I said he'll be loved for his attitude. No one likes to play a Fernandes, Casemiro, Martinez type of player. His first action after coming on was him pressing Gabriel for a ball he wasn't really going to win but it automatically put Gabriel under pressure and led to a hurried pass. He'll be a handful to opponent defenders and it would create much room for other players to operate.
When we have all the players available (at least the majority). There's a lot of ingredient now to become a really good team. I'm calm about our start of the season.

Me too. Wolves made me worry a lot, but subsequently feel much better. It's gotten incrementally better imo.

Now looking forward to Hojlund and then Amrabat and then Mainoo join the action.

As we seem from his short time in Italy , his work rate , pace and ability to hold up the ball has a high ceiling , he is already excelling at those at such a young age.

But to be a real success here he will also have to show instincts and composure in front of goal , this clinical finishing ability is something of a work in progress with him , you are not going to get the full package from a 20 year old and he still has scope form improvement on this very important trait.

But he has shown signs especially with Denmark that the potential is there, we just need to see that potential turn into the real thing. Easier said than done.

Agree, Rasmus started off behind Rashford and overtook him, Martial would have remained behind him, and the gap would have widened. Anthony also did well to be up with them too.

I don't know, I felt one of them should've actually stayed behind to provide Rashford with some help if he got crowded. Both Antony and Hojlund kept running and basically ended up in the same position and were out of the play.

Got a feeling he will quickly become our best player

Just watching his movement you can see there’s goals in him

Ah crap. Are you playing anyone even worse over the next week?
We've got San Marino and Finland. But we've kinda struggled with anyone recently. Of course San Marino is a good chance for Højlund to bag a few goals and we mostly beat Finland in the reverse fixture due to a Højlund hattrick so there's hope.

I'm looking forward to a forward line of Rashford, Højlund, Garnacho with Bruno and Mount in midfield feeding them passes.

Maybe in October.

Great cameo yesterday. How has it taken this long for us to find a young, athletic striker that can give us a focal point. The structure at the club is a joke.

Ok, cool. I’ll watch both of those games.
Good luck, be prepared to watch us pass it slowly amongst ourselves whilst wondering why we can't get through. Although Skov Olsen is currently doing well in Belgium so he might liven proceedings up a bit.

If he keeps showing up with that intensity he will cause all sorts of issues and open up some big spaces for us. I didn't have Gabriel down as a soft touch but he notably struggled in the engagements against Hojlund who looks very quick and strong. At least he was probably surprised. It will be hard to do that for 90 mins for a young striker but we'll see.

We've been pretty shocking recently though.

So you're saying Hojlund is going to have plenty of opportunities to get used to the Utd way of playing in the international games?

I think it’s the case of us having players that didn’t didn’t quite go to plan for one reason or another.

Few years ago, we had a front 3 that on paper, made it look like we were set for years in Rashford, Martial and Greenwood.

You could argue we should have signed a striker last season, after the Greenwood issues and Ronaldo saga (where no one wanted him) - but let’s not forget Martial was great in preseason before falling apart again. Ronaldo leaving October gave us no chance to sign a replacement until Jan, which we Glazers refused to give ETH any money (I believe he wanted Gakpo) and we got Wout.

I for one am glad we missed out on Gapko. I think Højlund will suit us more in the long run. That we had to suffer Wout for a season is fine by me because I think we got a good one now

Never quite interested in International friendlies, but I will definitely check out Amrabat's and Hojlund's performances. Really happy both joined United.

Denmark are playing two qualifying games, not friendlies. I expect Højlund will play in both.

Hojlund looks a fantastic acquisition in the short and long term. For his backup, what a shame we somehow couldn’t have gotten rid of Martial even if it meant keeping Weghorst. There’s not much to be said for Wout, but at least he put in a shift that could be useful in certain situations.

I think it will be Casemiro amrabat and Bruno feeding the passes to Hojlund as a first choice midfield set up. Amrabat will be ten hags press resistant ball carrier, the same as frenkie de jong with the bonus of being more aggressive in everything defensively, will be essential to how we play and will be a fan favourite. Hojlund looks like he will be a superstar. I just loved the way he wanted to engage physically with the centre halves on Sunday and able to overpower them at only 20. Haven’t seen that in years and years from anyone playing centre forward for united.

100% agreed. Whilst he was scoring goals last season, I was never truly convinced. Only seen 30 mins or so of Hojlund - but I like what I see so far - he’s got that Cavani levels of pressing in him

Ok, cool. I’ll watch both of those games.
The danish coach said that he probably won't play Rasmus from the start against San Marino, because he wants him to be ready for the Finland game. I think he will maybe play 30 minutes in the first game, and then be in the starting 11 against Finland.

The cool thing is that while Denmark has played badly, Højlund has still managed to play really well and score 6 times in 4 games. I think he has been brillant in all games for Denmark.

Rasmus (if he is selected) is up against the mighty San Marino on Thursday night.

A team perfect for some stat padding aka Kane's bread and butter.

Made a shitty run when him, Rashford and Antony ran 3v3.
But he looked good, looks willing to press and fight for second balls, which can't be said for Martial. Can't judge his finishing yet, but he'll make chances for us by winning balls up high, so there's progress already there.
Rashford should have released it early, the defender was two yards ahead of Rasmus and rashford could have driven closer inside to Recieved another pass. Wasn’t his fault

Rashford should have released it right away. Then Rasmus went to go behind the defender thinking rashford would play the ball behind the defender. Neither came.
True but at least we can watch him play for Denmark.
Really hope they don’t play him the full game. He’s still working back in

Loved his cameo against Arsenal. Will offer us physical presence upfront which will occupy opposition defenders and he’ll bring the wide men into play. His touch that led to Garnacho offside goal was quality. Seems like he’ll have good link up play. At only 20 years old we’ve got a massive talent on our hands.

Honestly kind of annoyed he isn't starting. Wouldn't have minded watching the match but not bothered if he ain't playing

I think I read a headline saying it's United who gave a restriction to his playing time.

Ramus has the raw ingredients to be a beast. He also seems to have that serious but slightly cocky way about him too. When you hear him speak It feels like he’s totally focused on winning. Obviously his rise has been meteoric and he probably hasn't had too many major distractions or problems up to this point but you feel like he has the temperament and physicality to deliver for a big club, at the very least be someone the opposition always will hate to play against. We’ve been far too soft on defenders since Zlatan/Cavani and Ronadlo was totally the opposite to what this guy will bring. I hope he at least becomes the player i hoped Lukaku would eventually become for us.

Should have an assist already, good hold up back to goal in the box, and unselfish play to find Braithwaite
