It seems everywhere is reporting this is a perma deal either by virtue of option to buy at the end of the loan, or deal set up to get around Monaco's issues with FFP.

Either way I am delighted! No harm in competition up front and sets a real statement of intent to everyone else. We may be struggling but we will STILL sign the best players in the world.

These deals wouldn't have happened under Moyes. LVG has that pulling power along with us being Manchester United.

Falcao#9, Di Maria#7

Yes.

looks sweet
Falcao out wide? Hmmm.

It'll be like more of a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 and less like a 4-3-3/4-4-2 like that of Real Madrid last season. Rooney doesn't have the dribbling, pace, and technique needed to play on the left channel, so I doubt we'll see him roam around the left channel enough in this formation.

My feeling tells me we'll play the AZ Alkmaar 4-4-2 with di Maria coming into the middle to help out defensively and going out to the left channel when we're attacking. Rooney will play the Litmanen role behind Falcao, IMO.

Watching Di Maria play the cl final and his debut, asking him to do a defensive job is not a good idea. He will ball watch and be very casual getting back to help his team, as you would expect from a forward/winger

-----------De Gea
Rafael----Jones---Rojo---Shaw
----------Carrick(Blind)
Herrera(Januzaj)--------Di Maria
---------Rooney(Mata)
-----RVP---------Falcao

Never mind top 4, that team should be one of the favorites for the Champions League trophy on paper.

DDG
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
Herrera Di Maria
Mata
Rooney Falcao RVP

Muppets dream. Wouldn't work but it'd scare the feck out of the opposition team

After all Neville's 'do it the United way' stuff last year, he's finally gone full muppet!

It happens to the best of us.

I don't mean him doing a proper job defensively that the likes of Blind and Herrera would. I mean in terms of adding bodies into midfield like how Koke and Turan do for Atletico, defensively. Rooney's defensively poor, and Herrera and Blind will struggle against 3-man midfields without the extra midfielder helping them out. Having di Maria congest the midfield and close down the opposition team's outlet in midfield.

Just 1 massive injury just (ACL I think) before the WC, iirc. Could be wrong though. Too excited to google his appearance stats. ;)
His stats in 12/13 was fantastic, doesn't seem to have problems before ACL injury.

Because a loan deal with option to buy sounds better that paying 50mil outright.

Oh right, thought you was against signing him on a permanent deal.

I hate loan deals, makes your squad look better than it really is - Just well pleased this is 'seemingly' a permanent deal, couldn't care less about fees and what not.

The thing that really doesn't make sense is that LVG was moaning at the lack of balance in the squad with too many #10's and strikers, so why go and sign Falcao a few weeks later?

He had one to his right knee in 2006 as well (the recent one was on his left). 9 months out back then.

RVP's fitness problems and Rooney being..well a bit shit. Hernandez is gone and Welbeck could likely leave too.

Chich & Welbeck off I'd imagine.

With Welbeck and Chicharito seemingly on their way out, we may be getting Falcao so that we can have 3 established forwards rather than 2 + 1 promising forward in Wilson. Plus, we've sold Kagawa, so Mata's our only proper #10 with Rooney and Januzaj both able to play there though not actual #10's at the moment.
