Gary Neville said:When it comes to representing young players, the onus should be on protecting and supporting them; maintain your dignity and keep out of the headlines.
But has Raheem Sterling really let Liverpool down by suggesting he wants to leave or is he just a kid who wants to play football and win trophies?
'Liverpool are in danger of becoming...Liverpool':

That may be true but you can't argue with what he says. dippers this season should have been challenginfg for the title .Instead they are hoping to secure fifth place.
I don't think he would be any better in the PL than Markovic.I had us challenging for top four at the beginning of the season, and that didn't seem too outrageous at the beginning... Then Sturridge reverted back into glass, and we never had a chance after that We really paid the price for not buying a striker, it seems.
If we get £40m for Sterling and bring in someone like Konoplyanka (who we've chased for a while) on a free, I'd be pretty happy with that. Yeah, he's a cut below Sterling, but would still be a good addition, and give us options to improve our squad elsewhere.

Worth a shot, in my opinion. Notch below Sterling, sure, but lower wages, no cost up front, and able to sell on if it doesn't work out.
I think Konoplayanka would be an excellent signing for you guys to be fair. Now I don't follow Dnjepr Dnjepropretrovsk(?) at all but every time I've seen them play in the EL he's been brilliant. Like you said it's not much of a risk either.

Your manager signed two new strikers last summer, they managed 3 goals in 39 premier league matches between them.
Chris Smalling managed to score more premier league goals than both of your new strikers combined.
Is Borini on loan at Sunderland or did he leave permanently.Oh right, those guys I genuinely think Lambert would've done better with more game time, but he never really suited our style of play & dealt with the fact he was playing for us. Still, can't moan at the price... I don't think anyone thought it was a bad transfer at the start of the season.
Balotelli - Less said the better
We have so many third/fourth choice strikers it's untrue - And this is without mentioning youth squad players. Aspas, Lambert, Origi, and Balotelli... Ridiculous. Origi is the only one I want here next season.

Is he on loan? I thought he rejected Sunderland earlier after Liverpool accepted their bid.Is Borini on loan at Sunderland or did he leave permanently.
Last i remember was him getting sent off against Arsenal in December 2014.Borini has been playing for Liverpool this season, although you'd be forgiven for not noticing
I actually forgot he was alive! Can't believe he wouldn't go to QPR for £13m and let us bring in Remy for £9m... Wow.
Arsenal makes the most sense, but even there he isn't guaranteed game time.

Your time watching him is the same as mine, then It makes sense. £40m banked, wages saved (on the £120k or whatever Raheem wanted), and can sell on if needed.
If not us, I can see Spurs going for him.
Balotelli - Less said the better
.
so we Did speak to Liverpool about Sterling...
well if the player wants to come to us.....
says who?
no evidence United talked to him. Plenty of reasons for Liverpool to brief that they did though.saw that in the timeline in the Telegraph article...of Neville...

You can't see how Liverpool briefing that United desperately want Sterling (when there is zero chance of that happening) would be good for Liverpool when they sell him to Arsenal or City?of course there is no evidence...and Liverpool would not say anything...too embarresing if their rising star ended up at United.
still think he will end up at City though...

I'm probably* going to be completely alone with this viewpoint bit i really think Liverpool and Rodgers missed a trick with Balotelli.
when he wants, he can be a brilliant player. I was genuinely scared he could have ended up being your Cantona this season.
There's only one way to do that though and that's too make him the number 1 player in your team. Build everything around him and make him feel he's the most important person ever.
The problem was there was to much of a feeling that sturridge was the man to fill the hole suarez left and it became all about him.
*certainly

Sky sources understand Manchester City would be interested in signing Liverpool's Raheem Sterling if he became available.
It is understood that no bid has been made and Liverpool would prefer Sterling to go abroad if he does leave.
Any City offer could also depend on what happens with James Milner and Samir Nasri, but there is interest.
