Manchester United has made an undisclosed offer for Lens defender Raphael Varane, according to
RMC.
The Red Devils face competition for his services though, as Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Lyon have all been tipped to sign the 18-year-old.
But it seems the bid places Sir Alex Ferguson's men ahead of the queue.
Speaking to
France Football of his future, Varane said: "I know I have the choice. I can sign [for a foreign club] and move abroad, or I could join another club in Ligue 1.
"
What interests me is playing regularly and so I have to think carefully and go to a club that will allow me to progress."
The France Under 21 international played 23 times for Lens last term, but could not help it dodge the drop to Ligue 2.
He is tied to the Stade Felix Bollaert-based side until 2015.
