Queen Elizabeth II | 1926-2022 | Rest in Peace

You have some flag shaggers who want to watch it out of some weird misplaced love for the Queen, and 'what she's done for this nation' but when you ask them 'what she's done' they're strangely unable to articulate it.

You have another group who watch it as they want to be a part and 'see' history in real time.

You have another group who literally have nothing else to do and will watch because everyone else is, and there's nothing else on.

You have another group who aren't watching.

I think that covers it to be honest.

And we have people like you who moan about everything but still post in the thread and have it on TV.

Nothing to do with paranoia Paul.
It is just that she was and to many still is one of the most highly respected woman in world over the last couple of generations. And as such, she deserves all of the pomp and ceremony that goes with a state funeral. It is after all just one day in 70 years of her reign as the Queen of the UK and Commonwealth.

Has everyone really gone down to London just to watch it? It’s dead everywhere today except London.

'Sob sob stop being mean about my Queen'.

It is not like that at all. It is your strange behaviour where you are clearly angry about something, yet instead of removing yourself from it, you persist to engage with it instead.

Well said. Some of those who are most critical are just jealous that the UK can do such events so exceptionally well on a world stage. And no one deserves it more than the late Queen Elizabeth Ii.

The funeral shows her value to the country. Which other individual or soft power institution could bring 500 heads of state and dignitaries together like this? A long reigning and loved Pope maybe? She's probably the greatest diplomat of her lifetime.

Of course but why does everyone think the whole world is watching? Most people will see a clip on the news and that's it. Everyone seems very upset that the rest of the world don't feel the same way as the British and a few Commonwealth countries do. Makes no sense.

This is ridiculous. How can people be watching it, even if they were brainwashed into watching it, during a normal working day. Why would they be watching it? Why wouldn't they watch something else. Why is everyone obsessed with the Queens' funeral?

It’s those who keep coming in here to bitch and moan who seem to be the obsessed ones.

I haven't watched it.

Dude - I live in London. It's pretty difficult to get away from it all.

I couldn't even go to the gym because they closed from 10-2pm.

It's just a nonsensical charade all around.

Which group do you fall into then?

Presumably, you have nothing else to do but watch the funeral and complain about it on a football forum?

They've got The Big Bang Theory on E4, if you want to watch something else :)

Why are you arsed though Paul? I don’t follow. Does it offend you if people want to watch it or wish to pay their respects?

Genuinely don’t get this attitude. Let people do as they please.

I mean you can, your off work today, go at 9am or 2:05pm.

I'm the group that isn't watching (and am on the Caf for the time being instead).

Relatively. No one is perfect

Many countries especially non western do not enjoy a free media. People tend to take that for granted.

The BBC isn't free and unbiased it's an echo chamber for the Tory Party. It's not as bad as The Mail, The Sun or The Telegraph but that's not much of an achievement.

More importantly how did he win best newbie in 2021?

I’m assuming it was a dry year on the Caf.

It is unbiased. People on the left tend to think it's biased towards the Tories, people on the right tend to think it's just as biased towards the Labour party. That in itself shows the impartiality of the network, and believe me I am no defender of the BBC.

You sound like your enjoying your day off.
Well, they've decimated the TV schedule but I still have fun things to do, so yeah am making the most of the day off. Will all be over soon, thank feck.

Sorry mate, but what a selfish cnut.

"It's not fair, I can't go to the gym :("

First World problems, pathetic.

Millions of people want to get involved, but they should cancel the whole thing so you can go to the gym?

I'm not going to say what I think of you, because I don't think it's worth getting banned over someone so worthless.

No news outlet is unbiased, it's impossible to achieve that. The BBC remains the most used news source in the world and one of the most trusted, however.

it's inspiring because if you're a child in that crowd you must think, "one day i can be the monarch". a role model who embodied meritocracy.

Nah not just him, it would have been easier for me too. Had to rearrange my whole day around that. Furious.

You're right of course, but it's as close to being unbiased as any news network gets in my view. They cover both sides politically in a much more impartial manner than the other networks available. Obviously reporters always have a degree of bias which comes across but they employ well from both sides of the argument.

Why are you arsed though Paul? I don’t follow. Does it offend you if people want to watch it or wish to pay their respects?

Exactly - I'm allergic to stupidity and nonsense. If people want to pay their respects to the Queen -- no problem at all. If they want to queue up for hours on end to look at a coffin, no problem, seems stupid but that's their choice.

To suggest that people outside of the UK and a few commonwealth countries are as obsessed with what's going on is ridiculous.

Oh I was worried there for a sec. I thought you were going to type something hurtful over the internet.

aren't you defending it?
Regarding its impartiality, yes, I think they are about as good as it gets. As an organisation, I'm not a fan and wouldn't miss it if it disappeared. I try to be fair regardless of my personal opinion.

Totally wrong.
I have listened to many of those individuals who you have described as flag shaggers who decided to wait for countless hours to walk past the coffin.
And they have all in their own words articulated their personal reasons for why they chose to travel from not only across the UK, but from across the world to be part of the Queen's state funeral.
