Premier League Gameweek 29

Alderweireld and Vertonghen have to be two of the best defenders in the league.
Alderweireld, I'd agree, he's been the best defender in the league this season. However, Vertonghen, like David Luiz for Chelsea, is benefitting from the system allowing him to play his natural, aggressive defending style. He's frequently tasked with closing down 1 player, and if he fails, he knows that Alderweireld is there to cover for him.

How can a car present the half time show?

Well, might be better than most of the pundits

If this was Jose, he'd now be preparing Trippier, Onomah and Moussa Sissoko to come on for Alli, Eriksen and Son.
To be fair if he'd have rested Kane when they played Millwall he wouldn't be injured right now.

Pochettino has a good charm on full backs. Walker, Rose, Shaw, Clyne......even Davies is looking reasonably competent now.

 Absolutely no chance. They are gonna finish above us for sure.
I know you won't agree with me but I still think you will make top 4, you guys always do it. I never expect you to lose to West Brom, thought you would get a draw at the very least but its not shocking anyway. This international break couldn't come at a better time for you. You guys do well when there are no expectations. I reckon you will go on a winning run after the international break and beat Spurs in the run-in.

I just saw Spurs' first chance of the game again, the Son Heung-Min miss. Why didn't Yoshida play Son offside there? That's not the first time I see that happening, too. Very few defenders try to play Son offside. Way too often do I notice defenders following him rather than maintaining their defensive line.

Also, I just saw that Southampton penalty shout. That's a clear penalty, and I'm surprised that it wasn't given.

spurs are one of those irritating teams who just keep getting results. it's a bit concerning how much better they're becoming season after season. kudos to pochettino, he's obviously got that something which majority of special managers possess. hopefully real madrid come in for him

Southampton getting undone by the ref so far, penalty not given and Dier should have been a red not a yellow, he was high off the ground and was endangering an opponent as clear red as you could see all season.

I really don't know. More teams to catch and more teams who are as good as you or even better this season, plus the whole mood at Arsenal is toxic.

Southampton's defence always drops too deep whenever Spurs advance into the final third. There's always so much space for someone to receive the ball at the edge of the box.

Not at this stage of the season anymore, we're running out of games so we need Pool to drop as many points. City is out of Europe so they will get top 4 anyway, even if they were in Europe, they still have too much quality not to get top 4. Whereas Liverpool has a tendency to bottle it and with their horrific record against the smaller teams, I reckon we have a good chance of overtaking them for 4th. I just can't see Spurs and City not getting top 4.

Stranger things have happened. They only pipped us to 4th last season on GD don't forget after their blistering start. I would rather have a chance of chasing down two teams than just one. They do tend to drop points in silly games like us so you never know.

Anyway, I'm rooting for a draw or a Liverpool win.

Son Heung-Min's done a decent job of playing up front and filling in for Kane. He's kept himself high up the pitch and allowed Eriksen/Alli to drop into the spaces that they like to occupy. Plus, his link-up play's been pretty good.

Every time Son goes forward, Southampton's defensive line drops deeper, and he's done a good job of stretching Southampton's shape.

Good work by Southampton, but that was poor by Toby. Why did he try to control that? He should have kicked that away!

That's what Southampton need to continue doing. They need to keep pushing forward and testing the Southampton Spurs defence.
