I think you have to commit to the vision we have unless ETH goes which seems quite clearly to have the inverted wingers with overlapping full backs. This season I do think people forget how young our attack is as well. It's essentially a 19 year old, a 20 year old and a 23 year old as starters + we've been playing with makeshift LBs and poor RBs for much of the season.

Yeah I agree and personally like inverted wingers, but the attack depends on full backs with real crossing quality. Shaw isnt amazing but is decent and his return might help once hes no longer needed at LB. A top quality RB would change us more than people think. It would also instantly improve whoever plays in front of him

He should shoot more. A few times he gets the ball in a decent position and chooses the technically right option by passing it.

But if you don't shoot you don't score so think he should start having a go a bit more.

It's a tough start, the boy has got something and patience is needed with him. Imo he will start to score

Big goal tonight
Still can't believe he topped off his second solo hat trick of the game by telling Fernandes to start threading him through balls or feck off.

Just a shame that we lost 6-7 but maybe next year...

He’d already have a few goals if his team mates wasn’t so greedy. There’s been many chances he’s open in the middle of the box and the winger shoots.

If you think this guy has promise you haven't a clue about football. Shite footballer.

Spent £70 million for a guy to twerk on defenders.

Was rough for him tonight, a bad performance all things considered. Hoping he'll grow from this

Bad performance. He clearly struggled, but in his defense, it was against Upamecano and KMJ. Not an easy task, especially for an inexperienced 20 year old.

Having a hard time recently. Hard situation. Will be fine long term. But definitely getting some bruises and there's a learning curve.

His confidence has been well and truly drained. This was always the risk of putting all your eggs in the basket of a young inexperienced striker without a guarantee of goals from your other attacking options

Yes he doesn't get enough passes and the players around him have tunnel vision or inability to set him up, but his movement and technical level is a long way from where it needs to be.

Ideally he would be an impact sub at this stage.

He's a 20 year old Wout Weghorst.

He's lucky that the word 'potential' will protect him for a few years yet.

Looks well and truly settled now. A crap United player. Everyone turns into one after a while in the team.

Worrying

I’m all for signing young talents but he’s nowhere near the level we need in a leading striker at the moment.

75m fecking quid

70m euros, crazy that we paid this for a player who doesn't show much potential, will only ever be an average player.

Sad part is that Wout was great in reading where the ball will come. But he was too slow to get there or was just shit to score.

Seen enough of him now to make up my mind. No where near good enough. Seems to have lost the fight as well that he had at the start of the season. One of the many passengers in this team. But less of a problem than McT, Dalot etc

Min-jae and Upamecano, with Neuer sweeping behind and Goretzka mopping up in front, is as tough a defensive unit as it gets. Hojlund didn't play well but it's not a game to be basing any definitive assessments on.

The idea Martial is better is genuinely laughable.

Not one decent cross or ball played into the box. Chasing long balls and high balls all evening. Against 2 strong defenders and a strong midfielder in front.

You could out peak Van Nistlerooy up there and he'd look about as good as Chris Wood.

Its unbelievable that the Glazers have reduced a club that over the years has been home to some many world class strikers to the point that we now have hopeless Hojlund as our main striker
