I rest my case
I do of course, but I take issue with saying that Chelsea did better vs Pool than we did vs Young Boys, which is objectively false.
End of the day it took a gift from Jesse for us to lose today, for all their bluster YB created only 2 chances, one from a deflected cross and the other the miss immediately after the red.
We won't. We're going into the rest of these games basically 1-0 down, desperately chasing wins against Villarreal and Atalanta for the next 4 games.
This result has absolutely fecked the group for us.
You argue against yourself. He is supposed' to be further up the pitch but was sucked deep like everyone. If he was further upfield he doesnt do the backpass. The backpass was a product of our negativity. Ronaldo was trying to get us higher up the pitch. Shame Ole couldnt see that. But this is not the first time with him and wont be the last.??? Lingard was put on because of his excellent work rate to try and apply pressure further up the pitch. We weren’t getting that from Ronaldo. I don’t think that’s a “park the bus’ approach when you are a man down. You could argue that Greenwood might have been a better option, but he doesn’t have the work rate of Lingard. Seriously, I think you fellas need to take a break from football for awhile. This is a painful loss, but this team won their league last season, they are pretty well coached. I think the outrage is a bit comical.
Exactly, if we can't beat three very beatable teams at home, today was not the (only) issueWell if we can't turn this around in the next 5 games then don't deserve to get out of this group anyway
We defended well before the goal. They got the ball but couldn't do much with it.Even if we got a draw though, I would still be pointing the finger at Ole for allowing us to play like that. It was a shambolic performance even for 10 men.

Whoa, there sunshine! Enough positivity! Have you thought of a career as a therapist? Sheesh…We won't. We're going into the rest of these games basically 1-0 down, desperately chasing wins against Villarreal and Atalanta for the next 4 games.

I've just been sent a stat, unsure if genuine "United have lost 7 of their 13 CL matches under OGS. 13% of their total defeats in the competition have come under him (7/54) despite him only being in charge for 4% of our matches (11/231)"
Tonight was the first time I've got the faintest hint that unless he sorts things out, he could lose the dressing room at some point. It's great we've got players who have won things now and those that seemingly have a winning mentality, the trouble for Ole is they expect to be challenging to win things, not acting like Burnley
Yes the red card didn't help but we were at sixes and sevens at the back even before that. Young Boys actually looked quite good, though that may have just been us making them look that way
To then end the game with 7 defenders, bringing on someone like Jlingz who's at best a squad player when the likes of Greenwood sit on the bench, and despite the 7 defenders still managing to concede from a catastrophic error from a player who should have been sold
This is not a reaction to the game, as I said it when the draw was made, but I will say again, not getting out this group should be a sackable offence.
S'pose it was a fair red. I just wanted a quick vent tbh.

Why do you think Lingard is so deep? It was a product of our mental park bus tactics. I mean if you take Ronaldo and Fernandes off..it better work. But it failed abysmally. Predictably. Soo soooooo predictableAbsolutely fine. I've got no issue with blaming Ole for things like the team (though everyone pre game said fine... some even said too many first teamers), the tactics or the subs.
But to ONLY moan about Ole is stupid? Those posters get on my fecking nerves.. it feels like they're almost happy we lost so they can say "I was right, Ole is shit"
AWB was an idiot, Lingard was an idiot... there's a few mistakes tonight.
If I was Lingard, I'd go and stand next to Ole in the post match and apologise. Two minutes, one fecking job (run hard, support the defence, don't do anything stupid).
What result do we want in the other game tonight
To qualify, you probably want any win, then the same team to win again in the reverse match. What result do we want in the other game tonight
Damn first I'm hearing of that. Terrible news.
It was mental. There was no logic. Martial didnt look like he wanted to come on and played that wayWhen Martial came on, he dropped back in place of Fred seemingly? It was bizarre.
I agree our response after the goal was poor, but the thing is we were a goal up when the red card happened. It doesn't make sense when people expect us to go all out and kill the game just because they are some swiss side, in that situation. We should be trying to attack, not park the bus for an hour. It's as if no team has ever won before after getting a man sent off.
In fairness, he’s only had one group stage and has otherwise played PSG twice and Barca twice. Still a shite record.
Luckily the other 3 teams are quite evenly matched. If we were in this group with a big side then we’d be looking at second place already, but I can see the others all taking an even amount of points off each other. To qualify, you probably want any win, then the same team to win again in the reverse match.
To win the group, you probably want two draws.
We probably want a winner, as you'd expect both will beat YB home and away, so if they draw it could leave it very precarious if we slip up again.
You should really take a break. Go read a book.
To be honest we barely deserved to win that PSG away game. Gave us a couple of gifts.
He brings Verane on and takes VDB off so we basically allow YB to get to our area with nothing to stop them in midfield. He then takes off our goal threat by bringing off Bruno and Ronaldo, then flip flops on 89 mins and brings on Martial for a quick goal, who has shown nothing of note and leaves Greenwood on the bench. Best sub he did was taking the ineffectual Sancho off. It’s one thing to say “what about the crazy subs”, and it’s another to back it up. Tell me, what subs did he make that were a mistake at the time, and, since you seem to think you know a lot about football tactics, what would your subs have been and why?
Agree with beating them at home but don't think they will find it easy in Switzerland either, god that place is a graveyard for us at times always remember that horror injury for Nemanja in Basel (shudders)
And here we are… Ole blamed for Lingard’s poor back pass. The tactics were to hit the ball over the top for Martial to either get loose or kill the game with a point. Lingard was playing deeper, in Fred’s spot because Fred was absolutely knackered and not closing quick enough. You argue against yourself. He is supposed' to be further up the pitch but was sucked deep like everyone. If he was further upfield he doesnt do the backpass. The backpass was a product of our negativity. I said it was a tougher group than people thought as soon as Atalanta came out of Pot 3. Young Boys out of Pot 4, considering their record last year, was potentially going to offer real problems too, especially when you play them with 10 men.Luckily the other 3 teams are quite evenly matched. If we were in this group with a big side then we’d be looking at second place already, but I can see the others all taking an even amount of points off each other.
You have to run harder when you are a man down. And they are playing at home with the crowd behind him. It's an unnecessary tactic when you are comfortably a goal up and they are taking pot shots outside the box.Big difference between going all out and parking the bus mate. There is a happy medium.
