What have they been doing the last 20 years?
They have had a change of focus over the last 4 or 5 years which has saw them buying a load of new studios most of whom are well known for single player games. Uncle Phil has seen the light and it's turning gaming into the next Netflix with a quality inhouse game every quarter and dozens of smaller games and third party bangers to pad out the service.

Xbox is the gaming arm of Microsoft. When I load up the app on my pc to play gamepass games the logo says Xbox. The same will be true for tablets, smart phones and the steam deck if it runs there. My monthly subscription goes to Xbox.

That's cool, Bill.

@XCaf: Happy to see money go to MS/XBox any possible way be that Console sales, streaming or gamepass, because of undisclosed reasons (most likely fanboyism)...

...also @XCaf: No longer buys games, complains about the cost of them, pays $1 a month for 3 years subs....

List of Great games exclusive to Xbox

Just keep on believing that PlayStation didn't buy that porting studio to port over all their games to pc as well. They have saw the money that Xbox are making from having their games available on pc and want their own piece of the pie.

Sony will, but it won’t be day one. It’ll be 12-24 months after initial release. No issue.

It's proper weird.

So in less hostile news, what are you guys planning on playing this weekend?

I'm getting quite far in Skyward Sword and might boot up Hades for a spin. Of course, I'll be raking in MLB The Show 2k21.

Rachet, Returnal, Hades... I really need to get back to Death Stranding too. Tbh my backlog is a lot, just about to try Dead Cells...

Going to try out Humankind on Game Pass and Spiderman as I never played that on PS4.

You not waiting on the Directors Cut?

I never finished on PS4 so can't can't for the upgrade.

I've been playing MGSV this week to get my fix of Kojima.

I might see what this Hades is saying. Doesn't look like my kind of thing but with everyone raving about it, maybe I'll like it. The beauty of Game Pass.

Good point, if it's like 10 quid to upgrade then I'll bite.

I think I'm going to stick a few hours into Humankind. It's new on gamepass so it's worth a punt.

It's worth noting that Xbox is just a drop in the water for Microsoft financially, their yearly profits are far, far beyond Sony's, who are very reliant on the Playstation to make them money. It means Microsoft can afford to sell less units in order to get their SaaS product out to as many users as possible whereas Sony need to charge for games and expansions and whatnot. Historically that has meant Sony have poured a lot more resources into making the Playstation successful than Microsoft have into the Xbox but that's obviously changed now and Microsoft could literally lose tens of millions on gamepass every year getting it out to as many users as possible and it wouldn't put a dent in their bank account. Microsoft just want as many people on their ecosystem as is possible and in recent years have seen gaming as a great way to do it.

Halo Infinite to ship WITHOUT co-op campaign or forge....

Ouch. 3.5 million in a month and no royalty payments to the developer.

I'm surprised that the developer doesn't know from Square Enix what would be required to make it profitable on Game Pass - surely that should be open information to the CEO of the developer?

I think if 343 wants to continue to develop one of Xbox's flagship franchises they need to up their game. After a 12 month delay the game should be complete even in the middle of Covid hell. I agree wit @Alock1 Forge as a free addon is acceptable but COOP is a staple of Halo. After a 12 month delay is has to be there.

Lololol. How’s halo?
What's there is supposed to be good according to the people who took part in the flight. The problem is that it's not all there.
My take on it is if they haven't even got COOP into the game how much polish have they applied? Personally I'd always rather wait for the game to shine before releasing it even if that meant giving it another 6-12 months to get all those bells and whistles at just the right key then so be it. I know it will be a bad look if they push it again but look at what happened to CDPR's credibility after not pushing Cyberpunk enough to stop it being a broken mess.
I have no problem with PlayStation pushing GoW and HFW back for as long as it takes to get them right. Covid has seriously messed with how these studios create games. Patience is one of the most underrated virtues.
