I hate 343. I love the halo universe and the bungie games are incredible. 343 did fine with MCC but lost some of the original charm, although the fluid nature is well done. Still, it doesn't surprise me they are fecking up the launch of this game. Focusing on multiplayer is one thing, and the gameplay looks solid, but campaign is the heart and soul, and for this iteration meant to be the main selling point!

That crowbcat video comparing bungie and 343 still rings true.

Like what? Because I'm not sure what's going on there, or what to make of it...
IIRC the game was released as a bit of a mess at launch. I believe server issues on Square's end being the main one. This meant that initial uptake on all platforms didn't turn into long term customers. The great thing about Gamepass is that you can try games and if they turn out to be a lemon you can uninstall them and move on to something else without shelving out £60 for the game to only find out it's not for you.
It seems though that whenever a lemon turns out to be a lemon it's Gamepass' fault even when it's multiplat. Hay ho.

It's well beyond the scope of this thread to go too deep and any discussion will get shut down by fanboy nonsense, like above, if they deem their precious gamepass is being attacked. Which is actually not the case with that tweet, at least not in the way the usual will automatically think anyway.

But I will say it's a lot like how MS handle the teams they buy, there's a lot of clauses and promises and a lot of misunderstanding and failures. The Gamepass isn't the problem, it's more how new the whole thing is to the industry and how it HAS to evolve as it can't stay this way for long.

And contrary to the belief of some, it's not about MS and their deep pockets at all. They, like all other businesses, will be (and are which is one of the issues here) clawing back from other areas. As I said, more will come out from both sides (devs/MS) over time and it'll hopefully lead to a more standardised practice. Though at what cost to the consumer will be the question. It's all well and good paying a tenner a month (or a quid of course) for ok to occasional decent games now, but if the quality is to improve and the developers/publishers are happy with the cut, then that cannot and will not last. Then we shall see what people are happy with, as let's face it if you aren't buying games and relying on the GP then you won't have much choice but to pay what is required.

I get ya. Makes sense now ;)

A different take but okay. Lets see how it pans out....

We will see if Gamepass works or not time will tell. Will the service evolve over time? Of course it will and when it evolves it's up to each subscriber to decide if they want to keep up their subscription. The thing is that a multiplatform game that didn't keep up engagement on any platform is not the game to choose to make point either for or against Gamepass. To then call the person to make that point a fanboy while saying that you want a deep discussion is laughable.

The fact you think it's about a single game and about if the gamepass works or not shows you don't understand that tweet/article or my points, nor do you want to. You did exactly what you will always do and leap to the GP defence, even though it wasn't being attacked only in your mind. So it's not worth more discussion with you about this.

Weird take with so little context. They haven't received payment despite PS sales either, so weird that it's seen as an indictment on gamepass. Who knows how that specific deal worked, sometimes it's a big lump of cash, other times it's performance based.

What I would say is the game had no DLC and no microtransactions. So getting all those players in doesn't do a great deal unless Xbox were paying Square based on downloads/time spent/engagement etc. in which case you'd think that'd be more than they would have got it not on gamepass anyway.

What take, and what indictment. Can you be more specific?

Yup, but it's not about that for others. Many are facing the same issue.

In any case I agree that for engagement purposes there needs to be something else involved, which all ties in to how the GP will evolve. If we were to go deeper on it, we could spitball about how devs might make use of that, for example could it mean more microtransactions? Games/released sold in parts more? There's a lot of questions that a GP type system raises, and that's the point I'm obviously making, that it's not about the GP itself. Another tangent is the types of deals/contracts, another is publisher to developer relationships. There's a lot to unpack, a lot to think through and they have to work through as the system matures.

People need to stop thinking it's all about the single game and cheap pass. There's a lot going on underneath.

Exactly. If it evolves and ends up shit or too expensive, then we'll stop paying for it. Right now, it's brilliant.
This is how literally everything works. No point throwing ifs and buts around relating to years down the line.

It’s brilliant because they’re screwing developers.

Absolutely nobody said any different.

I was asked a question and I answered it. Problem with that? If you guys don't want to see past the end of your noses, that's fine, but no need to dismiss what others are talking about.

He's expressed that opinion in the past too. He likely owns a sweatshop given his lack of empathy towards anything other than his pocket.
Maybe if they stopped releasing half finished games I’d have some sympathy

You think that's on the devs?

Actually, don't bother trying to answer that.
You do realise the ‘developer’ can mean the entire company right? Because that’s what they are. That includes those making the decisions. You should know this. When people say developer they don’t necessarily mean the boots on the ground. In fact most of the time they don’t. They’re obviously not the ones making no profits are they?

This is why I said don't answer that. It's so easy for you to move the goalposts when it's clear you don't understand the structure, and then you dig. But hey, don't worry, I know you didn't really mean the poor little menial workers who actually suffer. You meant the suits in charge, the investors/publishers and the likes. Because they are the ones hit, just like at CDPR (which is the kind of set up you actually are talking about, yet still misunderstand), because it was the bad men that released it early and only they suffered. Right?

I'm still waiting an answer on what exactly I've "constantly raised" though.

Actually, again, don't bother trying to answer that.

You appear to so far up your own arse you can’t work out what’s going on. But that’s expected at this point.

The fact you’re replying like an absolute tit to something that obviously wasn’t serious shows this.

Once again, because you can't answer it's now this tripe again.

You came in here running your mouth as per, don't be upset that as usual you find out quickly you should stay in your lane. I mean I don't question you on sweatshop management do I?

 like I said, too far up your own arse to realise everyone else is taking the rip. The fact you latched on to some random silly comment shows this.

Oh dear. This thread can be a laugh til the fun sponges arrive

Again, just because you misunderstood as per usual, this is the level you resort to. It's not my fault this happens every time you get involved. We were in a discussion, you piped up and now get all emo when you are swatted away.

Try to lighten up and go with your own words. You might have more fun when you aren't so easily triggered.

I tell you what, why not play some Hades? You finally can after the rest of the world are done with it, and then inexplicably boast about it

We weren’t in a discussion. You tried to belittle your way in to winning a non existent argument then questioned why I wasn’t answering, when it’s clear no one can be arsed engaging your oddly placed ego surrounding videogames.

I come in to wind up elvis and afro. I don’t have the time nor inclination for this bollocks

If you think that’s an admission of defeat then indulge in it, by all means, but that also means you think I was serious when I said ‘good’, so it’s also admitting a few others things.

That's why you made that weird comment about my "cronies".

You just don't like it when you pipe up and then can't answer anything. That's not my "ego", I asked you what you meant about a couple of your comments and you couldn't answer. Now you've taken it all serious when I was fecking about with sweatshops and that then have the cheek to tell me I'm too serious

I would once again tell you that you are out of your depth, but as usual you will forget this is the thread for dumb arguing and get all annoyed and make flippant comments you can't back up.

All the while you could be playing (and then not playing after 5 mins, but hey at least you can try right?) one of the many mediocre games you lot suddenly think are goats because they are on your beloved GP

“Out of your depth” get a grip man, you’re embarrassing yourself
