Premier League Matchday 4 (Sep 9-11)

Klopp's post-match interview:

"A lot of refereeing decisions seem to go against us. I remember last season when Valencia was offside..."

Clattenburg saying on Norwegian TV the red was a mistake, same with Trevor Sinclair. I mean...

Clearly red was the right call then if that twat thinks it was a decent challenge.

You can guarantee if it had been a United player in the same situation Clattenberg would have sent him off, let's not even pretend otherwise.

Nani's was completely different, he didn't stud the guys face for a start!
Nani wasn't running full speed.
Nani was turning and couldn't see the player.
Nani didn't stud him in the face.

Anyone comparing the two is a complete fool.

Ox on for Salah, we're going for players experienced in getting hammerings.

When Zlatan or Berbatov or somebody else takes the ball down exactly as Mane was attempting to do right there we all say what great touch it is.

Because part of the skill of a great touch like that is being totally aware of your surroundings.

Ederson is out of his area, he has to use his head. Mane is trying to knick the ball before he gets there, Ederson can see him going up with his foot yet still continues to charge and go for the header.

No red card.

Truth that some people will argue black is white.

When a guy is sprinting in from miles away, second favourite for the ball, and leaps with both feet off the floor, with leading foot head level with studs outstretched, and smashes a 6ft 2 keeper in the head, it's pretty insane to argue that's not a red.

If you don't think that's a red card, then no challenge ever is.

What? The keeper has the right to head the ball just like any other player.

Sure he has but the players also has the right to go for the ball, and considering that particular situation the foul was not completely mane's fault, city keeper is running in to the ball , he knows he cant catch it. Its like the Gk put his head in the line rather than mane going in for his head.

If an outfield player kicked another outfield player in the head, with a very high foot, anywhere on the pitch, it should be a red.

Goalkeeper in or out of his box is irrelevant.
I agree not sure why the keeper being out of thge box matters, and going out on a limb I will guess the rule book makes no such distinction. Otherwise it would be open season on the keepers head in such situations

The feck kinda sub is that ? Salah has far superior movement. Ox for Can would make more sense.

Oh, I agree completely! Can't wrap my head around an alleged professional ref saying that after seeing replays and whatnot.

Edit: This is just one of countless examples of why I've stopped watching pre- and post game analysis. It's clear for everyone to see.

Mark Clattenburg on Norwegian TV saying that's a freekick and a yellow after seing it multiple times in replay.:wenger:

Ox on at HT, great gme to make your debut, 2-0 away at city with 10 men!

I bet Otamendi is relieved, he's been skinned a few times.

That is a blatant red card for me, well done ref. Mane's outstretched studs first leg has hit Ederson in the head. Don't care if Mane is going for the ball, don't care if it is a 50/50.

If it was a Man Utd player, I'd think the same.

It was unfortunate, Mane is going for the ball but a red none the less.
Agree with this. 100% a red card.
Unfortunate, a bit like Nani, but always a red.

I am pretty sure they were not in European competition last year, so they did not, could not play against Valencia! Or was it friendly? Or season before that, their EL season?
bite, bite, bite

When Zlatan or Berbatov or somebody else takes the ball down exactly as Mane was attempting to do right there we all say what great touch it is. Then when another player flies in from miles away it's suddenly a red. Needs to be every time or never.

Anyway, game ruined by that. Wonder how many of the adament keyboard warriors were arguing the other way for Nani a few years ago?

This is a stupid lack of context. It's the fact Mane has gone into a challenge he's second favourite for, sprinted into it with full force, and recklessly endangered his opponent that is the issue.

The players you mention might sometimes control a high ball, but it's nowhere near alike.
As for Nani, his situation is nowhere near the same thing.

feck Sake Gary just shut up about the challenge you're going to look a mug when you watch it again. I hope he holds his hands up and admits he's wrong

That makes sense until you remember that Ox is also crap in goal scoring. They'll still the same if not worse.
