I've not read through the pages like I usually do but my biggest concern with this is his knee was knackered not too long. Anterior cruciate if I'm not mistaken. Can someone tell me what the caf's prognosis is on his knee and fitness? Ta

Anyone else not happy with this signing at all? I am even allowed to post here that I am not happy with this?

Yup its because of how he was with new transfers at Bayern that he didn't give approval for and then the unbalanced stuff here. I was going with the assumption that Welbeck wants to leave because he isn't getting enough football, but you'd think if RvP truly was out then Welbeck would get games? Maybe he just wants to leave anyways.

The Welbeck thing is all a bit of a mystery. It's possble that he just wanted out, to have more games guaranteed. It's also likely that Van Gaal's been told to try and offset all this spending by selling off a few players who can earn a reasonable fee and Welbeck fits the bill.

Can someone please tell me which page the muppetry started so I can have an entertaining read. This came out of nowhere.

Around page 6-7 is when the Columbian journo rumours started rolling in...

People like me dismissed it as agent rumour mongering to up City's or Arse's price...

Then I woke up to the news that we have signed the finest pure striker on Earth in a tasty (and pretty safe) loan deal!!!

I'm astounded, this is already the best window in decades for us, easily. And I'm hearing rumours that another midfield signing is highly possible.

Buckle up - it's gonna be an insane season.

I don't think falcao is quick. He relies on his movement. Definitely not one to inject any pace into the team.

He is not lightning, but he can shift probably slightly quicker than Rooney I reckon

Really hope this isn't true. Sounds like the club trying to flex it's muscled rather than do the right things. What a waste.

He is the best Striker in the world to be honest, he is not going to be cheap.

Yeah, he's way too old to be playing for Madrid.

Yeah, could be... But then we go on and sign Falcao (albeit on loan). Maybe he just doesn't think Welbeck has it in him to become a top striker, just not lethal enough or get into enough dangerous positions so figures he'd rather give the chance to Wilson? Time will tell how Van Gaal plans on doing it or if its just Woodward trying to redeem himself and get a good reputation after he got a hammering last year, I wouldn't like it if that was the case though.

Can't believe we have actually signed him. Didn't make sense at all until I saw hints that RVP is potentially injured (explains his poor performances of late). Does still lock us in to two up top

What? We've spent around 40 million pounds on striker who will be 29 in 5 months time ?

It's a fecking loan deal. We can worry about what clauses are in the deal, and whether United will have to buy him outright, in 12 months time.

At the thought of Arsenal signing him.

And now when reported United were in for him. I can smell your bitterness.

My stance hasn't really changed has it? I was only arsed if Arsenal got him. And I've been massively complimentary of some of your summer signings.

What...the actual feck? I remember a rumour about us signing him surfacing before the window opened, and it sounded like the purest bollox you could make up. I mean why on earth would we buy another striker, especially one who's 28 years old and has issues with his knees?
I feel like I'm trapped in football manager, and we're being controlled by a 10 year-old or something.

Why bothered if Arsenal get him?

Strange, I'm not sure who is more pissed off with us signing one of, if not the best #9 in world football, rivals fans or our own fans..

@Orton

For me Costa proved the past 18-20 months that he has more to his game than just goals. I follow Atletico and thought last year that Costa surpassed Falcao's form at Atletico. Delivered in the CL too, and now doing the same in England.

You can't say that, Falcao has been the main creative force for Atleti, when he was there, he didn't have a team build for him. Falcao in form is the best striker out there.

And the fact that you talk about goals for Diego Costa shows that you don't know him, because it's the contrary Costa was a striker who couldn't deliver goals and he begin to score only lately. he always have been a sort of powerful second striker.

If United have to buy him, then it's not fecking loan deal.

I think the line up will be:

- - - - - - - - - - - -De Ge - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - Jones - - - Smalling - - - Rojo - - - -

Rafael - - - - - Carrick / Blind - - - - - - Shaw

- - - - - - Herrea - - - - - - di Maria - - - -

- - - - - - - Rooney - - - - - Falcao - - - - -

So it's basically the end for Mata and RvP? That would make the deal for me even less appealing tbh. but if LvG thinks this is the way to go I'll have to trust him.

Before his injury he was the best no 9 out there. Who can forget the 4 goals vs Chelsea? He's absolutely clinical with either foot. If he can recapture any of that form he will be a great signing.

If United have to buy him, then it's not fecking loan deal.

We don't know that they do! Everyone who wants to think the worst of United will say that. But it'd be kind of surprising if United did not have get out clauses, in case of major injury etc. And if it's a a permanent deal disguised as a loan to beat FFP then UEFA would probably be a little bit pissed...
