I was thinking more about Walcott's place. He's a slightly better player than Sterling currently in my opinion when he's fit.

I don't think Sterling is a signing that would be a significant upgrade on what they have or someone who would push them over the edge to become a genuine title contender.
Unless we sold Oscar or just benched a very good player every match I can't see an open spot for Sterling.

Not like it hasn't happened before.

Liverpool will most probably look to sell him this summer rather then the next year so that they can get a higher transfer figure. How much is he worth? 35-45m?

Arsenal is the only realistic destination for Sterling
Why is that? They aren't a realistic destination at all unless they sold one or two of their attacking midfielders. They already struggle to play all of them.

Walcott is leaving and Ramsey has regressed, you can throw City into the equation as well, but he will probably not be utilised well at City, Arsenal would be the perfect place for him to progress further.

Thats a little harsh

City will have to buy English players for the homegrown quota. Chances of him going there are more.

Didn't realise he had two and a half years left on his contract. Can't see him going anywhere this summer if that's the case.

Considering he was a 'god' last season, his stunner in the UCL has been his only real highlight this season, other than that he is nothing more than a team player for them.

Yes, but hes also hardly been fit, I wouldn't call it regression.

Don't think Walcott will leave. I think Ramsey is just playing at his actual level now. Maybe slightly below. Think last season's form was just a purple patch rather than the player he actually is. Doubt he'll ever play like that again.

He's perfect for City's right side and it's for that reason that I believe he'll end up there.

It expires in June'17 If I am not wrong. Liverpool would look to sell this summer as next year they won't get that much transfer fees.

Well I see Chelsea as the favourites, as they can offer London, money and pretty much guaranteed trophies. I also see City as a bigger draw than Arsenal. Liverpool to Arsenal doesn't really offer much more in terms of trophies. If that's what he's after then it would be an odd move.

If thats the case then i agree, I can see him going to City, but would it be good for his career though?

True. I was under the impression that his contract was up this summer for some reason. Obviously with that extra year, it gives Liverpool a bit more power.

I don't see him as a regular starter in that Chelsea team.

Don't see why not. Navas is shit and will leave and Nasri is a totally pointless and average player so it's not like he'll have a superstar to displace for a starting position.

Has he been tapped up by someone? Sure sounds like it and he's getting his excuses in early now by saying "I want to win trophies".

Not that I blame him - makes sense. I'd never sign a contract until right near the end of it anyway so I could assess the market and build a stronger bargaining position.

Fans shouldn't expect "loyalty". He's an employee looking to get the best deal possible for himself and if he wants to move to a different organisation then he's free to do that.

I think that in a couple of years the lad will be world class. He will be a better option than Willian and Cuadrado. In fact I would start him now over both of those. All opinions of course!

This is what I think. Sounds like another club has made it known to his reps that they want him.

I don't share the same sentiments, Willian has done a lot for Chelsea this season, Sterling is not going to stroll into the first team.

I think i am the only one who actually rates him based on his performances rather than his potential.

Yeah, no way. If he gets sold this summer, it will almost definitely be more than £40m. You can rate him based on his performances all you like, but he'll be rated by his potential if he gets sold.

Same here, which is why I rate Coutinho as our best player (and I also think he has a bundle of potential).

Still, potential is what will get us £40m plus for Sterling.

Yeah, English talent. 40mil definitely.

I don't know about that. More than players like Hazard, Fabregas, Sanchez, etc?

I can see around £30m.

He'll sign a new contract worth £150,000 a week in the summer and all will be forgiven in Merseyside. That is until he's sold in a few years when he's done with Liverpool. Then the sacred ritual of the burning of the shirts will commence.

If Hazard does leave Chelsea, it'll be for £50m plus.

You're not getting £40m for Raheem Sterling, Sanchez wasn't even sold to Arsenal for that amount.

I was questioning whether Sterling will be sold for more than what Hazard, Sanchez and Fabregas cost.

That Youtube vid he posted - 'Champion' - was a clue (City? Chelsea, if they win the League this season?).
*dons homemade conspiracy hat*

Hazard was of course well known by all the top clubs when he moved to Chelsea, but he played at Lille and isn't English. Him and Fabregas are both nothing short of very shrewd deals by Chelsea, like they've done many times in the past. But Fabregas and Sanchez were pretty much the finished article when they were sold this summer. No one knows the ceiling of Sterling's potential. Add to that that he's English and has already proven himself in the PL, you'll pay more than £40m if you want Liverpool to agree.

Comparisons are useless in the transfer market these days. IF Sterling gets sold this summer, it'll be more than £40m. Next summer would be a different story as he'll only have one year left on his contract but it would still be more than £30m.

Till then.

There's only one club in the world that would pay £40m or more for Sterling I think, and that's City. So I guess you're right.

I think so.

Sanchez & Fabregas were coming towards the end of their contracts and taking a step down in club stature. They're also 6(?)+ years older than Sterling, and are (possibly) less marketable in the UK.
