Would have him here over all the Brazilians we've been linked with. His natural ability is frightening, and can definitely at least match Hazard if developed properly over the next couple of seasons. That goalscoring composure will just come one day, seemingly over night, then we'll be talking world-class footballer in and around Hazard/Neymar level.

Can't he change his agent to Mendes?

Yep.

Can someone tell me why we drool over pogba for 70-80 million, and sterling for 40-50 is considered more of a joke?
Because as usual the English media have significantly overhyped a young British talent. Don't get me wrong, he is a talent but 40m is one hell of a risk. It will almost be impossible for him to live up to expectations.
He really isn't *that* good.

As for pogba, 80m is daft anyway. The sterling fee doesn't change that.

You'd be ridiculous to, it's a fair price for someone who didn't exactly set the world alight last season and has requested to leave.

They have to pay QPR 20% though IIRC and City will bid more.

Could be Liverpool want money upfront and City want it spread out also.

Bidding £40m for Sterling makes more sense than bidding £50m for Kane, to be fair.
Thats very true, but again we are mixing up fantasy with reality. Nobody ever said anybody would pay 50m for Kane. It got made up between click bait and transfer muppets on here.

A lot of it is overboard but some of it is warranted considering how good Suarez made that entire Liverpool team look the season before last.
If he joined City, he'd be playing with a good few players closer to Suarez' level than Lallana's.
He wont be brilliant every game (which 20 year old is) but he wont have such an underwhelming season. There will be games where he and Aguero tear teams apart on their own.

City will be looking to get something like his 2013/14 season out of him, at least. Which isn't unrealistic and would make him a cracking addition.

Big shame.

For all the people laughing at the fees being mentioned, I think he's one of most talented young players around right now, possibly the most out of the one's I see. How many young players his age do you see right now who can beat a defender
with as much ease as he does? It's rare and that's why his ceiling, depending on how hard he works and how strong he is mentally, can be incredibly high. I'm hoping this falls through and he somehow ends up staying at Liverpool.

I agree. The game against Slovenia showed how much talent he has. Finishing needs a bit of work clearly but his dribbling ability within tight spaces is reminiscent of the Barca trio.

I didn't even watch this game to be honest. But he's evidently one of the most gifted young players out there with the ball at feet, despite all the United fans here comparing him to Aaron Lennon.

It should also be remembered that he was/is quite obviously unsettled at Liverpool and has probably harboured desires to leave all season, which can't have helped his football.

Liverpool probably asking Citeh how much did you Pay for Mangala last season ?

Anyway, it won't happen but i'd like us going in for him.

They're going to make the same mistake which Spurs did with Bale, aren't they?

By comparing, I'm guessing you mean saying that he's no better than Lennon. I've seen some of it, but that's mostly people trying to be controversial or overreacting within the "overrated british talent" debate. No one objective can honestly say he's not more talented than Lennon or Walcott (the other name that pops up).

Stump up the cash or get lost basically.

After all:
‘Can you get [Raheem] Sterling?” said Pellegrini. “Maybe if you go to Liverpool with £100m you can.”

I fully expect the latest bid to be rejected.

Pretty much this if I was in your situation.

You've told them the price, they have the money, just pay up.

35.5mil minus 7.1mil(QPR 20% cut) is 28.4mil.

A really bad deal from Liverpools point of view.

City aren't offering £44mil though. Plenty said we were keen, we should stick a bid in - think Woody is seeing how this one develops.

Liverpool will never sell him to us, no more than we would ever sell an important player to them.

We should be In for him. Atleast give them something to think about, might get sterling to throw a strop too if he wants to come here. Even if nothing happens, City would need to pay more. Win win in all cases.

Realistically, how many big names are available for us this summer? I don't see many.
So, if we have the money but don't know where to spend it, maybe we could outbid City for Sterling?

QPR get 20%? In that case Liverpool should be looking for £50mil so they pocket 40 themselves. Anything less, and they'll have got a bad deal out of it.

The best case scenario for me (based merely on hope and the idea that Sterling is a United fan) is that Liverpool arrogantly refuse to sell this summer, next season he'll be fairly unhappy, next summer Liverpool will have even less bargaining power, accept a lower offer from City but Sterling turns down the move, staying for one more season and signing for United upon his contract's expiration.

From Sterling's POV that's missing out on a significant pay rise for 1 or 2 years so would be losing out on many millions of pounds, but if he was then signing for next to nothing you'd think his agent would be able to negotiate a huge salary and signing on fee for Sterling. It'd likely even be something that could be pre-arranged with United - Sterling let's his contract run down and we pay him more than enough to cover the lost wages by staying at Liverpool instead of joining City or Chelsea.

Hopeful and unlikely maybe, but I'd be very surprised if it's not an option that his agent has explored with Woodward and/or the top guys at other big clubs.

Sadly, they've deluded themselves into genuinely believing it.
