Jose's pissed at our attacking four. Happy with the back six

I'm pleased with that talk at least. A lot of folks on here could do with listening to that.

There's no point blaming Pulis/WBA for being defensive or blaming a 'wonder goalkeeper' (which is a load of bollocks anyway) - it's up to UNITED to do something.

Didn't see the match but we always knew it will be 0-0, didn't we? The ones who said we don't need Ibra as we have Rashford :D Rashford's goal scoring record this season is unbelievably shite, can't wait to replace him with someone who can actually do something more than running.

I'm not even sure if a draw against West Brom is a bad result for this side considering the circumstances and absence of Herrera, Pogba and Zlatan.

Something that struck me during today's game was that we really need to start taking more shots on goal from outside and around the box. Rashford was the only player to effectively do this today, and was the only player of ours that looked like scoring. Taking your chance with pot-shots at goal was also the reason why WBA almost nicked it at the end.

If you're playing a defence that is stationed on the edge of their box all game then you've got to draw them out, and by forcing them to close down shots from range you do this. More space and confusion is caused by this and - you know - you instantly have a chance of scoring. When was the last time we scored a long range goal in the league, more specifically, at home? I might have had a few during that drab pile of shite but I certainly can't recall it. Defences are never going to be drawn out by sideway balls around their box - ball we played endlessly today - if they know that we're only going to revert to crossing it in when all else has failed.

Besides that, what can be taken from that is Europa is our season now, Rooney - despite one or two genuinely creative looking through-balls - simply isn't an attacking option any more ,and, it hurts for me to say this, but Martial really is having a shocker of a second season.

Worst performance of the season, hands down (well, not including losing).

Absolute gash from start to finish. So many of those players need a good, long, hard look at themselves.

We're nothing more than an expensive mid-table team. Top 4 is gone as far as I'm concerned, not expecting anything to come of this season. There are better teams than us in the EL, that's gonna be an uphill battle in itself. Don't even know where to start with the performance itself. My enthusiasm is dead, for the rest of the season.

Bobbins.

Typical Mourinho. Playing in that back-6 today was probably as easy as it gets in this league. Maybe he should start to focus on getting some of those 6 to contribute more to our attacking play to help break teams down.

Lazy response I reckon... Even Barcelona has these kind of games, where it's impossible to break through 10 men in front of goal
Every team does, not every team has 10 games like this at home in a season though. Eventually you need to accept there is a problem with the team.

surprised to see luck mentioned earlier in the thread

it's quite simple really.......we've been hindered by a lack of quality in the final third

replace some of the more limited quality players like Young, Rooney, Lingard, Fellaini with top talent

give Rashford/Marital a run of games to develop their sharpness

the goals and results will come last season if Mourinho is ruthless enough - based on what he said in his latest presser i feel confident - we need players who will run through walls to win

This 100%. Luck would be one or two games over a season. To go so many games at home and convey the same pattern is not bad luck. Its something wrong with the system.

This season in the league is a write off. Buy in a few players in the summer and next season we will be much better.

That is true... Confidence probably plays a huge part in the lack of creativity currently though

Mark lawrenson was doing co commentary on Irish radio, he was doing post match analysis. As of 5 mins ago he said the players still on the pitch with all the coaching staff.
I'm not really sure what the point of that being, and I never really have. Wouldn't you just increase the possibility of injuries with a bunch of tired players having to be pushed for another hour?

Felt like LVG United today. To be fair, we're missing key players and leaders. Also keep in mind that we have games in hand and some of those are against rivals. And when those players come back (Zlatan, Pogba, Herrera) they will have the rest they need.

I don't like this "front 4" he talks about. We're at home against a team who only want to defend - the full backs should basically play as wingers and should surely be spending most of the game attacking. The amount of times I watched Valencia or Young tucked in, basically doing the job of Carrick or Fellaini was infuriating.

With two top full backs we win these games because suddenly West Brom are having to spread out. It's all well and good talking about Griezmann, but we need to open up the pitch against these teams for anyone to be be truly effective.

So easy that Arsenal lost to them. Defensively, keeping them at bay with a high line, not conceding too much free-kicks or corners, we played quite well. Instead, we could've dropped deep to hit them on the counter.

EUFA needs to seriously consider giving champions league spots to the kings of draws in the top leagues or create something like the EUFA Draw League.

Rashford isn't ready. Marshall isn't ready.
We need another top striker. It all looks good until the finish.
I don't think that's true, we barely got into position to finish today. Foster wasn't exactly Superman today

The danger is that if we push the full backs too far up, we get hit on the counter.

Indeed. What an achievement by our back 6. In fact let's look at our midfield two. Carrick and Fellaini is a shockingly immobile midfield. He's the one who stuck with Fellaini and treated Schweinstieger "regretfully". That really helped our cause.

Just got back from the match. WBA didn't have any intention of attacking at all....and the space up front for us was so dam limited. However, we have very little creativity or ideas in that final third. It was often so frustrating when we got the ball in midfield and instead of pushing forward with players trying to find space with movement there was often nothing to pass to, so we just cross fielded it. The crowd were waving their hands frantically in the desperation for more speed in attack, especially when on the few times WBA did venture forward and so left more space at the back. Even the crowd knew by the end of the first half we weren't going to score. Also, without Ibra...there was no point really in putting balls into the box....the WBA defense dealt with nearly every ball so easily, there was often hardly anyone in the box when we were wide, so we have to keep passing sideways outside the box.....hoping for someone to find some space...but the players weren't moving to find the space, so it all just peters out when inevitably, with bloody 11 WBA players in or around the box, they win the ball and punt it forward.....

Our defense mind you is great and Bailly is a beast...he was very good. We are very very frustrating to watch in that final third. Mkhitayran was poor today. Fellaini worked bloody hard and so did Lingard.

We are too slow in attacking defensive transition there is no explanation other Than this.

Yeah because Schweinsteiger offers so much power and pace in midfield, doesn't he?

They didn't even try to win today. What they did against Arsenal is irrelevant. I've never seen a team as disinteressed in attacking as West Brom in the first half today. Our defenders coping with their "lump the ball up front to the lonely striker"-tactics is nothing more than what should be expected. Praising them for it and giving stick to the rest of the team seems a bit weird to me, but it's Mourinho...

Andy Carrol available?
Seriously though we are creating chances. We need someone that has that knack of finding the net. Zlatan is great but we need a clinical goal threat. If a Romario was available right now I'd break the bank.

:D Not asking much,eh. In today's market, he'd cost at least 150m.

You expect Carrick and fellani to be mobile? It's our attackers who need to be more mobile

Yeah because Schweinsteiger offers so much power and pace in midfield, doesn't he?
No, he offers more class and vision and that's at least something. Given he got rid of Schweinstieger and Schneiderlin, and put all his eggs in the Pogba basket, he has himself to blame for the immobile midfield we have today which offered zero quality in attack and supporting our inexperienced attack.
