This interview is pretty strange. Doesn't actually clarify anything and I would say he's actually made it a little worse. So many ambiguous answers.

He says signing a new contract is not really about top four then later says if they offered him a contract towards the end of last season he would have 'definitely' signed for less money.

Talking about how flattering it is to be linked with clubs like Arsenal etc

I never thought he would actually leave but after hearing this interview I genuinely believe he could be leaving in the summer window.

This interview wasn't a good idea. He needed his agent in there to help him!

Sounds like he is gone, never once said he intends to be a Liverpool player next year and was given plenty of oppertunities to do so, he was very very nervous not to say something that he shouldnt, any player who intended to stay would of said he had two years left and wants to win trophies with Liverpool "in the future" he never once spoke about anything he intends to do next season etc

In my opinion he will be a Man City player next season

These are just negotiation tactics for getting a fatter contract. They have the Suarez incident to fall back on where the club just ignored all the interviews and the crap he spoke to the media back in Uruguay and welcomed him with open arms just because he was their best player.

Sterling's agents know that the club doesn't have the backbone to stand firm and can be arm twisted and hence they are doing it. The way Liverpool changed their policy and continuously made exceptions for a player like Suarez will come back to haunt them even in the future.

I'm inclined to agree with this. If he was angling for a move it wouldn't be done publicly, his agent would be on the phone trying to work something out with other clubs and he would push for the move when the season has finished.

He's doing what all Liverpool playing staff and coaches do, make a public who-ha in the hope fans will put pressure on the board to get something sorted.

Suarez did it and got a fat new contract, Gerrard did it and got a fat new contract, Rodgers did it and got more control over transfers. It's an effective way to operate and their fans can moan all they want but they are the crux of the problem. They'll back their heroes to the detriment of their club time and time again.

I would love for United to get him, but I think City will sell Navas to some mid-table club in Spain and have Sterling as a replacement

Obviously it's subjective, but I think he is, by far.
Johnson, Markovic, Lallana, Flanagan in that order.

Anyway, I think that Golden Boy European award has turned his head into thinking that he's too good for Liverpool, a club that is in decline. I mean, which any top club would have Henderson as their Captain?

What he says in an interview is countered by the hatchet job his advisors are attempting in the press. Contract negotiations do not need to be this public, but that's the way he wants it, for better or worse.

Sterling will stay in England, he's worth too much to the likes of Chelsea and City (And potentially us) who play in Europe and need home grown English players to make up the squad. A team in England, that's competing in Europe will offer him around what Liverpool have offered him (or what we offered Ashley Young) and he'll sign.

I would like it a lot if we signed him, just for the RAWK fallout.

I don't think I'd want him at United after seeing that interview. He's made himself look a right twat.

Ofcourse I would like to see him at United. He is a great player with a lot of good qualities in the last third of the pitch.
I really don't care if he comes from Liverpool.
Is he a twat, no. Not more than Rio and Rooney etc, who most fans still love when playing for United..

But no, I don't think he will move to United..

Thing is, at Liverpool he is often a standout player. But how difficult is that when you're standing next to Balotelli, Allen, Henderson, an-old Gerrard and a crocked Sturridge (we'll leave Coutinho out)? Even last season he was our 3rd best player wayyyyy behind a phenomenal SAS pairing. He couldn't hold a candle to them two, so yep you guessed it he was standing out from the rest already mentioned above. Its all relative, smoke and mirrors, etc.

He's not good for 15 league goals a season and barely that number of assists yet. He's far too uncut. You could argue he'd get better stats in a 'better' team. But he's the one fcking up the chances he's at the end of, and he often plays in the pick of best positions at Liverpool more than he would Chelsea or City. For the rumoured £150-180k he wants NOW I'd expect the returning stats NOW. Otherwise we need to feed his 'wold class talent' spiel to the media in hope someone bites at 40-50 million.

He is a world class talent but he's not worth 150k or £50m just yet. Jump the gun and you get disqualified for false starts.

The only ways he can sign for us are :

a) Webster ruling
b) Running down his contract
c) Only wanting to play for us which is unconceivable (he was a man utd fan though)

1% chance.

I don't want him here, I don't like him...I wouldn't be able to take or get used to him. Runs like a girl with his arse stuck out and I've never seen a player whinge as much or go down as much.

That interview will only make the Liverpool fans more nervous and angry too, which is always a laugh.

I think he'll end up signing a new contract at Liverpool in the summer - this is all about his agent trying to get him the best possible deal at the club, nothing more

"I'm happy to be playing for Liverpool"

The transfer embargo between United and Liverpool needs to be lifted imo.

No, it makes football rivalries even better! Besides, Depay is cheaper and a better footballer.

City could be a force next season. Bring in Ancelotti and have Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne behind Aguero. They still need to sort out their CM and defence though.

Debatable. I've not seen much of Depay but Sterling winning the the Golden Boy trophy is certainly a feat, considering a lot of the previous winners.

United and Liverpool are the only teams in the world that still don't do business with each other, that convention is somewhat outdated now.

Depay is better than Sterling, not significantly though.

Depay is not better than Sterling.

Chelsea,City,Real,Barca,Bayern,PSG etc can afford to buy players for £50mil and 150k wages a week and for them to flop. They will just buy till they find a successful player. For example Mangala flopping at City will be written of and they will just buy somebody else.

Hazard didn't play in the Dutch league. Sterling would absolutely destroy that league BTW.

I meant as a young European winger(Star) from a smaller league, Sterling would not 'absolutely destroy' the dutch league or any league, he will be a star, but thats about it.

He is too good for Liverpool but wouldn't last on any top team, so he might as well get that new deal.

Depay is not better than Sterling.

I'm not sure about that tbh. Sterling is a very good player, but I think Depay will surpass him, just seems to have more about him, especially in his end product and composure on the ball.
We'll find out next season though, as Depay will obv be moving to a bigger league where he'll really be tested.

I keep hearing people say Liverpool is the best place for him but I can't quite agree. Its a good place for him, yes, but Arsenal would give him relatively regular football, CL football and training with some excellent players.

Don't know if they'd want to give him 100+k per week though.

He will be the star man in Liverpool next season if he signs.

The reception he gets when Liverpool play at Anfield next will be interesting.

He really hasn't anything Depay can do Sterling can do better.. Depay just has a better shot. Sterling is stronger, faster, better dribbler and better end product. Plus he plays in a better league. Like many have said... You don't get golden boy for no reason.
