He is a Golden Boy winner, as Isco,Pogba,Messi,Gotze,Fábregas or Rooney, there are some exceptions, some other winners didn´t keep the level but He has the potential so I would pay 60 million euros for him.

Quick, skill full but a bit shit. He's not strong, and he's been Ben shit since the shit hit the fan. So not very hard working.
Bit shit. 15m worth tops.
 surely you understand why with all the media attention his form took a dip?

van der Vaat, Pato, Balotelli and Anderson spring to mind. But you're right, Sterling is class and one of the best players of his age group in the world.

Anyone can run full pelt for 20 meters and knock someone over, what's he supposed to bounce off him?
My opinion is he's massively overrated, even when he was "playing well" I thought that too, can run fast with the ball and was pretty good at putting the ball just wide of the net, but that was about it. Sorry if that doesn't fit in with your opinion.
He'll got to city and get over shadowed by just about everyone, the new SWP.

You're entitled to your opinion but I think you've been watching another player.

Comparisons to the likes of Wright Phillips are nothing but lazy. The massive difference is that he plays with his head up, has good movement and as a kid has made the difference for his side in a fair few games. There's a reason why a lot of the top sides are looking at him.

Compare his level of performance to Januzaj here to put it into perspective. If he'd been performing at that level then people would be talking up his value. The reality is few young players do. When PSG were sniffing around Januzaj United fans were taking daft money.

He's not the finished he'd article and he might never be. But he'll be a regular starter for City wide right if only because he'll be better than Navas. He's got huge potential and playing in a top side is only going to benefit him.

A few rumours have City willing to pay/pay near the £50m asking price. If true, I'll get on the train up to Liverpool and help him pack myself

While you are up there may I suggest stabbing Rodgers repeatedly in the arse until he promises to let someone else spend it for him?

Especially if uses that money to buy fecking Benteke*.

*Its gonna be Benteke isn't it? :(

If someone Sterling's size ran into a guy who is Kompany's size, you would expect the Sterling size guy to come off 2nd best most of the time. He shields the ball really well for someone his size. I remember him holding Fellaini off at one point too. Really don't know where you got the not strong thing from.

we should have to hijack this deal from the shitte

if shaw could be worthy of 30m pounds sterling should be worth 80m then

They'd be willing cause it's not them paying the money :)

There's hardly shame in being overshadowed by Aguero, Silva and Toure. And they are the only players at City who would actually overshadow him.

Benteke would improve your team 10 fold. Heck, I'd take him at United.

Yup, I'm not getting why some of our fans against the Benteke signing. I'd take...

Benteke, Ibe/Markovic, Clyne
over
Balotelli, Sterling, Johnson

I know those are just three players/positions, but for £50m (£42m we'd get), we could bring in those two, and they'd be massive upgrades on what we have.

He's not a player that will turn City into a league winning side, or even make the difference in them challenging or not. Not quite sure why they're so keen on him.

He improves their starting XI.
He's English.
He has room to improve.

I can understand why they're keen on him, but money in modern football makes no sense to me, so I can understand people thinking "wtf £50m!?!?"

I'm surprised that his mentality/psych profile is not figuring into this. He's clearly talented but there is a lot going on with him. I wonder what a huge bump in wages might do to him (and his crazy agent).

City needs him,we can say how 30,40,50 mil. are insane amounts of $ for Sterlling but if City is really hooked then Liverpool can drain them above 50 mil mark.

Almost forgot, here's a great rant against "modern football" in the context of Raheem.

Some true gems in there, worthy of a RAWK meltdown. The world as we know it is ending. And "football citadel".

Here is a 20-year-old who is turning down £100,000-a-week to play football for a famous club that has won 18 titles and five European Cups. His ego has allowed him to believe he has already outgrown a footballing citadel where he got his big break in the game (notwithstanding the work done by Queens Park Rangers when he was a schoolboy).

£50m for Sterling. feck me!

You could almost surely drop that cash at Dortmund's door step for Reus or throw a bunch of it at Atleti for Griezmann.

Just thinking about the absolute world class players that have moved in the last couple of years for WAY less is mind boggling.

£35m for Alexis only last summer.. I guess it's the fact that Sterling is English, still very young and could become as good or even better than the players you named that makes City go so high.

I wonder where City plan to use him? If he plays up top with Aguero that will leave them short of height in front. So probably from the flanks, no way on planet earth he's displacing Silva so i guess that means he'll share minutes with Nasri and Navas. Is he a step up on Nasri?

Sanchez, Hazard, Ozil, Costa, Fabregas...

That's just in the PL. Legitimate world class players. All still relatively young as well. Sterling isn't anywhere near those players' level yet. I'd bet a load of money he never reaches the heights of some of them either.

I think £50m sounds about right considering his age, ability at his best and potential. He wasn't great last season, but neither was our very own Di Maria who cost us even more and is 6 years older. It would be wrong to brand Sterling over rated based on a season playing for a club he's wanted out at for a long time now.

Sterling isn't overrated on here, if anything he's underrated by some people (see poster on this very page comparing him to fecking Shaun Wright-Philips). And he didn't have a poor season overall, that's just what people make of it because he's been bang average since January, and what Liverpool fans are willing to believe because it makes things easier should he really be sold. Up until December, Sterling was our best player alongside Coutinho.

He will play on the right wing displacing Navas obviously. And yes, he is an upgrade on Nasri and Navas, without a doubt. 40m would be a reasonable fee, but the 10m more wont kill them.

City's home grown players:
  • Boyata - now sold to Celtic
  • Clichy
  • Hart (didn't know his first name was actually Charles)
  • Lampard - gone back to NYCFC
  • Milner - left on a free to Liverpool
  • Wright - I think his contract has expired
They are utterly fecked. Unless they sell some of their existing non-HG players, they can't really sign any.

Madness.

Im sure it will be 45 + add ons. Thats more than they paid for Aguero.

Good news is they will only get 35-37m of that. 32.5 of that will go on benteke's release clause.

Not that benteke is a bad player, he'd do well for them.
