Wait, we're looking to buy him? I thought it was just a loan. Can't see the tweets right now.

Would be really stupid if we spent big on this guy.

Shades of Berbatov...

Berbatov was at Spurs and had been linked with us for a while.

Falcao is a proper global elite 'superstar'. The best pure striker on Earth. And he hasn't been linked with us at all since about 5 hours ago - he's been linked with Real and City.

This would blow the Berbatov transfer way out of the water. In fact, this would blow every transfer out of the water since we signed Eric Cantona.

It won't happen, but if it did...wow.

It is awful.

Di Maria needs to be on the wing and not a midfielder.
Fletcher needs to be a coach rather than a player
Blind we haven't even signed yet but is average at best
Herrera is unproven in the Prem
Carrick is 33 and has been injured for a while after an awful season last year

Not even average the state of it.
Di Maria needs to be on the wing? Have you seen him at Madrid last season?
Fletcher was a backup who was force to start because of injuries
Blind is a Dutch NT regular and Eridivisie player of the year. I really don't get the Strootman comparison: "If he's any good, LvG wouldn't have to change his system once Strootman is injured". Well, he's not his replacement. They played together to provide balance in midfield. Now we have Herrera and Di Maria, Blind makes perfect sense. We need someone who stays behind with all the running Herrera and Di Maria do, and Blind fits the job.
Herrera, if you seen him play, you'll find that his style of play fits perfectly with the Premiership
Carrick is currently Blind backup.

Falcao seems a strange signing, but maybe RvP injury was more serious than we know. And he guarantee you goals, lots of it. Can't go much wrong with that

He's probably the best and most complete finisher inside the box out there, and I'm still not sure if I want him. This is how weird this potential transfer is.

65 million euros and 4 year deal to make him the highest paid Premier league player, apparently.

LVG conversation with Fergie in Washington.

LVG : The midfield seems to be an issue, I am thinking about buying Vidal..
SAF: Nah, Midfielders don't win you titles. Its the strikers... Go for that lad from Monaco...
LVG: Will get right on it, but what about the midfield..
SAF: Stick Rooney or Rafael in there... Would be better than the current lot...

Exactly my thoughts. This story sounds like a Fergie coup .

So basically we've pulled out of the Vidal deal because of his recent injury but going to pay 65 million for a striker who just recovered from a year out. Doesn't make sense.

Fergie wanted him for the longest time when he was at Porto, back when people were still like "who is he? lol"

:lol::lol:

What the feck is going on?!

Are we seriously close to signing Falcao?

75m for 30 year old crock. Cheers Woody
Watch real matches and you'll see he prefers his right even if his left foot is great. Scored cracking goals with his left.
Honestly signing him would be a waste of money despite the crazy goalscorer he can be, I don't believe he's joining us. That would tell me that something is truly wrong with LVG's brain.

Ha. I don't have enough time to watch anything besides United. I'm actually surprised at the amount of football some people watch!

I just don't see why we're chasing a striker! . As good as a striker Falcao is, almost everyone on the internet is emphatically against this signing.

We don't have enough enough information to be sure about what makes sense and what doesn't.
We wait patiently for either the Brit media to say something about this or for the south american media to wake up to their mornings.

If this is true then we've actually replaced RVP before Arsenal.

Not my money. The man is world class and would give us goals galore for at least three seasons and pay back his transfer handsomely.

But leaves us with a severely unbalanced squad. We'll have three strikers on big money(and we play with two) and we still have problem in other areas of the pitch!

Loaning out Welbeck and buying a 29 year old striker for 60million doesn't make a lot of sense. Welbeck has the quality to be good and it is a bit suprising that the 'promoter of youth' Louis Van Gaal is opting for a star player as opposed to developing promising players like Danny. Sure he would come to Old trafford score a lot of goals but 2 years in, our midfield is still shit and we have a bunch of world class attackers competing for positions. Not that competition is bad but it is an area we should focus on after we've had all our basic positions covered aka Central midfield, central defense.

We're basically repeating what we did two years ago, when our midfield was still shit but Sir Alex knows the club and the squad well enough to get results from the players. This feels like an incredibly short sighted purchase.

If this deal happens I give up. Another striker before we go for a quality defensive midfielder or defender makes 0 sense and will only increase the imbalance in our squad. I really hope this is just made up media bullshit.

I don't believe we're in for him. Its probably a ploy to unsettle City and Arsenal haha

1. We have NO competition for our strikers and Mata - in fact, the three of them start every game no matter what kind of form they're in.

2. We've bought 3 midfielders this window. 2 of them were just playing for their NTs in the world cup semi finals.

3. We haven't actually signed Falcao, and it's surely incredibly unlikely that we will.

WTH is United doing? And I thought Barca spent useless money on players. Do you guys actually have a plan in mind? I know LvG is a top tier coach. But this is just absurd.
After spending this amount of money, I would be very disappointed if you don't win the EPL. There should be no reason now not to win it (if you're spending another 65m). You can't expect to spend 200m in 2 season and not win the EPL.

Why? If we have that much money to throw around, why can't we sign a world class midfielder. There have to be better options out there than what we have

Strootman in January is probably a certainty. And you've to remember that we lost out on a couple of world class midfielders in Kroos and Fabregas.

Why buy a striker when we cannot create chances for the strikers we already have. Pretty sure this is not going to happen, but Falcao must be looking forward with anticipation to those long balls hoofed up field by the defenders.
