Queen Elizabeth II | 1926-2022 | Rest in Peace

Whatever your thoughts on Monarchy, whatever your thoughts on the British Empire, there can't be many people who have done more for peace than Queeny.

Could have kicked up a fuss. Could have disbanded the whole charade. Both would have ended badly in my opinion.

This is a proper showerthought so someone will take it apart but queeny did alright.

Rip from not a fan of royals

Need to think bigger. Turn her into a drone. Don't announce it either.
You're in line with your kids Timothy and Rosalind, when upon hearing a noise you look up, just to be graced with the sight of our dearly departed queen zooming through the sky. I'm sure it'd be possible to get a set up where the cadaver waves its arms too (as in a greeting wave, not like flapping her arms to simulate flying, I don't want this to descend into something comical), so I think this would be a very touching and impactful way for us to say our goodbyes.

Everything’s better when it flies….

‘Mum, dad…why is my sister’s name Elizabeth?’

‘Well we met in the queue for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, that’s who we named her after. A special moment for both of us.’

‘So who am I named after?’

‘No more questions Hospital for Mental Weirdos Who Really Have Wasted 12 Hours in a Queue time for bed.’

What do you think all those people who have waited all night to que up to see the coffin are doing.
And the TV programmes have been showing all of her life from many different perspectives.

So they are celebrating her life by waiting all night to see a wooden box? Ive not watched any of the programmes, on purpose.

"lefty" jakobz

I think that says it all

Drawn out too much at this point, the kids then the grandkids the next day doing a vigil.

Tomorrow the corgis will probably be doing a vigil.

The Royal family is desperate to remain relevant. I'm not a royalist or nationalist and I certainly have full respect for the queens service but the Royal family earn literally tens of millions per year to go on trips around the country and shake peoples hands.

The daily vigils and events to build up to a funeral is so strange. The major events like the moving from Balmoral and processions I get but it's just milking everything at this point.

I'll watch the state funeral, and the coronation in 6 months to a year whenever it happens but the daily newsfeed on the BBC I really don't get, interviews with people who stood in a line for 12 hours. A guy fainting, another guy trying to touch the coffin and being dragged out. Old man shouts at cloud.

Leaving to one side the fact some viewers apparently think he looks like a young William, others Harry, so not the same thing, how the feck has a 14 year old got medals?

The others at least served in the army, regardless of whether they got within 1,000 miles of anything dangerous, at least giving a semblance of service. He's an actual schoolboy.

I prefer to listen to those who have waited all night to walk past a wooden box.
And the vast majority say that they have done that to pay their respects to the Queen for everything she has done for the country over the past 70 years.
One of whom was a close family member who did this unselfish act.

@Jippy, those medals are the Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medals. I know my bro-in-law has them and also the Golden Jubilee one, he's a firefighter. I assume the police have them, too.

Evidently the Queen gave them to her family members.

Perhaps it's a medal for his schools sports day

Ah, ok, that makes sense. Another honoured bestowed solely due to birth.

Yes I them. I didn’t know her family members received them though.

Some of this rabble on here need to start respecting the decorated members of the Caf.

Unselfish? How is this an altruistic act?

She was someone's grandmother. Show some respect!
She's literally lying in a fecking Palace right now as thousands of people risk their health to stand in line to walk past her, and her funeral will cost millions of pounds. In comparison most of our grandmothers are bunged in a hole after sitting in a morgue for a few days. But, yeah, don't say anything naughty about someone's grandmother such as "should this really be paid for by taxpayers" because that would be disrespectful...
