Radamel Falcao | Ducker: Medical passed!

A year or two ago the entire Caf agreed Falcao and RvP were the best strikers in the world but it was very much 50/50 as to who was better.

Now we have both of them.

Madness.

Aye, I'm just not sure that makes much sense.

But then again a £6million loan to cover Van Persie seemed too good to be true. Ah well.

You're not the only one, Theon. Many of us are baffled by this transfer.

Isn't Falcao still not the master of his own fate, with his transfer rights in possession of some shady agency or something? It may not be his own decision at all if it's the same kind of move as the Monaco one.

Good read on why it's a good move for Monaco regarding FFP (good to know about this stuff anyway):
http://www.nufcblog.org/2011/03/amo...a-football-clubs-profit-figures/#.VARYf_l_vD8

So the longer the contract and the higher the fee, the longer you want to wait to sell that player for max profit.

Been on nights, went to bed last night hearing he was City bound for £56m and woke up to this

How the feck has it happened?

Waking up to this in the USA. Great news and more pace in the team he is a better version of tevez at can finish with both feet. Exciting times. Any more woody?

No Monaco had to purchase him completely, he is "free".

Does this explain the Cavani links all this year? With the Van Persie situation and what not?

I know we could have said the same about Di Maria, but hopefully this will strike a little bit of fear back into our opponents at very least.

Better version of Tevez? More of a goalscorer, yes, but Tevez is a better dribbler and is better at creating chances than Falcao is. Heck, van Persie and Rooney are both better at creating chances for others than Falcao is, but then again, Falcao is a purer #9 than the aforementioned names.

On a side note, RedCafe existed in 1999? How was it back in those days?

He was average speed, but can run with the ball. Similar to RVP, but Falcao was a more powerful runner - looks stronger and harder to stop
Also seems to have a trick or 2 up his sleeve, which helps cover for the lack in speed.

It makes perfect sense if RVP does indeed need the op on his knee.

Also, LVG was moaning after the Burnley game about the missed chances. RVP and Rooney have no notable competition for their places so presumably this is to provide that competition. With Welbeck and Hernandez going who else is there but Wilson?

this is my formation: I would move Rooney finally to midfield.

De Gea

Rafael---Jones---Blind---Rojo---Shaw

Herrera---Rooney

Mata

Di Maria--- Falcao

Bench: Lindegaard, Evans, Smalling, Fletcher, Carrick, Januzaj, RVP

I cannot see LVG shifting from his formation and I feel given the players we brought in, it seems like the best way to fill all the players in. Only issues is Rooney in CM but given his form as a striker, it has to be something that will happen.

I doubt van Gaal will go with this lineup. Blind is poor as a central defender, and Rooney's very, very poor as a deeper central midfielder.

Little something for the day!

Rojo still in Madrid at embassy?

I am laughing Golden Homer.

Woodward is like Lil' Jon - asking us all - Turn down for what?!

Didn't expect this the other night when we were chatting about Di Maria buddy. I did say there might be a surprise though!

Whats your thoughts? I am hearing it is a loan with option for permanent move at end of the season

It's the last thing I expected!

I'm pleased with it but at the same time it's another instance of neglecting to address the real issues in the team. We already have a great set of strikers and number 10's with the problems further back in midfield and defence. It's like giving your car an expensive new paint job when the engine isn't working. Particularly if Van Gaal persists with the 3-5-2 then I'm really surprised he didn't prioritise a centre back or wingback, considering that's where our biggest problems are.

But really, although it doesn't make too much sense I'm pleased overall and it'll be fantastic to watch Falcao in a United shirt! Going forward we're capable of playing some wonderful football, particularly when Di Maria and Herrera start clicking in midfield.

Guess so. But if we knew about Van Persie's situation, why did we leave it so late? There was every chance City or Madrid could have snapped up Falcao. This looks to me like we were offered a bargain deal and decided to take it.

If van Persie needs the surgery and will be out for a long while, and if Welbeck and Chicharito both are currently leaving us, then getting in Falcao may make sense. Plus, this could mean that we'll move on van Persie after this season if we're getting Falcao permanently in the next summer.

Just saw this (not sure if been posted yet):-

Falcao's agent: "It is a permanent deal but due to the fair play rules the first year must be a loan."

Well hopefully we get some clarity on this mystery van Persie injury and if he does need an operation on his knee? I have seen nothing other than an article in the Mirror! Then things will make more sense.

In relation to centre half I have heard rumours about Vlaar to sign today..

There could be more business!

I think you're right. Also additional mitigating factors materializing at the same time: Chicharito to Real and Welbeck to whoever.

I think we might see Rooney on the left a lot if we go to 4-3-3

van Gaal did say, earlier, that he sees him as a #9 or 10 and not as a winger. I think we'll see more of Rooney behind or beside Falcao.

They've got the Rodriguez money this year, presume they'll want the rest to account for next years considering they don't really have many more players who they can sell for a lot.

That does make a bit of sense. Might that be what put off Madrid ?

Little something for the day!

Possibly heresy to suggest this, but someone should re-do that Cantona one where he is surrounded by the classes of 92 and 93 with all of our summer business.

Surely that doesn't mean United are worried about FFP? Sounds like bullshit to me.

No idea what picture that is, PM me if you find it.

It is to do with Monaco I believe

Either way it looks like there is the option there for a full move following the loan which the club and player are happy with.

Good times.

It spreads itself out over 3 seasons (FFP) so if we don't make the Champions league this year we'll need to spread our spending out to make sure we don't go over, over a 3 season period. Make sense?
