Queen Elizabeth II | 1926-2022 | Rest in Peace

I’ve no idea how much it cost, just take it for what it is, was bloody quite impressive, not something you see everyday or even again in a lifetime.
It's incredible how it's basically Game of Thrones in real life - people in poverty starving and feeding off scraps next to castles where people with nothing apart from their ancestry are feasting and having ceremonies.

Mind-boggling how anyone can be okay with such utterly backward stuff in this age.

Any countries where this isn’t the case?

Guessing poverty occurs in most countries whether a monarchy or a republic

They’ll get more than 40k viewers on YouTube too

You must have similar feelings towards fancy restaurants, sky rise building, and the other luxuries in life.

Stockholm syndrome.

It's bonkers that we have, in the space of 10 days, got the largest numbers of world leaders ever to drop everything and fly over here. I doubt any other country in the world could do that. And I know that every country in the world wishes they could.

It's a ridiculous amount of soft power. There is certainly not a PM, who would be able to command the same response.

Sure it's weird that we put these posh folk in gilded cages and get them to shake hands and hand out prizes, but boy does it work.

So you even watched it then and weren’t even a little impressed given your stand point?

I only watched a few clips here and there on SM and it was a parade, so what? Similar parades happen all the time in countries on various occasions etc. Are people here losing their minds because a few soldiers were able to walk in a straight line?

Well said. Some of those who are most critical are just jealous that the UK can do such events so exceptionally well on a world stage. And no one deserves it more than the late Queen Elizabeth Ii.
Agree mate, I don't get the cynicism..Well I do.

But it's doubtful those in poverty behave the same way.

If people want to celebrate the Queen then that is their right. You obviously don’t and that is your right. Personally I wouldn’t spend most of the day on a forum thread that I had no interest in.

I just thought it was done magnificently and no other country could pull something off like today’s funeral even though I am neutral on the monarchy.

You’re very cynical on everything, if you didn’t like it fair enough I was mistaken..

Not saying the UK is perfect but probably 95% of other countries are worse
When it comes to still behaving as if those born in a certain family have some sort of divine right to rule and the rest of the country has to behave as their subjects/servants etc, sorry but that's not a lot of other countries at least the prominent ones are guilty of. That's North Korea level lunacy.

Of course but why does everyone think the whole world is watching? Most people will see a clip on the news and that's it. Everyone seems very upset that the rest of the world don't feel the same way as the British and a few Commonwealth countries do. Makes no sense.
I think you and others take the 'whole world is watching' way too literally.

A fat cat politician can be removed unless it's a dictatorship. The poverty stricken people won't be lauding their existence either unless they're forced to.
Why haven’t these poor of anti royalists staged a rebellion already if they are so outraged.

Which country does it right? Not going into arguments but just interested which country has it perfect.

Why is it that you have to be in their situation of poverty to be outraged at their situation instead of at least voicing in their support? Such an utterly apathetic comment.

I mean this is just exceptionalism. Countries all over the world organise large scale events successfully.

To be honest, not all countries can do it with a nonce front and centre, so you have to give it to Great Britain for that.

The Queen's dead?

I hadn't noticed.

Of course they can, nobody is stopping them. Why do you say no other country could do what the UK did? I didn't watch any of it but I'll take you word for it. I am neutral on the monachy, but this hyperbole is what annoys people the most, why do people think the world revolves around the UK. People don't seem to be able to think for themselves any more.

You don’t have to be poor to stage a rebellion, if you are so outraged why hasn’t anything been done against it, genuine question, maybe it’s just a handful of cynical people on the internet.

That old chestnut!
