Radamel Falcao Garcia

You don't buy a player from a smaller club for +€50m. Only transfers between big super clubs and proven superstars with extreme status can be handed such a price tag.

Only players like Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo x2, Messi, Ibrahimovic etc who were big leaders and super stars in super clubs can cost that amount. A player like Torres was not up there, Carroll was not up there and Falcao is not up there either.

Had he played for Juventus and then Barca or Madrid came in form him, then YES he might had cost somewhere around €50m - TOP

An honest price tag for him today would be 25-30m euro
.

Steven Fletcher goes for 15 m GBP yet Falcao is worth only 25-30 million Euro. "Ok"

Why are numbers below what Atletico paid - or even close to it - being bandied about for a player who is getting better and better and is now rightfully considered a star?

Outside of Atletico's financial worries forcing them to sell at less than he is worth, what possible reasoning is there for this train of thought?

Can't wait to see him out of Atletico. This will now be his third consecutive year without CL football, which is a bit of a crime. He only played UCL in is first year in Europe.

What if they finish 3rd in the league this season? Of course players like him deserve to play on the biggest stage.

I'll take this bet with you, you reckon he'll move for less then 30m euro. I say it'll be over.

Deal?

Winner/Loser gets something like a tagline change or something if the mods agree to it.

Bump, for the new page.

Come on Successful.

Probably the most composed finisher infront of goal, ive never seen him "rush" a chance so to speak, he seems to almost stop time and pick the exact spot he wants. Insane finishing skills.

It seems like there isnt a type of goal he cannot score either - sign of a true striker.

Falcão is the best striker in the world, period, he is greatly missed here at FC Porto, but a sale of 40 million euros doesn't happen everyday, eventhough Atletico still hasn't paid the most part.

I'm not sure...

Gil Marin would say that and in legal terms of avoiding the "third party ownership" tag they probably do own 100% of his registration. That doesn't mean that Mendes's group didn't loan them the money to do it, or at least to pay the first half of the fee.

Meanwhile, Falcao's dad is supposed to have told the Colombian press that he didn't bother flying to Europe for the match because he didn't know if his son would play - because he thought that he might have already been sold by then - "the big English clubs want him."

AS are reporting a Colombian paper saying that Chelsea have a pre-contract to buy him in January. Though why they'd wait until January, I don't know. I'm not sure what advantage either club gets from that, so that may just be putting 3 goals together and seeing a story.

Yes, just noticed I had made a typo. It was suppose to say 40 million, not 30. He's not gonna be sold for a penny more than 40.

I'll bet you £50 he goes for over €40m.

Why did none of the bigger clus go for him when he absolutely dismantled the europa league a couple of seasons ago? It was obvious he was the top draw. How much did Atletico pay?

Around about what the got for Aguero.

I thought that was crazy at the time, but it wasn't a bad deal. Given their ages I still think they should have sold Aguero for more, but in terms of quality there isn't much between the two.

Falcao continues his red hot streak, denting the old onion bag in the second minute, leaving a shell shocked Uruguay as Colombia cruises to a 4 - nil drubbing of the Charruas. Looked amazing for the first time in a Colombian shirt. This guy can be scary good.

He's 26 isn't he? He's been good for a while.

What a player. One of those players who, when they get chances, you're so confident they'll take them.

Actually the thing I find most amazing about him is that he can score goals out of nowhere.

He makes great runs, has an amazing shooting technique and looks like no defender can really get him under control if he is in form.

Falcao finally made it to Europe when he joined the Portuguese giants FC Porto on 15 July 2009, for €3.93 million.

Amazing.

I remember he was good in FM06 so he has probably been highly rated even before reaching Europe

Really hope Colombia do well and manage to qualify for the WC. After so many years of political instability (FARC, cartels), the country badly needs some respite.

Plus, I've always liked that Maturana side that beat Argentina 5:0 in B.Aires

Yeah, we could use some good news. The political instability and the violence and the fact the national side has been shit for the past 15 years (ever since Valderrama retired). The 4 - nil win over Uruguay was definitely a good sign. But I don't know what the feck was wrong with Uruguay. They were terrible. Maybe the tropical heat of the coast was too much. We've got great fullbacks and center halves and an attack of a prime Falcao and James Rodriguez. We´re a #10 play making midfielder away from great things. Macnelly Torres looked fantastic yesterday so we'll just have to see.

That Maturana side is instilled in Colombian folklore; el famoso cinco cero en Buenos Aires. Standing ovation from the Argies as the Colombians walked off the pitch. 80 deaths in Colombia in the ensuing "celebration." But that fairy tale soon ended in vintage Colombian style with the tragic murder of Andres Escobar.

I know this is too far a stretch but the way he plays reminds me of certain Romario. He's always breaking away from the last line of defenders, the footwork and decisiveness, and the overall 'explosiveness' of his play inside the box is just incredible.

I don't see any of that explosiveness in Falcao's game. He doesn't have the lightning acceleration or great dribbling that Romario had, the closest forward to him is Aguero IMO. Falcao is much more like Crespo from what I can see. His aerial game is one of the defining aspects of his game and it simply didn't exist in Romario's game, and vice-versa with Romario's dribbling. Most of Falcao's goals have come from crosses into the box or from great strikes with defenders facing him, whereas most of Romario's goals came from him darting in behind and if he was facing up to a defender he's far more likely to dribble past him than curl one into the corner. Both top class goal-poachers but that's about as far as the comparison goes.

I see Falcao I think Batigol.

I don't see any way Falcao reminds me of Romario, two very different strikers imo.

Not similar in style but Falcao has a very Drogba like presence to him imo.

Falcao does the simple things well, has a good first touch and technique, that killer instinct and is a fantastic header of the ball. And he also has a penchant for the spectacular..some players just have that.

Very intelligent movement as well though that goes without saying.

Class player.
