Protest planned before Norwich game

This isn’t a principled campaign against the ownership . It’s fans arranging a protest because at the time it was widely considered we’d lost realistic hope of qualifying for the Champions League. They’re protesting poor form. That’s it.

Three months ago the 16 year, 9 month and 19 day anniversary of the takeover wasn’t earmarked as a red letter day ideal for a protest. Stop treating fans like fecking idiots and wondering why you get minimal support

Well I guess that showed em?

Meanwhile, United’s mentions are up on the socials, trending in most countries, pot noodle sponsors very happy, considering another 3 year contract.

Hold on. They are now entering the stadium at 1-0 to watch the rest of the game and cheer the team?

Have you not heard the constant anti Glazer chants? But yeah, please continue to laugh at the people who care about the club and have been spending money their whole life to watch them.

I think it’s fine to question the protest, the timing of it, the reasoning for it, the idealistic outcome etc.. But I find it strange to be against the protest and actively revel in a ‘failed protest’ and laughing at people who have given their time and effort to try and make the club we all (supposedly) love, better.

Constant? No. I’ve heard a few chants in between a full stadium supporting the team and cheering the 2 goals.

I care about the club and have spent money watching them also, so not sure what irrelevant point you are trying to make there.

You’ve never been to Old Trafford

Yeah, well strangely they support the team and want them to win.

In that case, I’m not really sure how you’re struggling to understand fan culture but here we are.

This forum is a bizarre place. Apparently the match fans should boo more and be hostile when things are going well. Then they protest and get accused of only doing it because the team isn’t doing well

I don't find the whole thing hilarious at all, just a bit..... strange. I don't get what it's for exactly. What the message is.

Is it a 'you've not given us what you've promised us last year' thing, or just a generic 'Glazers out blah blah blah' one? Feels like if we're going to protest, then at least make sure we're all singing from the same hymn sheet.

Couldnt say i noticed a difference, normal numbers at seats at ko.

Unfortunately theyre going nowhere, the process in getting plans for the stadium redevelopment is going to take a couple of years at least, then there's the inflation in material prices to take into consideration, then the planning process.

Not even to mention that United are their cash cow and until either the money runs dry, or someone offers them an acceptable amount, they're going nowhere.

That’s because the fans are spread out. Even a thousand fans is 1/75th of the stadium.

Unfortunately if this was a game somewhere in Europe you would see big empty sections of a stadium, which is much easier to organise with ultras.

I love the idea that they think the Glazers will be in some mansion somewhere thinking, hang on...so these fans missed 3mins of a game they'd paid for?!
We better shape up!

With protestors outside: winning 1-0.

With protestors inside: losing 1-2.

Because the reports is we are closing in on Ten Hag. These protests seem like it’s against that appointment, does it not?

Comes off to me like they are unhappy about Ten Hag which is an idiotic thing to show the glazers. If it’s the poor form I’ve no idea how the hell that’s the glazers fault. A lot of people wanted Ralf as interim
What the feck are you talking about.

he or she is saying they didn’t protest in the tunnel then leave the game, protesting outside. They still go inside and watch so they didn’t forfit the money of their ticket.

But they’ve paid for it, so what does that have to do with not being able to afford it. Also, forfeiting a 4 billion asset, like they are going to give it away and not sell it for 4 billion if they leave

They said afford to waste. As in afford to buy and not watch the game. Not about being able to buy the ticket itself.

The word afford makes no sense in whatever weird point the poster was trying to make.

............

Strangely, they were holding banners and placards calling for Woodward to go ???????
Errrr Hello !!!

Protest was effective, in that I couldn't access my seat until 3:15pm or so due to both sides of the Munich tunnel being blocked.

Don't get why the internet supporters are mocking the protest, there was real anger in OT today. At the club, the management, the players - glad we're starting to hold people accountable.

As a Blackpool fan I am incredibly happy whenever shitty owners are removed from a club and replaced by better owners. All the better if it happens as a result of grass roots movement in the local community.

United however will never get popular support throughout the football community amongst other fans, journalists and celebrities. Simply because there is no moral element to the campaign. To anyone outside Uniteds fanbase the protesters are just glory hunters whinging because they don't win anymore.

We are holding them accountable by continuing to pay for the seats to watch games??
The Glazers have their cash, why should a few flares, and a bit of short term chanting mean anything to them??

What is the plan tomorrow?? Anything??

How about at Anfield?? Or Wednesday?? Or Thursday?? Or Friday?? Nothing planned??

Thought as much, today was meaningless, simple really.

It was just a small group of people overestimating their importance hugely.

Sums it up if people were chanting about Ed.

Just a drunken mob, with nothing better to do.
An embarrassing mess around really.

Today shouldn't have happened.

What's your suggestion to instigate change then? Got a plan? Or should the glazers stay?

Were you at the game?

The Glazers staying is entirely up to them, they hold all of the power at the club, and as such they get to decide when or even if they leave.

The best way to instigate change is to join a group that is trying to talk to them rationally and calmly, but even then, we have ti face the facts, that we as fans are not important to them, and as such, they don't have to change anything if they don't want to, no matter how politely we ask.

Having drunken people chanting and letting off flares for what a couple of hours, thinking or believing their own self importance, won't bring about any changes.

What is the plan for today, as the online megastore is still online, and after yesterday, I bet a fair few Ronaldo shirts have been bought from across the globe, thus putting more money into the pockets of the Glazers, thus making them care even less about a few people chanting irrelevant chants.

Obviously I understand why people are protesting and stuff but why now? The owners have already put plans to redevelop the stadium, that isn’t going to happen overnight is it. Feels like the protest are coming because we’ve been doing awful and losing to Everton was the final straw. If that’s the case then the players neee to be protested against a lot more right now. Don’t get me wrong I hate the owners and wish they’d sell up but there trying to make amends… they signed us the players we wanted in the summer, there hiring the manager we all wanted. Putting plans together to redevelop the stadium and training ground. Can’t just protest when things are going bad on the pitch, it gives our fan base a bad name. If we won a trophy this season or was 2nd in the league I guarantee these protest wouldn’t be happening. If ETH comes in next season and we get of to a flying start and challenge for things then there will be no protest will they. The players winning matches and playing well keeps everyone quiet for the time being, the minute we’re doing awful everyone wants to protest. Feels like people only want the glazers out when we’re losing..: the protest need to happen wether we’re winning or losing to show you still feel the same about them!

Yup to all of this.

Plus the protests have to have a realistic end goal.

So if people want the Glazers Out, just who do they want instead of them??

You can't just chant "Glazers Out!!" without having a single idea of who could replace them, that is lazy and idiotic, pure and simple.

This highlights the problem. The big split in the fanbase.

Come on, support the people who try to make a real change. It's not done within a week or two, it will be a long hard fight.
Well done to everyone involved yesterday.
