Queen Elizabeth II | 1926-2022 | Rest in Peace

Of course but why does everyone think the whole world is watching? Most people will see a clip on the news and that's it. Everyone seems very upset that the rest of the world don't feel the same way as the British and a few Commonwealth countries do. Makes no sense.

Because they are.... Look how many channels are covering this live world wide. You have about 8 channels in the US alone... Even France have channels showing this live. There is some interest for the amount of media and live coverage across the world to be put on.

Sorry mate, but what a selfish cnut.

"It's not fair, I can't go to the gym :("

First World problems, pathetic.

Millions of people want to get involved, but they should cancel the whole thing so you can go to the gym?

I'm not going to say what I think of you, because I don't think it's worth getting banned over someone so worthless.

You're right of course, but it's as close to being unbiased as any news network gets in my view. They cover both sides politically in a much more impartial manner than the other networks available. Obviously reporters always have a degree of bias which comes across but they employ well from both sides of the argument.

It isn't partisan of course but I do think it's in a weak spot at the moment due to various factors. The Tories are exerting undue influence on it at the moment.

Exactly - I'm allergic to stupidity and nonsense. If people want to pay their respects to the Queen -- no problem at all. If they want to queue up for hours on end to look at a coffin, no problem, seems stupid but that's their choice.

To suggest that people outside of the UK and a few commonwealth countries are as obsessed with what's going on is ridiculous.

I don’t believe anyone said people outside of the UK were ‘obsessed’ with what’s going on? Simply that people around the world will be watching (which they will).

Genuinely don’t see why people have been triggered by it.

It’ll be the single most watched thing in the world today, and by a very long distance. I’m amazed that one YouTube stream has convinced people otherwise.

I also live in London and it's been pretty easy to avoid. Unless he takes everyday strolls down Southbank and enjoys spending his days at the Abbey.. He'd have you think the whole Capital has come to a stand still for 11 days. Apart from some tubelines being a bit busier then it's really not been in your face at all.

Apart from today, i managed to go gym and get out at 10.. the journey back home was very weird as their was nobody about.

Regarding its impartiality, yes, I think they are about as good as it gets. As an organisation, I'm not a fan and wouldn't miss it if it disappeared. I try to be fair regardless of my personal opinion.
they're very pro britain/uk. as you'd expect. and pro-britian means pro-british establishment. it's corporate news with taxpayer funding. they have their biases and they run deep. they ran an institutional campaign against the leader of the opposition. they haven't once questioned whether the monarchy should continue to exist or not. they know it's a prejudiced institution by the fact that it's closed to everyone beyond a select bloodline. they know >20m people within the country want rid of it. they know those >20m fund the bbc. and they refuse to be fair or balanced. there's been 0 republican sentiment.

my last point here is that this funeral embodies all you'd expect of an exclusionist institution. it says, "this state does not belong to you", and the bbc is a fundamental part of that.

@Damien and @Mr Pigeon okayed it. I think they we're all on one each and you know what newbies are like, butter wouldn't melt, and then they get promoted. After a while they can get a bit eggy.

You remind me of Detective Alonzo Harris and his crew from Training Day. Dirty cops/scouts.

This shit’s chess, it ain’t chequers.

Obviously it's on TV and whoever happens to be at home, not many, because they're working or at school or doing other things. Yes it will be today's major event that will be reported on news worldwide. Tomorrow it will be forgotten about in most places.

My office is barely 5 minutes walk from Tower Hill. I did think about wandering over and joining the queue after work last week, but my knee is fecked at the moment and I wouldn't be able to stand up for 8 hours.

I was in America when Diana died, i was also their duriing Will and Kates wedding. Trust me, Americans have it in offices, bars, banks, electronic billboards...

BBC reckon there were 'about' 100 presidents and heads of governments in the abbey today for the funeral that no one is interested in.

I'm genuinely not interested in it myself, but it makes me smile how it winds people up.

Also the Euston-Glasgow train was lovely and quiet this morning.

Yep. I was abroad when it happened and if I didn't go on the Internet on that day I genuinely wouldn't have found out.

Thanks, I'd have made a decent corrupt cop. It's so my nature.

My office is actually in Southbank, overlooks the gardens and jubilee bridge, i went in on Thursday just to swap my laptop and it's wasn't that bad. Even with the queue you can still walk down Southbank/Borough Market cause they stuck to one side.

You never been on a forced work event?

I work in the area too and also went to Blackfriars on Sunday. This was also my experience. Tube wasn't any better or worse than usual. You could still get by to your destination.

FYI, the tate modern had some interesting pieces, including a receipt on the wall. Yup, a shopping receipt. :D

I wouldn’t like to be driving that hearse, she’s probably a bit whiffy after 10 days at room temperature

He's probably on the two-way radio saying 'But I don't go Sawff of the river'.

Well of course the heads of state will go , probably a lot more than 100 but that's what would be expected as they would to any funeral of any person of a major country worldwide. if Biden kicked the bucket, the same would happen.

How dare you not watch it, by the way!
