PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:1 West Ham United

Post-match discussion

Sun, 27 November 2016

PSV are bottom half championship quality - I don't know why anyone thought a performance like the one in midweek would have any relevance on today.

Pogba does all he can, but Rashford and Lingard are so average, Darmian is awful going forward and Valencia still can't put a decent ball in. With that complete lack of width, what do you do?

Pogba worked hard, Zlatan was mostly invisible, Herrera was ok, Jones looks good.. Rooney looked decent off the bench Miki was pretty invisible.. Almost forgot Mata played..

Mourinho also needs to step up and start leading the team, and stop being a child. The referees are not against him/us, we're just playing average football. A couple of wrong decisions (not that i thought there was much wrong today) don't matter if you're playing better..

Carrick definately would have made a difference. He just moves the ball forwards so well for us and provides a shield at the back so that Pogba and Herrera can attack more freely.
This is why we need bastian to play. he's the closest to Carrick we have. pogba and Ander does not work. can't believe Jose still tries it

Rooney had a chance, didn't put enough on it...we hit the post (is that not a chance?)

First half, had a break away by Rashford, Zlatan shot blocked...all chances
Rooneys has to go down as a half chance, pretty sure the best one came down to zlatan.
Agreed mhiki should of scored.
Didn't deserve to win tho we were awfully lvg like today

The rush to absolve Mourinho of all blame is increasingly odd. It's his team and our results are quite honestly pathetic.
Nah I don't see much of that but many want him to get time to get this right. We are playing better football but somehow lack the ability to kill teams off.

We played well today but we are unable to grind out a win. I remember how lucky we were under Van Gaal, but that luck seems nonexistent at the moment.

You can be lucky in a cup, but where you finish in a league is a reflection of how you have performed that season.

Need to start scoring goals pronto. Being unlucky and super keepers doesn't happen game after game.

We are playing better, creating more than the last 4 seasons - time to take the bloody chances and leave the excuses behind

We have some real problems going on. Shaw and Martial don't seem to be able to play a couple of games back to back, at least not well, and that should be our left hand side.

Carrick is needed for maximum balance In the centre, but we can't use him too often.

Miki thank goodness has just started firing, as that was becoming a right saga.

How to fit Rooney in. How to fit Mata in.

How to get people scoring the tonnes of chances we're wasting!

Garhrhh..

steps away from laptop.

If you think the Mkhitaryan saga is over after his performance today then you're gravely wrong. Just wait and see how Mourinho handles that.

The rush to absolve Mourinho of all blame is increasingly odd. It's his team and our results are quite honestly pathetic.

Needs 3 years innit...:wenger:

It's like if he stays for 2 or more years that automatically means he's going to be successful with us...

Until the excuses come out that 4 transfer windows aren't enough to solve our problems.

Spent most of the match just trying to get a stable stream, which just added to the frustration.

From what I could see this wasn't like the Stoke/Burnley/Arsenal games. We definitely should've won those games. Today we didn't do enough.

John Moss is a cnut. Ridiculous booking for Pogba, sending Mourinho off was daft, and he allowed West Ham to constantly time waste, especially in injury time. Clock needs to be taken out of referee's hands.

I will tell you one thing, Mata is the only player in this team, when the chance falls to him, i am very confident he will put it away except this everybody else we have either, due to age or whatever reasons are not clinical enough, And he plays on the right hand side not close enough to goal. You compare that to top sides with Barca and Neymar, Messi, Suarez, and similarly Bayern and Madrid, even Liverpool with the likes of Coutinho, Firminho and Struddige are very good finishers, Arsenal with Giroud and Alexis, Chelsea with Hazard and Costa the list goes on, and the biggest difference is they play the closest to goal and with the most chances falling to them, with us it keeps falling to Lingard or Rashford and Zlatan who keeps fecking them up.

What else can he do other than smash the fecking ball in the back of the net himself?

These cnuts just switch off at the beginning of the match. Then completely bottle in front of goal for the 4th premier league match running.

When will people stop blaming the manager and start seeing that its these bunch of shitcnuts masquerading as Manchester United players that are not good enough? 4 years isnt obvious enough for you?

The players we have are more than good enough. Some of them, such as Martial, are sat at home while our manager decides that lumping balls into Fellaini is a better tactic when in need of a goal. Mata, comfortably our best attacker in recent weeks, was substituted for no reason yet again.

The finishing has been appalling, but no real attempt to create a balanced first team is evident.

Desperately need a striker that can finish. It's all huff and puff and no end product.

This club spent almost 160 million pounds this summer. Regardless of the player decisions that were made 2 years ago, they had ample resources to devote to restocking the striking department. They consciously chose to go with a 35 year old who they're running into the ground (he's started like 15 games and it's not even December).

What does the amount of money have to do with it ? It is down to the constant swapping of managers, staff, players, tactics, formations etc that is causing the problems. Throwing money at players and expecting a return based on that is completely pointless.

Truly sick of those "we were unlucky" excuses. You ain't unlucky if you pick Lingard as a starter and you're not unlucky when that same Lingard makes completely idiotic faul in first minute of the game in a dangerous area. You're not unlucky when 35 year old striker can't follow his man and we concede from that same set piece.

You're not unlucky when you're chasing the result and you bring Fellaini on whilst Martial is watching the game from the stands. No, we weren't unlucky and Mourinho needs to take some responsibility for mind-boggling team selection and his constant sending off. Zlatan scored and he was good today but again he missed a sitter, actually he took forever to shot and he got blocked.

That awful first touch after Collins mistake is just astonishing. Rashford instead of going past the keeper he made the wrong choice to shot like he did. Unlucky was that post from Mickey Taryan. If anything we were lucky because of the fact that the ref didn't give West Ham a penalty for that hand ball from Rojo.

Mata and Lingard were incredibly bad today, Rojo was also making mistakes. Only Pogba, Valencia, Jones and Herrera looked invested. Jones "God bless him) is playing really good, he won every single aerial duel, Smalling should be worried for his spot.

Overall anything disapointing result at home and I'm fekin sick of "unlucky" excuses.
You having problems with your fonts dear?

At this rate it'll take us forever to get 20 more points to make sure we're safe from the drop:rolleyes:

We'll just have to go and win the EL (sigh)

I missed more participation of the full backs in the attack, to open the pitch and disperse the defense.
I liked Pogba, has a great control of the ball, and good short and long pass.
I think that he is better closer to the area.
When playing in the middle sometimes he seems to be in the background, watching the development of the play from the distance.
Some nice long horizontal pass,a dribbing in the middle of the field, a control keeping the ball against two players...Too many small actions for the highlights but without specific weight.
On the other hand he seems the only midfielder able to play a risky pass or provoke something different (I only watched the second half)

Starting to lose hope for top four now.

Unless we win some incredibly difficult away fixtures its just not happening.

I wonder if this will force our hand in January. Feels like we are just lacking that spark or bit of inspiration in the league. This team is so unsure of themselves and it shows. Just a lack of composure in front of goal, and a lack of focus right at the start of the match.

I still trust Jose to fix this because there has been progress in the way we play. We are beating most teams in terms of possession, dominance/control of the game and chances created.

Its just a shame that maybe some of the players arent good enough to take us to the next level.

But it is game after game after game that we are dropping points and when it becomes this symptomatic, I'am always looking at the coach.
If the team is playing well, but not finishing or not executing at the final moment, but all the other game plan is carried out, why would you not look to the players?

The coach can't kick it in the net for them.

Still very positive. We're creating chance after chance in every game and have been the better team in every domestic game barring Watford, City & Chelsea.

The criticisms of Mourinho are laughable in truth. I'm not sure what people expect the manager to do. Lingard has given away the stupidest foul on the edge of the area with the best set piece taker in the league in opposition. We've gotten back into the game and had several chances to win by 2 or 3.

Mourinho brought Zlatan in as he was supposed to be our clinical finisher. In truth he should be on 11 PL goals this year and each of those extra 4 goals would be worth a couple of points. Rashford likewise should be finishing that chance and Mkhitaryan also.

Refereeing decisions of the whole have been unfavourable and opposition goalkeepers have played very well against us. These aren't excuses, just facts.

All I'll say is if we had 12/13 Van Persie we'd be in a similar position to 12/13 United and we'd probably be favourites for the League.

Now let's see.We drew against Burnley who WBA trashed 4-0. We draw against Stoke who were useless and we draw against West Ham who came for a point and got one.

If we're honest here; lumping high balls at the end was so predictable,Bilic must have prayed that was going to happen and when he saw Fellaini he must have pissed himself laughing.

We have admit that this guy is not the answer to our needs. He doesn't deserve one more let alone 2 more seasons.I'm for cutting our losses right now and getting rid of the childish, pathetic cnut

I have to say I'm with you. From the moment he was hired, I wanted him to do well because it was for the club's sake but I also can't wait until he leaves. The idea that we're languishing mid-table while this dirty, slimy, scum-sucking, egotistical prick behaves like this infuriates me.

United under Mourinho when we we're winning = barely tolerable

United under Mourinho when we we're not winning and witnessing his arrogance = unbearable

Quite simple.

Only saw last ten min of the match....Felleni is a fecking shite...should be nowhere near OT...would force Mourinho to come up with a plan b and or c.....Miki from what I saw is really starting to come on...one thing I've noticed about him in these last two matches...he is constantly moving....whereas the other nine just stand around waiting for soemthing to happen...that shot Ibra took at the by line on the right Miki was waiting in the middle...Scholes like....sounds as if Rashford was playing on the left again? Mind boggling....we need to start to play him or Martial with Ibra up front or feck off Ibra and bring in a striker....who? I don't know....apparently Griezmann is the flavor of the month right now...something must be done....Mourinho must figure this team out and soon....should Miki and Mata both start? Where was Carrick?

The first half alone should have seen us well clear to be honest.
Shouldn't have even given them a sniff of a later effort, as we could even have lost it.

Mourinho should get another season, even if we come 8th. I don't think we'll get top four, but we'll get nothing by changing manager again. We're on our fourth in four years. At least with Mourinho you can see what it is we're trying to do, and it isn't the idealism of van Gaal where we control the possession and aspire to never make a mistake. It's pragmatic and potentially very entertaining football. Ruthless finishing is the difference between where we are and top 3 (roughly).

Let him build his own team, but be ready to write this season off.

Irrespective of the result, the early goals we are conceding is a far bigger problem right now. We have conceded 3 goals in the 1st 2 minutes since the Chelsea game, and almost gifted one to Iheanacho in LC as well. This may well become an area where teams look forward to take advantage of us in the next few GWs

I fecking hate WH and their shithouse tactics.

Also, we can't say "it's one of those days" any longer, because it's become an awful lot of them this season. We need to put teams to the sword when we have the advantage and make our own luck.

Yes, we hit the post and their keeper made some decent saves, but it could easily have gone the other way when they had some decent chances in the second half

Also Mou is starting to piss me off with the following:
1) Starting Rashford as a winger when: a) Hes not a bloody winger and b) Is experiencing a sever dip in form
2) ALWAYS subbing Mata. He wasn't great today, but he makes out MF tick and is one of the few players we do have that can conjure up a little bit of magic when we need it.
3) Putting on Fellaini and trying route 1 tactics when the chips are down.
