This may sound silly considering how well they’ve done, but Newcastle have to replace almost their entire first 11 to compete at the top. I’d be shocked if they were anywhere near as good next season without a huge summer.

McGinn has long periods where, in my opinion, he doesn't do enough - then he has a run of excellent games before falling back again and I don't think he does the same job as Rice so can't compare the two

Still annoyed at the brentford game, Newcastle should've lost be a couple but ground out a win. 6 points from the 3 away games of west ham, Brentford and villa is still a plus overall I'd say.

Agree, he does but the whole Villa squad seem to suffer from that same symptom so I wonder if he'd raise his game at a team like United? Maybe not? I know they don't do the same job but I know who'd I'd rather have starting for us.

That's a big hyperbole. I'm not someone who rates Rice highly but he's better than McGinn. Rice is linked to most of the big teams while only United have ever looked at McGinn as a serious option.
