Radamel Falcao | Ducker: Medical passed!

Well credit to the club for doing this in silence. Nobody saw this coming. What a weird summer.

Feel like a Real Madrid fan. A lot of purchases a little value. Don't think he will work with either RVP or Rooney actually considering he is of the same ilk anyhow. All eggs are in the same basket now, the 5-3-2 has to work perfectly for LVG to deserve to stay here now.

Our front five are all world class, with Falcao as a bench option. In the defense LVG himself has bought Shaw and Rojo himself so there is no excuse for it not working perfectly as well.

His movement and technique is sublime though, even if he isn't the quickest. If he was playing on Saturday he would have nailed a couple of the chances our strikers buggered up.

We'll definatly need Di Maria/Januzaj/Welbeck in the team to provide some genuine pace.

and here I was dreaming of a deadline day deal for Seamus Coleman and hence a switch to 433. This is not making any sense

Absolutely buzzing!
There has to be some doubts about our strikers that we don't know about.

So what we thinking....

I like this formation, but that is a serious lack of width. And we are really going to leave RVP and Januzaj on the bench? In addition all we have at CM for subs of quality is Carrick, and we have no exp in the Defense.

This is just maddening!!

Seriously what the hell is happening? Are we getting Falcao on loan just to spite City or Arsenal? I'm still in shock seeing this news but the sheer pointlessness of this move has me confused. We've gone from having three big name players we can't drop to five and they all play in similar positions. Thank god it's a loan but we're only in two competitions now. This is complete madness I'm struggling to wrap my head around.

Worth it just to prevent Arsenal getting a quality striker in. Could well end up being the difference betwewn CL or no CL, even if he doesn't play a single minute for us.

I think he'll do brilliantly here, for all the stick our wingers get (not saying it's undeserved) we don't exactly have strikers who throw themselves at crosses the way Falcao does. I expect Young and Valencia to rack up a lot more assists this season compared to last. Best finisher at the club since Ruud imo.

What the hell are you guys thinking? As good as Falcao is (or was, haven't seen him play in quite a while), this deal doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Is LvG in on this, because I doubt that he's that daft. Does he want to turn Rooney into a DM?

I'm baffled by this.

Rooney and Di Maria could provide the width when needed in that formation.

It litterally makes no sense.

That formation can work. Herrera and di Maria can offer us horizontal movement to stretch teams, and both are good crossers of the ball as well. Both also have the energy to go box-to-box. That setup also brings the best out of Mata as Herrera and di Maria's movement and energy will provide Mata with enough space to do the damage to the opposition.

Astonished club kept this so quiet that not even a hint of it came out.

Very good that we have shut shop in sensitive and confidential information.

Can only be achieved if only 3 or 4 people who are completely on the same page know relevant information. Good news as shows LVG and Woodward have already established a very good relationship.

 feck me, I saw this rumour starting on twitter last night before going to bed, and now fecking this? Woodward's gone mad with power! Fair play for jumping on a chance that suddenly arises though, sort of like we did with RvP. Shows that he is actually capable of getting things done quickly when the other club is willing to play ball.

I have absolutely no idea how LvG will make all three strikers (who all presumably will want to play every game when fit) happy though, but that's not my headache! Surely LvG won't drop his darling RvP? Rooney shifted to a midfield role or even marginalised? Will be interesting to see!

When i left today morning it was page 14 or so and now its 41? what a turnaround

I might be late to the party but could this have anything to do with RVP's supposed knee surgery?

That's exactly my view. I think van Gaal doesn't like Mata's lack of movement, and van Persie and Rooney play too similarly to each other. However, what does Falcao offer that Rooney and van Persie don't? Falcao's quicker, stronger, and better aerially, but does that really matter if we don't have much width in our team based on recent performances?

Not to mention that we can't actually create any chances

Welcome to the club, mate. I, and many of our members, are as baffled as you are. Plus, is van Gaal actually this insane, or does he have no say on this transfer?

I do not understand. How, what, why? Feck. RVP's knees must be falling off.

Not to mention that we can't actually create any chances

Chance creation will come once we stretch opponents and create space in the middle. If we can't manage to stretch teams, then we'll have zero creativity.

Something to remember though, Welbeck and Hernandez accounted for almost all the pace in our frontline. If they are gone and Falcao comes in, we have literally no speed from our forwards. That fast option in behind the defence will be completely gone.

Yes there's Wilson, but no he wont play often and if anything bringing Falcao in means he will play less. He could get in the team in front of Hernandez and Welbeck, but Falcao? Rooney? RVP? off the bench at most...

Woody is a beast, ruthless with getting sponsorship and transfer done.

United next year?

----RVP--Falcao--Cavani---Fellaini----
Di Maria -- Rooney - Mata -- Valencia
---------------Herrera--------------
---------Blind----------Fellaini-------------
----------------DDG---------------

Coach: Diego Maradonna

Butthead had proved to be one hell of a muppet. This is the most unbalanced Man United ever

I am not saying it can't work.

I am saying we have much bigger needs as sorta indicated here..

I noticed how many times Di Maria sent in quick balls that no-one in our team had a chance of running on to. He's used to creating for Ronaldo and Bale not Rooney and Mata

Fellaini ain't good enough to be in one place, let alone two.

Pace up front isn't necessary as long as we have players who can stretch teams. di Maria and Herrera can do this along with Januzaj. If we play with a 4-man-defence setup, we have the players to not need pace from our forwards.

I remember Van Gaal very fondly and am one of his biggest fans since his Bayern days and I remember that he hated to spend big, loved to blood young players and was just overall a very smart guy. This, though... he's other gone senile, isn't in on the transfer at all or... there's a super secret plan to turn De Gea into a DM while placing Falcao in goal. Wouldn't put it past the man. You know what they say about genius and madness.
