If he didn't kick him in the face then he wouldn't have been sent off, quite simple really. it was dangerous and has caused an injury. 100% the correct call.
I'm all for 50:50's but if one player goes in as dangerously as mane did here then they deserve a red card.
I've already said it was the correct call so not sure what argument you're trying to have?
I'm just saying it's not as black and white, good and evil, right and wrong as some of you are making it out to be.
When each player set off there, Mane looked to be favourite. He slowed down, eyes on the ball and looked to bring it down.
Ederson came in at a million miles an hour and got there first. If Mane touches the ball a split second before and Ederson plows into him it's a totally different conversation.
I know it's important to ensure player safety but it's my opinion that if a keeper can fly in with his head at a hundred miles an hour that far outside the box, he bears some of the responsibility as well.
Either we totally ban touching the ball with your foot above chest height regardless of whether or not someone's head is nearby, or we show some leniency to a player attempting to bring the ball down who gets beaten to it by an opponent.
When Zlatan or Berbatov or somebody else takes the ball down exactly as Mane was attempting to do right there we all say what great touch it is. Then when another player flies in from miles away it's suddenly a red. Needs to be every time or never.
Anyway, game ruined by that. Wonder how many of the adament keyboard warriors were arguing the other way for Nani a few years ago?
