On the surface we might not need him but sometimes you need to move players on and freshen up the squad.

Now go get Vidal

Where does the "the deal is permanent"-quote come from? I've only seen it tweeted by United fan-accounts.

This place is unbelievable..
We are shifting Chich and Welbeck, RvP looks like an old man at the mo and people on here are still moaning about signing one of the best strikers in the world on loan.

Beyond fecking belief

Finally Di Maria has a quality striker who's isn't currently sh*t to pass to!

A permanent deal doesn't make as much sense. As a loan it's fantastic so I really hope it's with an option to buy, considering he's coming back from a long lay off and the squad is stacked with top forwards.

Now the FFP stuff makes sense. I forgot that Monaco may face FFP problems given the Russian owner's large amount of investment without enough return in revenue. With the fee paid for Falcao, the amortization would be huge, so this 1-year loan towards a permanent deal makes even more sense.

EDIT: As an add-on, there's absolutely nothing on ManUtd.com about this, not even on the United Today live blog. I guess we're close to getting this deal sorted.

Exactly. So Monaco getting all their money from James and Falcao this year wouldnt be as good as having Falcao money stagerrered over 4 years.

Yeah, you're right. If they think that they won't be able to generate money. It's better for them to have several big installments.

a bit out of leftfield this one but when you think about it, it makes sense.

I'm delighted. With this and the DiMaria deal, United are finally laying that ghost that they dont sign the finished superstars

You sure? I'm no FFP expert but I thought it was more complicated than that, and that you'll face complications when you do reach Europe? Based on amortisation/depreciation and other things like that.

We can easily spend 180mil and break even this year.

Meh! Great player and all, but another striker, really? We won't score goals if there's poor service to them. That said, we have quite a lot of players (midfielders) to come back.

You'll be happy to know that, according to Falcao's agent, it's a year-long loan with a permanent deal confirmed after the loan.

Another transfer the British media didn't see coming until it was practically done.

United crosses like theres no tomorrow and never succeeds with it.

The answer: Change our play style! Bring El Tigre!

I definitely didn't think I'd wake up this. This is amazing. I've got that shitty "this is my horse, my horse my horse is amazing" song running through my head with Falcao replacing my horse.

Didn't expect this the other night when we were chatting about Di Maria buddy. I did say there might be a surprise though!

Whats your thoughts? I am hearing it is a loan with option for permanent move at end of the season

Aye, I'm just not sure that makes much sense.

But then again a £6million loan to cover Van Persie seemed too good to be true. Ah well.

I'm missing something here, why would Monaco be in breach for selling him? Surely the breach is only affixed to the spending party?

My guess. They want him off the wages bill now, but they're OK on the transfer account having sold James. Next summer the Falcao money is more useful to them.

Man, other fans on TalkSport are not happy about this Falcao deal. Apparently, no one can get their head around the deal and he's using us as a stepping stone to go to Madrid next year.

That's what I thought the Monaco move was.
