Radamel Falcao | Ducker: Medical passed!

Am i right in saying all is agreed and the only think pending is his medical which should take place later this evening?

If he produces the form he showed for atletico and porto he will be a brilliant signing and there are few (if any) more deadly than him in the box. He scores against the big teams regularly too and is quicker and better with the ball than people give him credit for. If falcao is producing the goods and rooney and rvp are fit, who do you think will suffer the most?

The Falcao deal has pissed off Carragher and Phil Thompson, which is an added bonus on the side.

They're gutted aren't they. Watching them both on SSN you can literally see the bitterness dripping off them.

They replaced Suarez with Balotelli - we've replaced Hernandez with Radamel Falcao

This is an unbelievable window  A muppets' dream come true.

Beyond my wildest dreams.

Sure you could say should have bought a defender or whatever... but sometimes an opportunity presents itself and you've just got to go after it since it strengthens the team. Fergie said as much several times back in the day.

For Holland. A couple of years back? Don't think he was much good, as it happens. Still, Rooney's as versatile as they come. Something @Brwned has pointed out loads of times before. I suspect he's being contrary here.
I am not sure that is the case anymore. Any time in recent years I have seen him out wide he has struggled for the most part (including against us) although I don't think he was as bad vs Italy at the world cup as people suggested. With his declining pace and energy I don't think playing him out there would be great or beneficial to the team in the long run.

RVP, easily because Rooney is Captain and he is a better second striker.

Never liked Rooney out wide. He used to do a battling job there at times to allow Ronaldo more freedom, but in general he looks out of place there in an attacking sense.

Rvp simply doesn't have the pace to play there IMO.

Would love to be proven wrong of course.

His days as a winger are long gone but he could definitely play wide in a front three. Woy's mistake was playing him on the same side as Stevie G, so Rooney and Baines had the entire left flank to defend between them. If he'd put a CM with a bit more legs and defensive nous on that side of the pitch Rooney wouldn't have had to get up and down the wing so much.

If we get Vidal too then we can safely it has been the best summer in terms of transfer since i can remember.

Not really. He seems to like receiving the ball out on the left, when possible. A good example being that cross he put in for Valencia;s goal last season (against Schalke?)

So who is going to provide chances for Falcao? Di Maria can't do it all himself.

Herrera? Mata? Rooney? Blind has a killer pass on him too, Shaw will also give us some distribution from the left, Rojo created more chances than any defender in the world cup.

 both Rooney and RvP can play out wide.

Not getting into a debate about "world class" but all the best clubs would have incredibly expensive players on the bench, on the rare occasion they have a fully fit and available squad.

Well, it can be expected that at least one of our front three will be out at any given time - especially with van Persie's injury record and Falcao's recent issues.

Rooney? No chance.

One of the three will have to be on the bench you would think, but if we continue playing two up top and an attacking midfielder then there is more than enough space for rotation between Mata/Rooney/Van Persie/Falcao.

I don't think it's a problem, but we should send Danny on loan because he'll struggle to get games now and he needs to be playing regularly to continue his development.

Falcao...Who would have expected it

Anyway if Hernandez is going to Madrid and RvP is having knee surgery, this is a perfect move. If something happens to Rooney or he gets out of form (fully expected) , we need another world class player to fill the void: and no its not Danny Welbeck

Van Gaal has said that Rooney has told him he can play on the wings but van Gaal disagrees so that likely rules that one out. I'd be amazed if Van Persie plays out wide for us too.

If you look at Madrid they'd have the likes Isco, Illaramendi and Varane as their expensive bench players and all of them are yong and lernin'. Similarly Bayern have Gotze, Thiago and Javi Martinez. All of these players are long-term replacements for players entering their 30s. Chelsea are largely the same with Schurrle, Salah and Zouma (all bought for under £20m). Willian is their only real exception there. I don't think Barcelona have anyone expensive on their bench if Suárez, Messi and Neymar can hit it off. Maybe Rakitic at a stretch. City seem to be the only one with a bench of £20m+ players. Maybe PSG too?

In any case you can't group Chelsea and City in the same sentence there because their squad is now very well balanced in terms of positions, age and quality - that's what we should be aiming for.

Bit worried about these myself. But so long as our loan also has an option not to buy, then it's all good.
Lots are saying it's only a 'loan' by name so as to make it easier for Monaco with FFP. It's better for them to get the James money this summer and Falcao money next summer, hence the loaning for this year and paying the fee then. It looks like a permanent move. His agent said it was.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport it is a one year loan at 12 million € + the wage (other 12 million)

Irrespective of age, all those players you mention would walk into the first XI of "lesser" clubs and cost a fortune to sign. Well and good assuming that they're happy sitting on their heels in case, one day, their time will come but they will also be acutely aware of players who wasted years sitting on the bench at those clubs and never got that first XI slot they're holding out for. Don't think it's any more difficult to manage young egos than it is to manage those of players who are a bit longer in the tooth. The opposite if anything.

I'm sure we are aiming to have a squad as balanced as City and Chelsea's. Be foolish not to. Of course, Mourinho/Pellegrini didn't create those squads in a single transfer window, so what makes you think that Van Gaal should be able to do what they couldn't?

Howard Nurse reckons he'll be having his medical at the Cliff later.

I'm also not happy, he will be 29 soon and we dont really need him, with RVP, Welbeck,Roo, Wilson, rather have we go all out for Moutinho.

So, you and me are the only one(at least from those who saw my post). Can I be your friend, I'll start by following you.

Falcao already has 2 goals this season. Also scored the winner against Arsenal in a pre season game.
