Dutch-Moroccan asked me to post this here

Hello,
Can you please post in the Copa del Rey topic that the dutch commentary said that Varane is on his way to Manchester United?
This commentary is Sierd de Vos and knows very much about Spanish football. He heard this rumours from a very good source!

Thanks

That version of rumour is always happening. A foreign commentator either hears a rumour and goes all in on it or suggests that there are lots of stories about some transfer and it gets picked up as the commentator saying the deal is going to happen. If a transfer this big was going to happen I think other reliable sources would already have flagged it.

Thought he had a bad game against Atletico, which was perhaps the first time I can say that about him from when I've seen him.

Great defender, and would instantly be up their as one of the best defenders in the league. Can't see it happening though.

Can't see it. Pepe is 33, so it's likely he'd be a regular next season.

Plus Jose would love him to replace Terry if he was available.

Sierd de Vos in an idiot. He wants to be the centre of attention even when Messi and Neymar are playing. He just makes things up for attention. Also during his commentary he talks about players dogs, restaurants in the City of the home club and the history of some players (where they come from, name of the parents, favorite food and more). He's most famous for shouting 'KOEKOEK' when someone scores a goal.

However... he doesnt know anything about transfers so i think he just made it up. Cant see Varane leaving Madrid for Manchester.

Why do people have a defensive stance whenever a transfer is in discussion that may be a possible target for Chelsea?
The days of them over paying are long gone or atleast are over taken by us for good or bad. He has an added benefit of being first choice for us.

Was about to say this, he comes closest to Ty from Arsenal tv, absolute moron.

Pepe is 31 and still very good for them, so it could take 1 or 2 more seasons for Varane to be a regular, which could be too much or him. But yeah I also don't think they will sell him and that he will be a starter soon.
Would be my dream target though, if there is a chance, I want us to try everything to get him.

I agree, however he would easily be first choice for them too, Cahill would be warming the bench.

Plus Mourinho is the one who signed him for Madrid, so that could be a factor too.

Doesn't Chelsea have Zouma too? He's pretty good and French as well. Maybe he's planning a Varane - Zouma partnership.

He's just greedy. Mourinho signed Varane when he was on the verge of joining United, just because he could and he admitted as much

This. Hummels is overpriced and overrated. This doesn't mean he's not a good defender, we just have to look other places IMO.
It's not even that he's overrated for me, it's his injury record that worries me. No way should we be paying the quoted prices for a player who seems to miss a big chunk of every season.

Yeah, if anything Madrid will likely be buying a CB rather than losing one, you would think. Unless they love Nacho, I would think think they'll go forward with Varane-Ramos, maybe next year is Pepe's last, then someone like Inigo Martinez, Laporte or a foreign CB will come in to be the 3rd guy.

True. That is one of the reasons I don't think we should go for him

But this is the modern game. We are just not quite willing to accept it yet. In ten years time you will see that constant injury is really just an acceptable part of what we put these lads through.

In ten years time the medical field will make more breakthroughs and we'll see shorter healing times for injuries. I know its the modern game, but some players are just more prone to injury than others. Look at Shawcross' appearance record, he never gets injured!

No way. Look at Terry. I'm surprised if he starts for Chelsea beyond this season. The amount of games played has caught up with him. He has to drop back to cover for his lack of speed and he's very poor 1v1 now. Newcastle just walked all over him.

Yes and Kane, and Frazier Campbell took Cahill to the cleaners. Cahill has had more poor games than Terry this season, hence why he wasn't playing vs Newcastle

Guys, be careful with him. I mean he’s only 21 years, he doesn’t play every game, and he’s playing for a side that doesn’t defend so much. I would love to see him at United but I’m perplex on whether he can handle a game the 1st of January at Stoke City against Crouch, with Walters kicking him, or a Monday night game at St James Park when it’s freezing. He played one big game for France this summer and failed against Germany. So at Madrid he has Ramos and Casillas helping him, at United he woul be next to Rojo ? He can be a great leader but he’s still very young

Quite strange to see a Frenchman hold that sort of opinion. I think many here would agree that, injuries permitting, Varane looks a certainty to grow to be one of the best in the world in his position.

And he has back problems, i don't know if they are fixed.

Now you are exaggerating a little bit.
