always defended Ravel, but if this is true, he's dead to me.

Riding a bike near Old Trafford? Has to be the ultimate vilification of him:mad:

Great find! The thought of him putting it all together is very exciting...

When is this lad going to make the step up and get some games for the first team?

18 years old now and when you see someone like Phil Jones stepping into the back four at 19, is there any thoughts that this next 12 months could be the start of something for Morrison?

I'd love to see it. But when he's been seen Bmxing round Salford precinct with his homeboys, you can't imagine he has the profession quite yet...

Yeah I have heard how frustrating he is.

Just wondered where he is upto with us really as I don't follow the youth/reserve/academy enough to know.

The past few seasons have looked so promising with the likes of Fabio, Rafael, Smalling, Cleverly, Jones and Welbeck coming to the surface and just wondered if Morrison was a million miles away hmself.

If he can't find encouragement from the above he is daft as a brush

Apparently he's absolutely the real deal, but really needs to buckle down, which he seems to have a hard job doing. I think it's a possibility he may get a Carling cup game or three this year.

In my view - football-wise good enough to be part of the first team squad already. Whether it's a good idea to be placing him so firmly in the spotlight with that kind of nationwide attention is another matter.

Is a good answer...

I agree with what you say, but I also think it may be good to give him the exposure. It may make him realise how good it is to be a professional football and may make him buckle down and work hard.

He needs to mature. Who knows when they will be? We all hope it's sooner rather then later but when you expose him to the worlds media, the cnuts probably won't leave him alone. We know what they were like with Rooney. It was obsessive and so that's a worry. We have to handle him correctly and i'm sure we will.

There is no real need to rush Morrison, especially given the emergence of Cleverley; the only reason he's being talked about as a potential first teamer now is because he's so good. There are other factors against him at this moment in time, though. He's very inexperienced (only just made the full-time step up from the academy), has had several off the field issues and has played very little competitive football recently.

It'd be disappointing if he didn't get some league cup football, though. You'd think at least a couple of Pogba, Morrison, Macheda, Petrucci et al would be given some time in the competition.

Interesting that Phil Brogan reckons his best position is in central mid as he always needs the ball. But he also says he is equally at home on the wings or behind the striker. Also says he is the best youth player he has seen in his 12 years at the club. Theres been a bit of debate on here as to his best position so good to know he will be pushing Cleverly for his spot in a a year or so.
Mark Chapman also give Interesting quote from Paddy Crerrand who says Morrison has magic in his feet. Just hope the boy can control his demons like Rooney and Keane were able to and not let it wreck him in the same way players like Best, Gillespe and Gazza were ruined.

Yup you can argue from both sides - either the recognition will make him realise what he could screw up if he doesn't focus, or it could be too much too soon. There's definitely a balance to be struck between rewarding him for good progress as well as protecting him from the attention he will inevitably attract. Can only trust Fergie that he'll get that balance spot on.

Yeah he could play any attacking position really, and be dangerous from them too. He can run with the ball at pace, do tricks to beat players, run in behind defences, finish well and control games from the middle. But as the guy says, you want him on the ball as often as possible, so the middle is where I'd imagine he'll end up.

The last point is why I think if he knuckles down this season his path to the first team will be more straight forward. Pogba is at his best by far in middle of the park, he has put in some decent performances in the reserves recently on the right but can't see him playing for the first team there. Morrison however could be brought through on either wing which is less responsibility than being thrown into the centre.

Really hoping he recovers from his injury in time to play a bit of reserve football and hopefully get in the squad for the Leeds game.

Injured, from what I've read around the internets.

Don't know if this was updated but Morrison was earmarked for the US Tour. Then withdrawn. I don't know why this was the case. He was also being lined up for a loan move to Watford. Not sure if this will go ahead now.

He absolutely was considered for the US tour - the journos are wrong. That may have been the line spun by the club to protect him.

Watford is also true but not sure if it is still a possibility. Not sure if he is being rested now or if he is injured. I hear injured but these days you can't be so sure!

Comparing Morrison to those others isn't really comparative!

And you know this how? Are you claiming to be ITK yet don't know whether he's injured or not?

His best position will be central midfield or as a trequartista. He can do everything. On the football field he is completely different to life. He is definitely a team player and knows where everyone on the field is.

Yes, he can do everything with the ball, left foot, right foot. He is quick enough (I don't believe he's as quick as Giggs at the same age) but he scores amazing goals with both left and right feet. In fact, he makes scoring look easy.

He also sets up other players. With Nani I feel that he'll take on a situation when another player is in a better position. Rooney will ALWAYS pass to the other player. Same with Morrison!
