I mean this, if anything, proves that we were never seriously in for Vidal. This deal literally happened overnight. This is how quick we can be in signing players if we want them. If anything, it shows Manchester United are still the biggest sports brand in England.

And I mean, this is the same as buying a gun when you're having trouble swimming. It won't help you with the swimming bit, but you do have a fecking gun now.
Might as well take that for what it's worth.

Also this will make us far less toothless going forward.

Di Maria --- Rooney --- Januzaj
----------- Falcao -------------

So it doesn't decrease the likelyhood of us conceding, but it increases the likelyhood of us scoring. I'll take it.

I still think it's all a bit unnecessary, but I can't help but feel excited. The guy is absolute class.

So what we thinking....

quote from a gunner

' They replaced RvP before we did. Hahahaha .... I'm going to go cry. '

So true.

On the Guardian's transfer page, the headline is still: "Arsenal and Manchester City battle it out for Falcao"

Wtf? SSN was saying he was off to City in a done deal yesterday. If we can get in a CB too that would be great.

The only way I see this working is either RVP or Mata lose out. In think Falcao and RVP are far too similar for it to work, but I cannot see LVG ostracizing him. Weird, weird signing if you ask me. Sure our strikers have no movement and Falcao would help but what was all that talk of an unbalanced squad?

This is just stupefying... we need CMs and CBs... :wenger:.

I mean we already play a 3-5-2 to sort Mata, Rooney, and RVP. Now what... 2-5-3?

I'd say you wanna kill someone and you have a gub and you can only reach him by swimming. If you swim well to reach the target, the gun will do the job.

That's exactly my view. I think van Gaal doesn't like Mata's lack of movement, and van Persie and Rooney play too similarly to each other. However, what does Falcao offer that Rooney and van Persie don't? Falcao's quicker, stronger, and better aerially, but does that really matter if we don't have much width in our team based on recent performances?

This signing seems like the Mata one. We don't need but are getting as he is on the market... but makes me angry and confused why we didn't get Fabregas if we are making signings like this... Fabregas has looked class in every game for Chelsea so far and would have elevated our play ten folds... Also, what does this mean for RVP?

BBC Sport's Frank Keogh: "As news emerged of Manchester United agreeing a loan deal with Monaco for striker Radamel Falcao, a plane was spotted flying over Old Trafford.

"Rumours swirled around - Could it be the new signing arriving, a welcome message or maybe even some kind of protest?

"It turns out the banner read "Get the fax out of football" - a publicity stunt from a firm promoting digital transactions, rather than the paperwork associated with Transfer Deadline Day.

"Sorry to let the fax get in the way of a good story."

I think RvP loses out here to be honest. I don't see Van Gaal dropping Rooney after making him captain. RvP will play but possibly not as much as we would expect to see.

I think we'll drop Rooney into midfield in the mould of Vidal. I think van Gaal doesn't think the Rooney and RvP partnership can work and that's why we've gone for Falcao. Welbeck is better suited as a winger but reports say he wants to play CF and Hernandez isn't good enough. I just hope this loan deal doesn't hamper the chances of Wilson getting a few games.

"A plane is expected to come into Manchester airport at 4.50pm this afternoon from Nice and our sources expect..." And its gonna be Berbatov please or both ..

Wow this is insane....

Saw this before i went to bed last night, thought it was bull. Before i went to work saw he was only going to a CL team. Get into work and we have signed him

Up there with the Andy Cole transfer for sure!

Or Mata will be dropped with Rooney playing deeper with Falcao and RVP up top. Or maybe the rumors RVP needs surgery are true.

6 mill loan deal for Falcao would be a great bit of business.

Apparently Madrid turned Falcao down on loan and opted for Chich instead. Also according to Twatter press, he was offered Arsenal or United and he chose United.

So. Let's get this straight. Juve want Chich we send him to Madrid, Juve want Falcao but cannot afford him so we take him instead. Do you think they might be regretting playing hardball with Vidal? a player who obviously wanted to leave as he said feck all to appease the club or fans (until right at the last minute):lol::lol::lol::lol: Now many journos are saying to wait because United haven't finished yet and MAY have more big news to announce in a couple of hours.

The cheese has slid off the deadline day cracker!

Just on this point, it's probably fair enough from Real Madrid as James Rodriguez & Falcao haven't seemed to have the best partnership despite their obvious individual talents. Rodriguez played better at Monaco when Falcao was injured (not sure about their time at Porto?) and Rodriguez wouldn't have been the focal point for Colombia and golden boot winner had Falcao been fit. So if they're to get the best out of their new golden boy it's probably better to have a player like Benzema upfront, with Chicharito a more obvious bench/impact player than a more expensive Falcao.

Whereas with Mata & Di Maria being more assisters hopefully Falcao will be work out here...

Wilson will get a few games but only in the FA Cup or sub appearances when we need something different or are in a comfortable position. I don't think he'll really be relied on to play week in week out at this point.

This all seemed like agent bollocks last night when it broke but fecking hell as if it's actually happening.

Di Maria, Rooney and Falcao all contribute defensively, that's a brilliant balance.

He's not fast, which is annoying. We really lack pace.

His movement and technique is sublime though, even if he isn't the quickest. If he was playing on Saturday he would have nailed a couple of the chances our strikers buggered up.

Are you serious? Holy fecking shit

£6m loan fee... I'll take that!

So, we have Wayne Rooney, we have Robin van Persie, we're trying to sell our 3rd choice striker to a top 5-7 club, we're loaning our 4th choice striker to the world's biggest club, and we're about to sign one of the best #9's in the world on loan.

Meanwhile, in London...
