Radamel Falcao Garcia

Glad to see Falcao finally stepping up for Colombia. I've been following them for two years now thanks to my wife, and this is the first time I've actually seen him playing for the team. Usually he looks disinterested. I hope that continues as Colombia finally have a team that is coming together and a gaffer who's willing to play attacking football. As for a number 10, Fredy Guarín is a nifty player, but he's more useful sitting back a bit. Rodriguez could become a number 10 depending on the next two years of his development. But finding another Valderrama is searching for a single pearl in the vast ocean. What an under appreciated player. I've been searching for his kit for some time now.

The 4 - nil win over Uruguay was definitely a good sign. But I don't know what the feck was wrong with Uruguay. They were terrible. Maybe the tropical heat of the coast was too much.

We have a histroy of getting slaughtered in Barranquilla (5-0 in the 06 qualifiers). 45 degrees is insanely hot for a football game. I had never seen players start a game looking white and finish it perfectly tanned. They just baked in a packed stadium, against a very good side that scored at the right time.

The first half was an even game despite the gameplan going out of the window within two minutes. Then your second half plan goes out of the window on the 47th minute... They kept going but it was clear the players realised they wouldn't turn it around and it was best to conserve energy for the Ecuador game. It was the right thing to do: we don't have much strength in depth, many oldies and in those conditions you would Traveller yourself proper.

Not that I would take anything away from Colombia's display. They were excellent, the attack was  and the team is very solid overall. I've no doubt Pekerman is the man to turn them into the best Colombian side we've ever seen.

The timing of the goals and professionalism taking its course did make it a very rubbish second half display from our boys. I take it as a positive though. In the past, 4-0 down with the crowd going "Ole Ole" there would have been a brawl, at least 1-2 sent off... We didn't even get someone picking a yellow and carrying it to the next game. Well done in that regard.

I thought Colombia might have done a little better at last year's Copa America, but they lacked a little bit of sizzle moving the ball forward. Solid base though, so with Falcao and the rest of the attack shifting into gear, they'll look tasty for 2014.

I don't see any of that explosiveness in Falcao's game. He doesn't have the lightning acceleration or great dribbling that Romario had, the closest forward to him is Aguero IMO. Falcao is much more like Crespo from what I can see. His aerial game is one of the defining aspects of his game and it simply didn't exist in Romario's game, and vice-versa with Romario's dribbling. Most of Falcao's goals have come from crosses into the box or from great strikes with defenders facing him, whereas most of Romario's goals came from him darting in behind and if he was facing up to a defender he's far more likely to dribble past him than curl one into the corner. Both top class goal-poachers but that's about as far as the comparison goes.

Good call.

Yeah, I was totally surprised by the lack of retaliation by the Uruguayans. Everybody and their mothers were waiting for some kind of violent outbreak near the end. But at the same time, you could pretty much see those well timed goals and the oppressive heat had broken their spirit, and the Colombians got off easy.

But I guarantee you, under similar conditions in a Copa Libertadores evening match against Peñarol or Nacional, a Colombian would've certainly been biffed by some bitter Charrua.

 must be some sight

No doubt. That's one of the key factors in what Tabárez has done, he has weeded that out completely as part of his squad selection. The players know it will not be tolerated and over time have come to appreciate his point. It's not like Passarella with haircuts or such bullshit, he is just requiring players to act professionally and always keep the team's best interests top of mind.

At the end as Lugano was leaving the pitch an excited Colombian reporter approached him with his cameraman and the oversized mic on the camera hit him in the head. In the past that would have been a sufficient excuse to start an ugly incident. Lugano actually apologised to the cameraman for not watching his step and hitting his mic

Knew this was going to happen. I did say it might be too far a stretch. When I say 'explosive' I don't really mean his pace or dribbling ability. What I meant was how he always manage to finish off the play quite spectacularly, something Romario would always do. Things seem static for a split second and then a pass is made and you see a lone figure darting across to bang it in. For that it somehow reminds me of Romario, not so much the playing style but rather, perhaps, the mannerisms.

I really hope Colombia make it to the world cup. They won 3-1 against Chile tonight, with Falcao scoring again.

Florentino, do the impossible and sign him up. He is the real deal, will challenge Ronnie and Messi for pichichi this year.

The longer he stays at Atletico the better for the health of the league.

Bloody hell how many top quality strikers do you need? You already have Ronaldo, Benzema & Higuain!

I want them all! Messi, Aguero, Van Persie, Neymar.. In my muppet dream we play without defenders or a keeper.

Definitely. If he leaves in january I will give up on Spanish football. They can easily finish top 4 this season if the squad can stay together. Had a brilliant start and Falcao has 10 goals in 6 games.

Scored against Malaga and Roberto Mancini is sat with his agent in the stands.

Great, that means Aguero is ours this summer.

Edit - If it's at all possible offcourse, apparently he might have a clause in his contrast that he can't be sold to Real Madrid the first 3 years, hope it's bollocks.

Balotelli, Dzeko, Aguero and Tevez. And here's there watching Falcao.

Good way to keep your striker force settled.

That makes perfect sense.. they badly need to get a new striker with only Mario, Dzeko, Tevez and Aguero there..

Yeah it is our time to get one. Would fit really good in the system we played today!

 we'll change the system to fit him in. Maybe In place of Wellbeck today?
I'm not really saying we need to get a Spanish midfielder, but if we did then I wouldn't mind him at all.

True, we can not complain about our attacking options but Isco is one to watch for sure.

Oh for fecks sake.

This :( But let's face it's either them or Chelsea - only PSG could stop that eventuality from happening

The rumour the summer he signed for City was that they agreed not to sell him to you for two years - but just rumours, could three years or could just be made-up.

Falcao puts in two signature left footers for Colombia's 2 - 0 win over the hapless Paraguayans. Colombia is back and should have no trouble classifying for Brazil 2014. Definitely along with the Argies the top sides in South America at the moment. We've been waiting a long time for this, but no one wants to get too optimistic as we all remember the tragedy of 1994.

Falcao has to be considered the top center forward in the world. A total beast. Will fecking hate it if the Renties get him next year, although switching him for Torres seems to be in the cards. We'll take James Rodriguez though. Perfect replacement for Goggs. Was massive today as well.

Right fullback/winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado who plays for Fiorentina is another Colombian to look out for. Looks so much like a young right footed Robert Carlos but with more pace.

Jackson Martinez still unable to crack the starting line up, but just wait.

I just hope and pray City don't get him. Or Chelsea. This guy for me is the third best player in the world.

He really is the complete centre forward. Wouldn't rank him 3rd ahead of Iniesta, but he's easily top 10, arguably top 5.
