Premier League matchweek 2 (august 19th-21th)

Spurs got tactically outmanouvered by Chelsea...winning goal was down the right side of Spurs, wonder if Kyle Walker would have had a say in defending that. Terrible loss of possession and such a soft, soft goal to concede.

Joe Hart received some criticism last week for conceding Martial's goal so one should suspect Lloris to receive a massive bollocking....but that isn't usually the case now is it.
He's had plenty of stick from Henry and Sourness tbf.

Fair to say Batshuayi is not quite up there with Dorgba or Costa in terms for defending free kicks.
Big mistake not getting Costa back on side.I'm sure a good man manager would have been able to deal with him far better

Morata looks abit clumsy playing that role, certainly not as good as Costa holding the ball up. Difficult game to judge though. It's a great win for Chelsea in a tough fixture, but I thought Spurs were the better side and was pleased to see them drop points in that first home game.

I'm already bored of Matic being brought up every time Bakayoko is mentioned.

What do you think of his performance? I thought it was just about acceptable. Clearly struggling with the pace of the league especially towards the end but looks a willing worker.

Your midfield is bereft of creativity though, if Fabregas doesn't get back a semblance of his attacking game you'll struggle mightily.

Serious question, what are his strengths? Had a chance to run with the ball and didn't seem to have a lot of pace. Later he got shoved off the ball easily. What does he offer?

I thought he was decent. Henry and Souness are bigging him up on Sky but I'd give him a 6/10.

AS for our lack of creativity, I think Baka will offer a fair bit once he's settled but obviously there's a Eden Hazard sized hole in team at the moment.

David Luiz usually looks solid in midfield. I remember Mourinho used a Matic-David Luiz midfield sometimes in 13/14 and they were very solid. The guy can only defend well in a 3 CB format or when he's in front of the defense. Put him in a 2 CB formation as one of the CB's and he leaks goals left and right.

Is it that or a mental focus thing? I think sometimes he gets frustrated and completely checks out of the game. Once something doesn't go his way, he becomes erratic.

Two footed fox in the box. As we saw today he's a real danger in the penalty area.

I think him and Morata would both benefit from playing with each other but I can't see that happening, Michy will go out on loan and will be replaced in the squad by someone who can hold the ball up (Llorente maybe).

People said the same last season to be honest.

Teams copped on to their set up by the end of last season. Closely mark Hazard and you nullify most of their threats. Morata is also not the type to hustle and bustle and feeding off scraps up front like Costa, if they play without a threat in midfield to augment Hazard they will see a lot more draws this season.
