Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

YES

Because we are being robbed. That's not to say we are smashing teams apart, but on merit we deserved to win the last 2 games.

We're not getting robbed

If you can't score more than once against a Championship side with your first choice XI out there then there's something wrong

Tonight we did nothing in that second half to deserve to win

You've got to play for 90 minutes not 45

What are you even talking about? What is he supposed to do when crappy VAR decisions stop us from going 3-0 up and horrendous finishing stop us from going at least 5-0 up in the previous match? If you can't see the improvement in the general play at least from Ole I'm not sure what to say to do
I do see the improvement over Ole in terms of performance, but being better than a really bad manager isn't really a great accomplishment. Recently Ralf couldn't beat Middleboro and burnley, two very average team. Of course there should be increased criticism aimed at him. The really good performance from Ralf is rare to find.

I like what he's doing. But it's definitely the sort of thing that needs time and mistakes happen during that period. United is so soft as shit mentally that we forget how to play whenever we get a blow to our confidence, so just takes some time. A lot of good patterns of smooth progression and wing play and decent pressing when things are normal though, which is what we're intending.

If we can't get Ten Hag in the summer, I'd 100% be ok with Ralf staying ahead of getting Poch.

I'm not sure why people are discussing him like a permanent manager, he's doing OK but he he's not going to turn us into a title winning side as manager within 2 months.

He's a stopgap pure and simple yet people discuss him like he's our manager for the 4 years.

I know. The reaction here is so odd. Performances aren't anywhere near as bad as the early parts of the season and he won't be appointed on a permanent basis, anyway. Not sure why so many have their knickers in a twist.

Might as well have kept Ole. Crap results against crap teams is no different. United haven't played any good teams so far and have struggled mightily against the heavyweights of Burnley, Norwich, etc.
We'd be fighting to avoid relegation if we hadn't sacked ole.

I support Ralf but more for what he will bring behind the scenes at the end of the season. We could have got Conte and still had Ralf as a DOF. If this appointment backfires then that’s on the board. Equally if he gets us top 4 then it was a good decision. We will see

We are improving. Still though we lost control of the game badly in the first twenty minutes of the second half. It was up to the Mfs and backs to kill the game in that second half and instead we lost control.

Sounds like you're a bit out of your depth with your evaluation
I can’t think of a manager on earth who won’t get “out of his depth” chucked at him within a month of taking the job.

Yeah, because under ole everything was OK. Let's pretend Liverpool and Watford didn't trash us

I don’t want to turn this into an Ole v Ralf, because Ole had to go, but you’re literally picking the two worst games from a three year spell. The best team we’ve faced so far under Ralf is West Ham.

We put the ball in the net 3 times today and still dropped points.

Yes but did you actually watch the matches? Against Middlesboro we had enough chances to be up by about 7-0, he can't put the ball in the net for them, we also got done by a shitty handball decision, a missed open goal and a missed penalty. This match we should have been 3-0 up if not for 2 horrendous refereeing decisions, at a minimum. I'm not saying he's above criticism but these 2 matches are not the matches to criticise him on

We had 3 goals, 2 disallowed. Cavani had a sitter saved, Varane had a flick 2 yards out cleared off the line and Ronaldo missed a decent chance with a header. Liverpool and City have put these sides to the sword with less chances.

If it means missing out on top four and changing the philosophy of the club and getting in ten hag, i will take that. It took klopp about three years to get liverpool right. It took pep a year with city. We have had two counter attacking managers previously, so the culture of the club has to transform.

Desperate second half of trying to play football and just throwing on attackers.

Maybe the heads dropped after the disallowed goals, the players always look forlorn and frustrated. There's very little good play around the opponents box, just aimless, flicks and passes to defenders.

Maguire is a huge liability all season and at fault for many goals, he gets easily drawn into these areas higher up and can't run back at all, he's wading through 4 feet of water there. If we're to scrape wins he needs to be dropped. I hope Ralf can see sense.

I see a tiny little bit of improvement, than under Ole, but the results have been equally bad, if not worse.

I agree wholly with this post.
Ralph's approach was always going to take time. Lazy supporters will write him off this early but its clear to see what he's doing and how much better our performances look.

I agree. I think we need a new striker though. We are relying on a 37 year old ronaldo and a soon to be 35 year old cavani.

If he really wants the job FT as he eluded he might.....he's failing the audition.

This isn't good enough.

Very frustrating but I don’t blame the manager. We should have put that game to bed. The chances wasted in this game and the last is very frustrating. Also the team need to show some leadership in the second half.

Yep, and if it were Rangnicks way I 'm sure neither would be here in the summer window.

Could never understand the kneejerk accusations when Ole was in charge, but that was Ole. Now I really get it, the level of knee jerk is unbelievable. I was massively unconvinced by Ole as anything other than an interim but still realised he had to have at least six months before could make any proper assessment. It is just an expectation he comes in, waves a wand over this mess of a team and wham 20 match unbeaten run. As long as we are creating chances and we are showing signs of improved control over games I'm happy. Maybe Ole just lowered the bar but as long as we look like an organised, modern team I'm happy at the moment. Be careful what you wish for cranking up the pressure on RR, do you want some kneejerk appointment like Ole again?

Ole was shit and so is Ralf. This comparison is pointless.

Another awful appointment, that's all there to look at.

I won't even give him these 2 consultancy years.

Maybe its time we realize our misfortunes are not all on the manager? There are a lot of other factors at play

And besides, hes been here half a year FFS. We lauged at Klopp for a long time and we laughed at Pep and called him Pep Guardiola is my idol and look at those feckers now.

Give the man a bloody chance

We’ve crafted 52 shots at goal these past 2 games. The finishing will click into place very soon I think. Boro was a freak occurrence. Burnley got an advantage that we played 2 hours with penalties on Friday which showed in the 2nd half tonight.

As long as we’re creating chances, we’re not far away. Worry if we’re not creating chances.

Buck stops with the manager. Got outcoached by Dyche.

Rangnick starts Maguire and Rashford

Another Glazier puppet.

Same old crap… we create a lot under this guy but we don’t finish nowhere near enough chances… probably had over 40 attempts all together against Burnley and Middlesbrough and only scored 2..: embarrassing! Dominating first halves but then drop off in the second halve! Maguire is a donkey always chasing after balls and then getting turned far to easy. The crossing was awful tonight especially from dalot and Ronaldo decision making is so bad… near the end he gets played through but it was sending him wide so what does he do, shoots anyway! Could of easily cut back!

Exactly

The last two matches have been frustrating but at least there was some football on display. I won’t take it for granted.

Considering the 2nd disallowed goal should have stood, its fair to understand why we were.

You're contradicting yourself, you can't say we're creating more chances than City or Liverpool who win these games at ease and then say we're being robbed

Bang on.

I still worry about where we are, because finishing fourth is very difficult from here, but can’t complain too much about what the manager has got from the team this week.

I'm not contradicting myself.

We created more chances than other big teams have created in the past against similar teams.
It's not unfair to say we were robbed of our second goal.

The above two statements are not mutually exclusive.
