Wow!! Speechless. Does this mean RVP is done for the season or atleast half a season? I can't even decide how to react to this news. What a glorious summer summer it has been as a muppet,my first on the caf!!

Says to me that some serious money is being spent elsewhere, we weren't anywhere near being in breach of the regulations were we ?
Could be refering to Monaco. If they've balanced the books already for this season then the cash will be a starter for next season's spend … it's a reach quite frankly and I much prefer your take on the situation although we are probably about £200m off that still!

As far as I understand, this year of ours will not be accounted for in FFP as we are not in Europe.

How so ? I'm not completely savvy when it comes to Monaco but surely they would prefer to have the money in if they were close to being in trouble. Between that and Rodriguez going ...
I'd imagine that would mean they could put out that they recieved a big fee this summer for James, and then a big fee next summer for Falcao?

This better be a loan, with the option to buy. Committing £50 odd mil to a player whose just come back from a ACL injury would be stupid beyond belief.

They've got the Rodriguez money this year, presume they'll want the rest to account for next years considering they don't really have many more players who they can sell for a lot.

You sure? I'm no FFP expert but I thought it was more complicated than that, and that you'll face complications when you do reach Europe? Based on amortisation/depreciation and other things like that.

Extremely disappointed with this deal even tough Falcao is an amazing player. It simply forces a 2 striker system again, where i had hope it would be reverted to a 433 after this drama.

He's stunning. Van Persie, Mata and Falcao up front

FFP doesn't work like that, it is calculated on a 3 years period.

Agree should be tested for the year.

Not too sure. You are Liverpool fan, right? I had read somewhere that one year of Liverpool where they made losses wasn't accounted for in FFP. Any idea?

It really doesn't, a 4-2-3-1 would work equally well. I highly doubt any manager in the world would play Falcao, Rooney and RvP at the same time.

Same reason as with Torres' "loan" to Milan. It's about the amortization of the amount initially spent on the player over the duration of his contract. So if they sell him after only on year, they'll lose out on a lot of money. All this tax-stuff and FFP is a lot more complicated than just "Sell for amount X = Profit of amount X"

Absolutely love this, be harping on all window about getting another striker to put some attacking threat into the team. Icing on the cake is now a DM, Been an absolutely brilliant window, but really we shouldn't have been put in this position to buy all at once.

No im expecting RvP to be dropped as Rooney is the captain. And Rooney as #10 on paper still doesn't mean he actually plays that way like we saw last season. It will be the 352 i guess.

That's true, we did. As far as I know that was because FFP wasn't completely in place at that stage, but again I'm not that well read on it so I could be wrong.

Anyone else worried about his Monaco record? 13 goals in 22 games in a shit league isn't reassuring.

Exactly. So Monaco getting all their money from James and Falcao this year wouldnt be as good as having Falcao money stagerrered over 4 years.

Come on, the lad is beautiful. Glad I can see him play again in a team I respect! My favourite goal of his:

I think a fit Falcao will do better than RvP.
