PS3 suffering from global network lockdown

This is great. I've been on Uncharted 2 for the last couple of hours and was able to unlock Crushing on co-op. I've been trying to do this for weeks but getting nowhere but I was able to blitz The village and Napal on hard first time.

For some strange reason the standard of player seems to be much improve, I get an accurate match up far quicker and it just seems generally much faster. It's like the server has been unclogged.

Please don't fix it Sony.

feck sake, I turned it on this morning to see if it was fixed. I guess I've lost all my data. Well not all of it, but all the data that I could possibly lose. :(

I think it's just things such as any downloadable content under DRM and unsynchronized trophies that go up in the air. If anything such as a game you downloaded off PSN goes pop, I suppose that you could simply re-download it, just as you could if you deleted it. Things like movies are fecked.

I haven't turned my PS3 on since all this started, won't either til it's fixed.

I've had my ps3 on all day, don't care.. was about to format it either way.

This is quite annoying as I use my PS3 as my DVD player but PSN is on automatic sign in, which means I can't even turn it on to watch a fecking DVD.

It's only one day ffs, the way some people are going on it's like the world has ended.

But it's the Apocalyps3, Sol!

patience lads from 12 bells on we should all be able to play our lil hearts out "if" the internal clock resets itself, im waiting for then. lots of reports of taking out the internal battery then resetting the clock fixing the problem.

At midnight the clock should reset itself albeit a day behind but it should then sync with PSN's servers...

weaste am i right in saying that it should sync from PSN's servers?

Please note that I am now out of the office until 10AM tomorrow morning.

I'm concerned that some of you are considering removing the internal battery from your PlayStation 3 system. Please do not do this -you risk damaging your console and voiding your warranty, both of which really are not worth it for the sake of a few hours.

Our previous advice still stands: We hope to have the problem solved within 24 hours (about 21 now, if you've been counting :smileytongue:) and you should avoid using your console until then.

I have given my phone number out to everyone who will be "in the know" about further updates on this issue. Our teams across SCE are working flat-out to fix the problem for you. Should anything come through, either myself or one of the moderators on shift tonight will post the update for you.

I'll also be jumping on and checking PSN tonight from midnight with my own console, just in case :smileywink: I'll let you know the results.

As an aside - thank you all for your patience today. I appreciate that it has been frustrating and I am thankful to all of you for keeping the forum tidy and insult free!

As long as there is not an invalid date, it should work. It will not go to 30th Feb, the problem is whatever is in the chip running the real time clock thinks that it's a leap year when it isn't. The actual time in the internal clock isn't important, as long as it provides a valid date to the OS.

My mate's slim won't sign into the PSN now. :nervous:

Hmmmmm...so should I just turn off my router and uncheck auto-connect? I don't know that it'll be affected, but now I'm worried.

This is brilliant, they set the system clocks for the slims a day behind, so now slim owners have to stop for a day.

Ho ho ho! Probably not!
So I have to keep off it from midnight for a day? If I lose my Demon's Souls saves I'll puke.

Edit ASSHOLE.

This is somewhat farsical, I'm sure there are a few people in the state of Washington having a chuckle right now.

feck sake weaste i just texted my mate telling him not to play his ps3 for a couple of days.

should i text him and tell him it doesnt matter? nah

I don't know that they can considering the failure rates of the 360 is over 50% while the PS3 is at 10%. PSN is also free, which makes problems more tolerable imo.
