Premier League Matchweek 34 April 16 - 21

This game isn't indicative of how we will play next season. As has been mentioned, we have nothing to play for and nobody gives a shit right now. We are basically just throwing out players and twiddling our thumbs until the season ends and Conte comes in.

Did I just read this correct - Falcao in goal!?!?

Yes. They chose to bring on Falcao instead of Begovic. Might be considered eccentric by classical fans, but modern keepers need to be good with their feet. Which still begs the question why they brought Falcao on. He did fall over well trying to save the penalty.

John O'Shea, the greatest of them all.

False...

Well, according to BBC they did.

Chelsea are absolutely shite and Courtois is a poor mans Ruddy.

Not surprised at Chelsea's performance. Reckon half the squad more concerned with their futures. Wish I could pick up their pay cheques to be half arsed:rolleyes:

3 points behind Arsenal. Do us a favour tomorrow Palace, it'd be hilarious :D

Arsenal have a more favourable fixture set then City and City also have CL to deal with. Can't catch 4th specialists Arsenal.

Meh, when you want Chelsea to spot you a favour, they go do that. Too late for Top 4 I reckon.

It'd be pretty stupid of them to phone it in if they're after a move somewhere better.

Have you seen Hazard all season? We can infer that he's been assessing his options, not stopped him from putting in zero effort.

I don't think Chelski will finish in the top 4 next season .... to many ageing players and too many who'll want out this summer.
Bookies have them 2nd or 3rd favourites for the title next year at the moment but they're probably in a worse state than us. Will be an interesting summer.

What happened to Fabregas? Used to be my dream signing.

He walks about like he owns the joint when not in possession absolutely delighted we didn't sign him. I wanted him but he's a big problem in the team. Yep he's great on the ball but in today's game that's not enough.

There's no logic to Chelsea's demise because they had the same manager as last season (and he's supposed to be the best in the world), and apart from Terry no one is too old in the team.

A bust up early in the season and a piss poor transfer window.

Didn't their pre-season get messed up ? Also, Mourinho was so confident his squad would be at the top of their game. So he never really brought in players to give them competition.

A bust up yeah, but as I said, the team had a good age, only Terry could be considered old or too old, so they shouldn't be doing this bad despite a poor transfer window. They're on the way to become the first reigning champions to finish outside the top 10 since Leeds in 92/93.

De Bruyne will secure fourth. I want Mourinho, but De Bruyne leaving was worryingly stupid.
When you stay in the game for longer than ten seasons you are bound to have a brainfart or two with a player and that player/s will make you look stupid through their performances. Its the nature of the beast but for the majority of us we don't work in the public sphere where such mistakes can be scrutinized by millions.

Chelsea's future is a lot duller because of Mourinho. No De Bruyne, no Lukaku, no Filipe Luís (more of a short term issue). Even players like Mata, Cuadrado and Salah would be upgrades on the crap Mourinho kept like Oscar and everyone's-favourite-winger-who-is-actually-crap-in-open-play Willian.

Thing is though, he won the league last year with kinda the same squad of players as now.

Yeah, because as always he focused on the short term with no thought of what the long term cost was.

What was the long term cost though? He added Pedro to the squad. Sure, they should have added another 2 players maybe to keep the squad fresh but this squad should be clearly good enough to compete for top 4 on paper. It's not like you can fully predict in beforehand that this was going to be a shit season for them. We can criticise Mourinho for his mismanagement this season but he did won the league last year even though he got rid of guys like De Bruyne, Mata and Lukaku.

Are you serious? The long term cost is painfully obvious - he's cost Chelsea two players who are young enough and good enough to be key players there for another decade. All scrapped for one season of (moderate) success. A manager who focuses on the short term so much that he neglects the long term has no right to say he's deserving of a top club. They shouldn't be run that way.

Adding Pedro to the squad is a negative, he coasted by for years at Barcelona and isn't good enough to be more than a squad player at Chelsea with no real room for improvement.

All good points, but what if he simply couldn't offer them enough minutes for them to stay? What were their demands? First team starters?
