Radamel Falcao | Ducker: Medical passed!

What the hell are you guys thinking? As good as Falcao is (or was, haven't seen him play in quite a while), this deal doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Is LvG in on this, because I doubt that he's that daft. Does he want to turn Rooney into a DM?

I'm baffled by this.
Apparently RvP will need a knee op, so not that different to you guys signing Xabi Alonso after Martinez'/Schweinsteiger's injury problems.

I am not saying it can't work.

I am saying we have much bigger needs as sorta indicated here..

Herrera, Blind, Rojo, and Shaw aren't enough? Our issue isn't much on the squad personnel. It's more on adjusting to the new system along with the weak mentality of our players. Once those two things are sorted, we'll perform much better.

It litterally makes no sense.

I get that we might want to replace Hernandez but he was fourth choice striker, Wilson will do fine. This is a strike force to conquer Europe with, just a shame we aren't in it, or that we can't seem to create a damn thing for the two great strikers we already have.

Rooney, Van Persie and Falcao. Has there ever been a greater set of strikers?

Is it bollocks baffling. RVP is clearly lined up for surgery and, for all we know, we might not see him this season. Even with a fit RVP we were struggling to compete and without him possibly mid table. Kaboom - Falcao on loan and problem solved.

Outstanding piece of business form the men in suits with the Brucie bonus of City not getting even more firepower on board.

Something to remember though, Welbeck and Hernandez accounted for almost all the pace in our frontline. If they are gone and Falcao comes in, we have literally no speed from our forwards. That fast option in behind the defence will be completely gone.

Yes there's Wilson, but no he wont play often and if anything bringing Falcao in means he will play less. He could get in the team in front of Hernandez and Welbeck, but Falcao? Rooney? RVP? off the bench at most...

I have not seen a huge amount of Falcao, but isn't he quick?

3-5-2: De Gea; Jones, Evans, Rojo; Rafael, Herrera, Blind, Di Maria, Shaw; Rooney; Falcao.

Looking at that I'd replace Evans with a quality centre half. However, that looks like a minor op not heart surgery.

United next year?

----RVP--Falcao--Cavani---Fellaini----
Di Maria -- Rooney - Mata -- Valencia
---------------Herrera--------------
---------Blind----------Fellaini-------------
----------------DDG---------------

Coach: Diego Maradonna

As if one was not enough!

The difference is that pretty much our entire designated starting midfield got injured to the extent that a 17 year old got a start. While RvP is important, he is, in my eyes, not as important as finally getting a decent midfielder and/or CB (preferrably both). Your attack can compensate RvP, but Falcao can't compensate the lack of defensive stability.

So, we have Wayne Rooney, we have Robin van Persie, we're trying to sell our 3rd choice striker to a top 5-7 club, we're loaning our 4th choice striker to the world's biggest club, and we're about to sign one of the best #9's in the world on loan.

Meanwhile, in London...

I have absolutely no idea how LvG will make all three strikers (who all presumably will want to play every game when fit) happy though, but that's not my headache! Surely LvG won't drop his darling RvP? Rooney shifted to a midfield role or even marginalised? Will be interesting to see!

With our injury record, it should be easy to keep them all happy.

Seriously though. With all of them fit, that is some crazy competition for places.

RVP needs surgery.
We need a forward to replace him.
Hernandez not good enough all round forward.

This made sense and a loan deal suggests we know what we are doing. Yes we need a CB, but look how we did with RVP out for huge periods last season? Can't risk that again.

If RvP's out for surgery then this is a great bit of business. If he's not, then it's a bit strange but hey, that's why Van Gaal is paid the big bucks. Up to him to keep our three big name strikers happy and motivated.

Can't help feeling a little bit sad that this means Welbeck is entirely surplus to requirements. The departure of him and Cleverley means our next team based mainly on home grown talent looks more remote than ever.

Absurd signing to appease the fans and make the squad even more difficult to manage. Great stuff.

I remember Van Gaal very fondly and am one of his biggest fans since his Bayern days and I remember that he hated to spend big, loved to blood young players and was just overall a very smart guy. This, though... he's other gone senile, isn't in on the transfer at all or... there's a super secret plan to turn De Gea into a DM while placing Falcao in goal. Wouldn't put it past the man. You know what they say about genius and madness.

But were Bayern in the same kind of state we are in?

Great signing, he guarantees goals and has great variation in the goals he scores too. I'm genuinely shocked. I'm inclined to believe the £12m loan fee reported by Ducker as €20m has been touted around this whole summer and if the fee was £6m, you'd imagine that Real would have gone after him, instead of Hernandez even if Falcao is on higher wages.

Rooney is our captain, find it hard to believe he'll be marginalised in any way, except if he's playing really shit

I still hope Welbeck will only be a loan deal and he comes back to stake his claim next season with one of RvP/Falcao moved on. Cleverley, let's just say I am glad (hopeful?) he is leaving this season itself.

Phil Neville just put a pic of Falcao on his instagram.

He's a muppet like the rest of us.

English media making stuff up? That's a shocker.
That's what you get with rolling 24 hours based on speculation I guess. Seriously though, happy at this, but surprised to say the least, especially given our priority list.

Isn't his agent Jorge Mendes? Which could be why we've been able to strike the deal at a more reasonable fee.
