So it's basically the end for Mata and RvP? That would make the deal for me even less appealing tbh. but if LvG thinks this is the way to go I'll have to trust him.

No, its part of building a world class squad again. You look at Chelsea and City and see two world class players in each position.

Just woke up to the news and heard it's a loan deal. Sounds like a sensible move to me. Instagram strikes once again.

RvP is 32 and needs a knee op. We need players in their prime, we can't afford to wait and hope players come good right now.

RvP has just turned 31.

Why do players get years added on when mentioned in the transfer forum?

@Orton

You can't say that, Falcao has been the main creative force for Atleti, when he was there, he didn't have a team build for him. Falcao in form is the best striker out there.

And the fact that you talk about goals for Diego Costa shows that you don't know him, because it's the contrary Costa was a striker who couldn't deliver goals and he begin to score only lately. he always have been a sort of powerful second striker.
Falcao wasn't creative. Costa done all the dirty work when Falcao was the main man, and in the 2nd half of 12/13 Costa was the better player. Costa didn't score as much, but that's what I'm saying. He offers more than just goals but in the past 20 months he's added goals to his game and became prolific as well as running the channels and freeing up space for other players. Falcao relies on good service.

No, it's the start of a squad that has depth in quality.

It's the end for Hernandez, Mata and RVP are still at the club.

Waiting for final confirmation before I start celebrating. Would be really shrewd of LvG/Ed to bring Falcao on loan to see if he has fully recovered. If he has we'll finally have a striker who is two footed, pacey and great in the air.

Wow, I am genuinely excited to see Falcao play week in, week out. Never really watched much of him consistently except in a few games against Barca and Real where he has always been class.

Ed Woodward take a bow!

We don't know that they do! Everyone who wants to think the worst of United will say that. But it'd be kind of surprising if United did not have get out clauses, in case of major injury etc. And if it's a a permanent deal disguised as a loan to beat FFP then UEFA would probably be a little bit pissed...
I was just responding to a post that claimed it was!

I'm only just catching up with all this madness

Well our opinions differs, for me they are both great, they both work a lot for their teams, they are both all around strikers, one is a better scorer and is for me better.

We should definitely start some language courses in our training camp. Can see a potential divide between Spanish and English speaking players. Mata, Herrera and others who manage both languages have and important part to play in bridging the gap.

The Falcao deal has pissed off Carragher and Phil Thompson, which is an added bonus on the side.

I have to say I've always been a huge fan of Falcao since he was at Porto and on the face of it this transfer makes absolutely no sense at all unless both hernandez and Welbeck really want out (well 1 is already gone) and the Van Persie needing surgery thing is true. Seems a tiny bit far fetched though. Can't help but be excited that we've got Falcao though

I'm so confused! Just read the news and what the hell is going on?

Phil Thompson saying he might not pass a medical and that he can't believe he's chosen us over arsenal. He's devastated

He meant in Nice, his plane has now arrived to fly him to Manchester.
ah, well yes it does look a bit more like Nice! But I kind of doubt these shots of private planes....

Van Gaal has already ordered that all of the players will communicate in English.
