Ravel Morrison (Only football related)

Special players get special consideration. Ravel has bags of potential for his age so perhaps deserves more leeway.

I am pretty sure patience would be running thin now though. If he is found guilty then perhaps he has used up his final chance.

Its absolutely true. Back around 1960 the infamous Manchester United Water Pistol Gang (mentioned again in Johnny Giles autobiography) was terrorising Manchester) :nono:

More "discretion" will always be shown to young players with a lot of talent than will be shown to young players who are mediocre. And indeed even great football managers like Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson had/have "favourites" who are allowed more space.
But way back in the 1960s I used to read that Busby, Jimmy Murphy and Joe Armstrong carried out background checks on families etc. In the mid 1950s and 1960s, life in Manchester, Salford, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Barnsley, Ashington and Dudley had a lot of disadvantages.
And a lot of folks including perhaps you or I did ok because of strong decent families and/or the opportunities we got thru (say) education......or football. There is no connexion that says that bad circumstances produce bad people.

But people who dont fully take advantage of golden opportunities are a different matter.
And even in Uniteds squad there are "heroes" we would happily call scumbags if they joined another club. Because frankly they are already "scumbags".
I was never a sows ear. I am not a silk purse now.
But Football has been a means of turning a few lives around. And a lot of big clubs ..Manchester United included deserve a lot of credit for turning lives around.

But there is a limit.
More latitude will be given to superstars. Less to Academy players on the border line between making it and not making it.
A point where the Accountants get involved as much as the Coaches.
Joey Barton was always going to make it.
Jamie Tandy?

Thats the same with club discipline AND the criminal courts.
And the "nature" of the "crime" is a factor.
A youth team star convicted of.....passing dud cheques.... is at an advantage over a youth team star convicted of grievous bodily harm.
And the Publics understandable reaction to sexual assault, spousal abuse, drunk driving is a factor.
Things get extremely complicated when a player can be worth £50 million or has even the potential to be worth that kinda money.
The Public at large.....journalists......supporters......even coaches might want a contract torn up and a player sacked. But I doubt if the accountants would let it happen.
Yet it all boils down to the situation where the ASSET becomes a LIABILITY.
And doing something BEFORE that happens.

And.. (This is the tweet I thought would have been posted after I saw the thread bumped)

"lad no 1 beat up a girl have u never heard of papers talking shit get a life and stop hating mate !!"

Twitter

On twitter: What a load from last nights awardss well done tunnerz tho appart from *** - Shit

I'm not positive that's a legit account, but if so, he's an idiot.

'***' is the word 'd.a.t.', for those who haven't seen the tweet.

The guy sounds like a dick. Given everything that has gone on, you'd think some good P.R. would be a priority of his. Obviously not.

For us that dont live in the ghetto, why would 'd.a.t' be *'d out? :wenger: I assume it's short for 'that'?

I want to reply with something slangy that I think means thank you, but at the risk of accidentally propositioning you for sex/saying something accidentally racist I'll have to stick with cheers :)

Yeah, datura posted that 2 days ago. It seems people were too eager to call him a dick to notice.

I don't know what's going to happen to Ravel next season, hopefully he'll be available. I'm not sure he's going to be ready for the first team just yet. On that basis and after today, here's a suggestion or my opinion. Blackpool will lose Charlie Adam, they'll need a midfielder who can score goals and be creative. Whist it's a bit close to home as such, I actually think Ravel could be a replacement for Adam for Blackppol for next season at the least.

It would also possibly help him, if Holloway can get hold of him, and show him how bad life can be, I think it could be the making of Ravel. It is my own opinion, and as they are in the Championship it would mean plenty of games etc. As I said before this is my opinion, and whilst others might shoot me down, as Blackpool has it's own dstractions and isn't too far away from home as such, I just think that a run in a team, and a chance to play in a team that should perform well at that level, will do him more good than harm.

I just can't see Fergie letting him go on loan, which in a way might improve his chances in the first team.

given the character ravel is, letting him go on loan is perhaps the last thing on sir alex's mind..he will stay and play for the reserves next season..we will see how he will develop from there. if he impress, then he will get his chance..

It's really in Morrison's hands as to what he wants out of football, life in general.

He is phenomenal. Love watching him play. Too good for youth level, fingers crossed he steps up.

:nervous:

All this praise to give out. Creative, deceptively quick. Good passing. Disappointed to come off (good to see) but took it well enough. Scores goals

Is he as good as people make out?

People should watch the kids, seriously the football they play in a lot of games is outstanding and Morrison 'could' be a United legend oneday.

Every time we are in possession, I want whoever is in possession to give the ball to him... his style of play is just a sight to behold. He makes everything look so easy and there is a grace about him, his technique is so fluid, everything from his ball control, balance, change of pace, timing of passes... As an attacking threat he really does have it all!

Daniel Taylor: "Ravel Morrison has just pleaded guilty to charge of criminal damage and fined £600. He denied assaulting girlfriend and charge dropped." Good news.

Good news I suppose? Or will criminal damage kick in his referral order (which I'm assuming is equal to probation)?

If I've got it right: You can be re-sentenced for whatever you got a referral order for if you breach it, but a referral order only requires you to attend various meetings and stuff, you don't breach it by reoffending. The referral order can however be taken into account when you're sentenced for a new offence, but in that case that's already happened for Ravel, and all he got was a fine.

He'd have to apply to the DHS to be granted entry I expect, seeing as he'd be working there.

Bit of a disturbing revelation in Daniel Taylor's newest article:

Morrison denied assaulting Reah Dixon, then 16, and the case was dropped after Salford magistrates court was told she had refused to make a statement.

However, the court also heard that it was the second time the 18-year-old had been arrested for assaulting her, with another case in 2008 when she also refused to go ahead with the prosecution.

Morrison, who has represented England at every level from the under-19s to under-16s and scored twice to help United win the FA Youth Cup on Monday, also has a caution for assaulting his mother, Sharon Ryan, when he was 15.

By my count that makes at least 4 arrests for him, had never heard of the previous assault one.

Seems to me he's just got a problem controlling his temper, some people are talking like he's a feckin gangster. Loads of working class kids get into trouble for the same kind of shit but grow out of it. Hope to feck he grows up quick, concentrates on his footy & reaches his potential!
