Protests following the killing of George Floyd

Its not all of them though as evidence by the videos of some forces joining in with the protestors in some format in some cities.

Its worth pointing that out as well.
It's a fecking travesty that we've got to the point where we have to make a note of where and when the police are behaving themselves.

I think some people don't realise in a large scale riot situation that the world still turns and other things carry on. If you close down cities and block off the roads you'll get left with something out of The Purge.

At what point does this terrible situation de-escalate as at the moment it keeps getting ramped up past breaking point.

This is a complete straw man of an argument. The overwhelming likelihood is that those two police cars are in place for crowd management and unless you have a shred of evidence suggesting they were on route to some other emergency, you are simply defending the indefensible.

Don't tell me to feck off then try and engage with me. Either you want to talk about it or you don't.
I'm pointing out how daft you are being.

Clearly playing devils advocate was absolute horseshit and you just couldn't stand for your own opinions.

Awful. Sickening video. fecking lunatics. Especially those who kicked the guy while he was on the ground.
At the end of all this those who wanted to change something with peaceful protests will end hurt or in jail and savages like this will be unpunished

This is the problem with social media and videos though isn't it. You don't get the full picture and that's my point to a degree. I don't have any idea although I would guess you don't send two cruisers to manage a crowd of people as it's in practical and this is the likely outcome. In any sense you can't, as I've said, justify driving through at that speed.

Trying to drive straight through a roadblock and bulk of people... to get to an emergency.. I can see your point now.. when you think about it they are true heroes and it's the fault of the people who designed a city with only one road.

Normal people don’t walk down residential streets in full military gear and fire their weapons at people stood on their porch, but the American police do.

Personally I tend not to try and explain away the actions of groups who do things like that. Or drive their cars at people.

Whenever I see questionable posts such as this I make it a habit to search certain words by the poster in the search bar just to see if they are having a mare in one thread or if their viewpoint is consistent. Anyway from what I found all I’m going to say is much like atze this is another guy not worth debating with on racial issues.

Striker is less a racist like Atze and more of an outright maniac. Like he is properly insane. He’s a Redcafe gem in my opinion.

What are you on about?

You've totally swerved what I said again I see. Good job.

Yup. While we should keep in mind that it's still the minority that is behaving poorly, that minority is way too big to be ignored and the riots are exposing it even more.

It's also the problem with people looking at a video, and then inventing a scenario that best suits their angle, regardless of the evidence they see before them.

When you see hoof prints, don't look for zebras.

You're being unfair. It's obvious that those good officers were simply marching down that residential street to rescue a kitten from a burning building but that lady with her camera phone was impeding their efforts.

I'll have that and I don't disagree but surely you can't just shoot people down for daring to offer another angle or opinion. Isn't that what a forum is for? I've seen people here trying to justify the guy with the sword getting beaten to a pulp by an angry mob earlier. That seems okay though.

What's my own opinions? I think I've been pretty clear and consistent in what they are.
Let us remove the premise of you playing devils advocate since that was obviously just tacked on in hopes of getting less backlash.
Where were the patrol cars going? Clearly to a 911 call so an emergency.

Why were people stopping them getting through and trying to smash the car up?

Should they just stay stationary and allow the car to be flipped or set alight?

Granted the first vehicle pulled forward too quickly for my liking and it might have been possible to try and reverse out of the roadblock.
Your opinion seems to be that the police were going a little too quickly but driving into people were fine if they couldn't reverse out of the situation.
The 911 emergency claim is as much of an assumption as someone stating that they were there to control the masses.

If posts like that make you a gem here, then mods go ahead and delete my account now ta.

Again what's the point in this? I've seen that video just now and it's horrendous.

This is the classic police defense for when their atrocities are captured on film though. “We don’t know the full picture!”

Actually yeah I don’t think he’s as out and out racist as Atze think he’s just some weird conspiracist

What in the world? That guy had a sword???! Why?

I asked what would you do. So you're blocked in by people who are attacking your car. Do you just turn the engine off and let them carry on and at worst case scenario kill you? With regards to where they were going I don't know. I was simply speculating it was a 911 call given they had their sirens on.

I didn’t know ‘devils advocate’ was a euphemism for getting on your knees and licking the boots of your racist friends in the US but looks like I’ve learnt something new

What in the world? That guy had a sword???! Why?

There's a longer video showing the same guy, charging around the street swinging the sword around at people.

Obviously you feel for the guy, he was trying to defend his business and nobody deserves to be kicked to pieces by a crowd of people. But if ever there was a candidate for the Darwin Awards, it's the fella who brought a sword to a mob fight.

Racist friends? How dare you. You have absolutely no right to insult me like that when you know nothing about me. I've commented on a video where a police vehicle has driven at protesters. Why does that make me racist?

Feckin' 'ell. There was that dude with a bow and arrow shooting at a crowd too wasn't there?

If I were in that situation I certainly wouldn't run people over. I have more respect for human life than that.

I could speculate that I would:
1. Turn off the engine (if they couldn't hear me over it) and communicate that I need to get going if there is a emergency, inform them that the people who could be calling could be their family or their friends and that I support the protest while hoping that as few lives would be negatively affected as possible and that was the reason I was on the job that night. Not because I wanted to hurt people.

2. If they refused to listen then I would keep the engine shut down and not drive over them. I'd continue to try to talk to them. I would also report in to my seniors that I wouldn't be able to move and to send someone else.

You've totally swerved what I said again I see. Good job.

Dude you’re trying to play down police officers driving through a crowd of people.

Even if we accept your entirely hypothetical scenario that they were responding to a call, that’s 100% unacceptable. Not even the American police training manuals will tell officers to run people over if they need to get where they’re going ffs.

What was my response? That's is okay? Not sure it was if you read.

I'm going to play devils advocate here..

What I read is they had to get an emergency (must have been hell of an emergency to risk so many injuries/deaths), it's technically wrong to try to run over through 40 people so quickly, but what what could they do?

I mean really:

We all see there was only one way out for these brave officers who had their life threatened by these aggressive protesters encroaching on them. Can we give them a medal for bravery please?

Can't believe this. Absolute madness. Why are the national guard even marching through that neighborhood and why are they firing at people in their homes? The country is out of control. Not sure how this end tbh.

The police genuinely don’t give a feck about people. They’re supposed to serve the community but they just see anyone not in uniform as an enemy.

This as come from orders at the top. Trump wants the police to act this way. He said as much on one of his rallies.
