Pro Evolution Soccer 2011

Unfortunately a lot of the difficulty comes from them introducing unrealistic elements into the game like superhuman strength/pace and the computer 'helping' you by taking control of your players at odd times and booting the ball away.

Yeah, the computer just took control of Fletcher and tackled Evra scoring an own goal in the process

Luckily Rio popped up with a late header

I've not had many problems with stuff like that. The only time the computer seems to get involved is by hacking the ball away or something.

One thing that definitely makes the game better is changing the player selection to manual rather than assisted. The assisted player changing is pure dog shit.

Stupid question maybe, but where do you change this?

From the top menu > Exhibiton > Select Sides > Press X or Square depending which console > Change Cursor "Un-Assisted"

And that then works throughout all game modes?

I just won the D2 league and didn't get no celebration cut scene! Pffft.

anyone notice how you tap the button and the shot, alot of the times go to row Z Bobby Zamora style:lol:

Yup. A lot of it is down to timing though. It doesn't happen to me very often anymore.

It happened to me loads as I had Ngog upfront. He played like 50 games and got 15 goals for me. Now I have Pato and he's scored nearly 10 in the first 6 games.

Yeh the quality of the player helps too, but my top scorer last season was only rated in the mid 60s. It's mainly timing.

Just beat spurs 2-1.

They scored in the first 10 mins and it stayed like that till the 80th minute when Hernandez popped up with a header at the near post from a Nani cross, then in the 88th minute Scholes scored a low drilled shot in the bottom left corner from the edge of the box.

Now off to the pub for the real thing :)

I've been playing Spurs as well, see if I can't build up some good karma before the match. Feckers can't score against me though. Almost everytime they attack they end up just passing it to Defoe, who almost always fires in a hopeless screamer from 40 yards out which flies 50 yards over the bar. Going to have to play around with his stats I think

So I got promoted to the Premier League in my Master League game, my first match was against Stoke. I got on the attack and take a shot when I notice "Lewis-Hamilton" scrambling across the Stoke goal mouth to make the save!

What the feck?!

i am impressed so far i must say! not starting ML until the option file is out though, i hope its tonight!

aye i have been following that thread on the other site:D

well impressed with that option file, he has done a good job on the 16 stadiums too!

okay so started my master league last night, so far i am pretty impressed with this game, in fact the only real gripe i have at the moment is that the movements when compared with fifa are still not up to par, they are better than previous years but still need some work.

visually it looks fantastic, players look great, stadiums look good and as always CL mode is finely polished. editing mode as always is fantastic on pes and imo beats fifa hands down in that department. commentators suck but that is always the case with these games and i just turn them off after the first few matches.

the menus and UI look so much better this year, thank god it looks like some good effort went into them in comparison to the last few years and they are actually appealing to the eye this year. gameplay is good and it lives up to the "engineered for freedom" tag

i like this game, and its the first time i have said that about pro evo in a few years, used to love pro evo over fifa and i have been disappointed every year since we went to next gen but at last we have a pro evo game i am pleased with

I'd more or less agree with that. Bought this game for £24.99 from Game last Thursday, was planning on leaving it later but thought that price was good enough. I've never been drawn to either FIFA or Pro Evo more than the other, just play what I prefer. Had a preference for FIFA until last year when I got bored of it and actually enjoyed playing PES 2010 more. This year I bought FIFA 11 on release, initially enjoyed it but now have got kind of tired of it again.

Played PES 2011 quite a few times now and I do agree that there does seem to be more freedom. The player likeness etc is fantastic and streets ahead of FIFA as are all the edit functions. I do have a few gripes though with the animations but nothing huge. The shooting seems very erratic so far, maybe I just have to get used to it but quite often I've not put much power on shots and they've just seemed to almost rocket into the stands - could be a case of timing and balance. Some of the ball physics are still questionable also, unpredictable at times.

However, PES always seems to offer glimpses of absolute magic in matches where other frustations with the game are set aside and it does make for more of a rewarding experience. Not completely sure what I think of this game so far, at it's best it is very enjoyable though and I have had some great games already against the CPU.

Is that the WENB Option File? Is that the best one around for PS3? May just download it now, want to start a Master League pretty soon.

yeah its the WENB one, released last night and it is top notch stuff

Loving the Master League., even though not doing the best. Out of FA Cup in 2nd round. £rd in Champions League goup with 2 games to go. 10 points behind liverpool i think.

Erm.... is this normal or something??

I was going to let him figure that out for himself.

Just played United. Their centre back pairing: Wes Brown and Jamie Carragher ....

The transfers are just plain broken in this game. In BAL every top goalkeeper moves club in the first winter window.

Chicharito is very poor for me in the game though. Can't stay on the ball at all. End up playing only give and go's with him. Half a season into ML, not even one goal scored yet with him.
