Premier League matchweek 2 (august 19th-21th)

I swear you never see passion like this in any other league in the world. Every goal is more climatic than the previous one. Every save leaves me gasping for air. Every game a compelling drama that has me sitting on edge unable to move for fear of missing a vital kick.

I love the premier league.
Wow. I agree.

What did people think of Jese? I only caught the MOTD highlights but he seemed a cut above the average inconsistent flair player - time will tell, but he looks to have good end product.

He was given a lot of space to work with. Arsenal are soo bad at defending as a team.

Really good win for Chelsea. They played well considering their main man is out. Do feel they could suffer from Morata adjusting to the league. As things stand Costa is the much better player.

That was good stuff by Kante but I don't think he had a very good game. Demebele was the stand out in midfield easily IMO.
Nah I don't either he hasn't had a great start to the season, was fairly poor against Burnley. Will be interested to see how he deals with his first season playing in Europe alongside the domestic fixtures, fatigue could take a bit of a toll on his style. Dembele was quality, but his lack of end product frustrates me, still in an incredibly well rounded midfielder

Not expecting much tonight to be honest. We haven't got any pace to counter attack and relieve the pressure on our defence.

Interesting to see City vs. Everton today. Koeman is gonna try to park 5 buses against Guardiola.

So what do we think is going to happen?
Any point watching?
I can't see Rooney stretching their defense and taking advantage of their high line.

I follow some Everton fans on Twitter, all of whom are positively giddy at the transfer business you've done this summer. Now it may just be my ignorance, but I don't look at your incomings and think they're of the calibre that will lift you above 7th place, which would be poor considering the outlay, but it's tough given the quality above you. Genuinely not trying to be incendiary in my analysis. How do you see your squad shaping up this season and what represents success?

City were pretty underwhelming against Brighton, unnecessary use of three centre backs and not a lot of invention up front with Jesus and Aguero occupying similar areas. If Pep changes things up and drops a centre back for Sane or Sterling, I can see Everton getting hammered, but they should still have enough to easily see off this Everton side with the same team from last week.

Keane and Pickford look to be brilliant signings and we will get years of great service out of them two.

Sandro looks like he could be a bargain once he settles and Rooney is great to have around the squad.

Klaassen i am unsure about and looks to be overkill in the attacking mid role now with Sigurdsson signing. I wish a winger would of been signed instead.

We seriously need to sign a proven striker though and a winger especially if Ross is going to leave.

Edit.

I think 7 and hopefully a good cup would represent a good season. Even if you spend the money to replace them, losing your 2 best attackers in Rom and Ross is going to be hard on us, added to the coleman injury.

Gutted we didn't get Keane. He has looked great in the two Everton games I have seen. Klasson looks 24 carrot pony though.

Jesus that Everton lineup looks so underwhelming, there's not a single quality attacker in there. Where is Sandro Ramirez?

EVERTON TEAM NEWS

Team to play Man City: Pickford, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Schneiderlin, Baines, Gueye, Holgate, Rooney, Davies, Calvert-Lewin.

Subs: Stekelenburg, Martina, Sigurdsson, Klaassen, Besic, Mirallas, Lookman.

MAN CITY TEAM NEWS

Team to play Everton: Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Stones, Aguero, De Bruyne, Sane, Silva, Fernandinho, Otamendi, Jesus.

Subs: Bravo, Danilo, Sterling, Mangala, Silva, Toure, Foden.

This is Skysports' line ups. and that's a very attacking team from City.

It's the first time Guardiola uses the same line-up for 2 games in a row. Koeman going with a defensive approach, instead.

Edit: Sanè on for Danilo.

I can't see how Everton will succeed in scoring any goals with this team.

Predict 2-0 win for City easily.

Maybe Rooney has suddenly been turned into a good player with pace to run at people? Have hard to see it given how poor he has been for us last few seasons and that he has lost most of his pace. What he can do is score the goals given a chance, but hard to see them getting many in this game. Although he did score against Stoke, but this will be a much tougher test for them.
