If you watched a league of their own you'd have known about Charles

C'mon united. Threaten to sign Benteke if they don't sell him to us. And once he's signed. Let's sign Benteke to punish them for putting us through a long summer :(

Benteke would improve your team 10 fold. Heck, I'd take him at United.

Wow, Benteke is highly rated round here. I would have thought you'd laugh at us looking at our next £32.5m Andy Carroll. He's a decent enough hard man up front (certainly much harder than 99-flake Andy Carroll) but he's hardly suited to your or our style of play.

Pretty much this, I don't see how Benteke and Llorente for that matter suit the Liverpool style. Seems to me they would have the same issues as Ballotelli, well probably not as bad but still.

I'd luv it if City blow their FFP money on Sterling. It would prevent them from buying the likes of Pogba etc.

Even if they had the money to buy Pogba I don't think he will end up there, City can dream but I think he ending up in Spain is an inevitability.

Benteke is miles better then your typical 'big man' Andy Carroll type striker. He's technically very good, fast, and a proven goal scorer in the league. He'd be brilliant for you guys. (I hope you don't sign him!)

FFP is being relaxed. City can probably spend whatever they want.

FFP hasn't been relaxed yet. However, City are now in profit and free of the restrictions placed on us as punishment. This leaves us with significant scope for transfer spending :)

Given that a £50m fee amortised over 5 years is 'only' £10m per year I think it highly unlikely that City will blow their budget on Sterling.

He will play on the right wing displacing Navas obviously. And yes, he is an upgrade on Nasri and Navas, without a doubt. 40m would be a reasonable fee, but the 10m more wont kill them.

Im not too sure about that. This season -

Sterling - 8 goals, 8 assists in 42 games (3 games as subs)
Nasri -3 goals 7 assists in 30 games (9 games as subs)

Keep in mind Sterling played as a forward most of the time. Nasri plays further away from goal. That's the end product. As far as playmaking goes Nasri has better passing percentage and creates more chances.

Nasri > Sterling.... but Nasri is a prick... tbh though seems like Sterling may be one too

When you watch both of them play its obvious Sterling is a better player, stats aren't really that helpful a lot of the time. Not to mention the fact Sterling is still a long way from his peak, theoretically, while nasri appears to be past his already.

Yeah i agree Sterling will only get better and Nasri won't. At this point im sure if he's better though. Nasri can do some really neat stuff at times and his technique is very very good. But Sterling is the future.

I can't believe anyone would rate Nasri over Sterling having watched them both over the last two years. There's no competition.

Have to assume that Firmino in means Sterling will be gone soon. Off to City this week?

35 million is about right. One of the best young players around in that age bracket.

Yeah, I reckon Sterling will be done in the next week or so

If Liverpool get about £50m for him, minus QPR's percentage, it'd cover all their transfers thus far, and losing the likes of Gerrard and Johnson means they won't be paying any more on wages than they already were.

If Firmino is anywhere near as good as people on this forum make him out to be, Brendan is doing good business.

Definitely. If not they'd have spent practically their entire Summer budget on Ings & Firmino (c. £35m). They still need a central defender, right back, defensive midfielder and striker (if they're sticking with Mignolet).

Is a deal with Man City in place because of Liverpool's recent activity in the transfer market? Mate of mine keeps going on about how he prefers us to City... Wouldn't sign him for £50m, so what would be a realistic figure for him & how would he fit into our side?

Is your mate ITK?

Its not like Liverpool have spent over 100 million. They have good income and this rise in PL deal helps them and so will last years CL. When the Sterling sale happens, I would imagine their net spend would be quite decent for this season.

I'd be very happy if we signed him for around 40 million. I don't think we have a chance whatsoever. Rodgers and the whole transfer committee would get sacked due to the backlash.

Way too much fuss about him. He's the single genuine english talents
who you can really compare to other talents international, but this whole saga has taken a lot out of him, and stalled his progression massively. Hope he sorts it out soon, exciting player to watch when on form.

Even if they want Hernandez?

They probably nicked my idea but I think we should be interested and I would have no problem including Hernandez in the deal. It's not personal just business. That helps them 'save face' somewhat and get's us a 'trouble maker'. Why should pool fans care if he signed for us? Since all this happened, he's turned into a nothing player anyway.

No chance. He's not worth the fee's that City have had rejected, let alone £50m.

His move to City should be concluded very soon you would think. There's no chance we could sign him, but we shouldn't be in for him at that price anyway and we've already address the wing issue with Depay and have plenty of quality on both wings with di Maria, Mata and Young.

I could see us making a marquee signing next summer like Bale though for the right side.

City should do the smart thing and just sit tight, Liverpool will eventually come around. They have been spending money and still want to sign a striker, so they will want the funds from the Sterling sale pretty soon.

Liverpool should do the smart thing and just sit tight, Man City are clearly desperate for him and will eventually come around.

I'd agree with this. Liverpool pretty much have to sell at the moment. If not, then they'll have to play a pissed off, demotivated Raheem Sterling and watch as his value plummets every single week. City hold all the cards on this one -- there's no bidding war either, imo. Chelsea might enquire, but I don't think Mourinho wants him.

He'll be sold before the window is shut. No rush though, everyone knows City are going to bid again.
