We dominated some possession but it’s still worrying how little we create. Amad Ugarte maz kobi and yoro only looked like the ones with quality again.

It was a comedy of errors. A game completely defined by it's mistakes.

However, in the periods of calm we were the better team. Dominated the first half but lacked a cutting edge. Gifted them that goal at the beginning of the 2nd half which got their tails up and they looked confident whilst we looked rattled, but I don't think a team has ever been more flattered to be winning 3-0. The commentators tried to make it sound like they were cruising to a deserved win, but you just knew if we got one sniff we'd be back in it.

Not really that fussed to go out to be honest. Would rather not play the 2 leg semi and concentrate on climbing the table and getting further in Europa, which is probably our best shot at Europe again next season.

Very poor goalkeeping and defending. After we got our 2nd from Amad's masterclass in closing down I was dissappointed. Yes we were calm and patient trying to build up but never really got going in a threatening way. There was never any tempo to it at that point. We had the ball and Spurs were the ones looking nervous at the back, but we didn't look like opening them up. Then they just get a goal from the corner to kill the game.

The decision making in this Man Utd squad is shockingly bad. So many bafflingly idiotic decisions from front to back.

Spurs are not a good team and they have not played well against us this season. Yet we have conceded 7 goals against them. That says a lot.

Amorim played a lot of players who showed what we already know: They're not good enough. I guess he will learn from this. However, Wilcox should have already told him who can't hack it.

What a weird match... 7 goals straight from the udemy course how not to defend. Don't think we were good, way too soft all over the pitch. Didn't create anything of note and scored from a setpiece and two complete blunders. It'll be a long way... Not a criticism towards the coach though, it was always going to happen, we are playing at the highest level, learning on the job is basically impossible. We might get away here and there but our opponents watch us, they know what we are trying to do, know what works well and what doesn't and where to hurt us.

A weirdly refreshing defeat... nice to see some fight and not wilt at 3-0 down.

Tottenham were lucky, if only we could finish.

Shocking goalkeeping all round.

Some poor performances tonight.

Martinez should be no where near the starting 11, simply awful.
Too many mistakes but a decent second half papered over a lot of cracks.

Amorim making too many changes no chance these players are going to get team chemistry and momentum going his way and introducting inactive players like Lindelof to the line up in the defence

But the players are still stuck in a complacent mentality where they have to wait to go a goal down and having their back against the wall to start playing football.

Do not get why Onana needed to be rested and give this below average goalkeeper game time in a key fixture. Made absolutely no sense. What's clear is Ten hag has done so much damage brining in overpriced dross who add nothing to the club. only Maraoui is the only signing from his reign that looks like value for money. The rest look like either liabilities or medocre sub standard players who have no place being first team members at a club looking to get back to the top

I wrote earlier in matchday thread that Utd usually need 2 goals to draw, owing to catastrophic mistakes leading to gifts of goals but we even outdid ourselves! Not that fussed about league cup but this unfortunately is a trend going back several years, our players are mentally weak and have a real issue concentrating for 90 min. I don't think these characteristics vacancy be coached out so it's rinse repeat with players.

Amorim, I trust 100%, the players...no way close!

Utterly bizarre game. We look promising, but we've so much deadwood left in this squad.

I'd shave my head for a proper goalkeeper. Have we considered begging DDG to come back for a season, on loan?

DDG, are you having a laugh?

Give your head a shave.

Weird game, one we should of won but we can't make stupid mistakes and expect to get away with it constantly.
Not particularly bothered about going out, gives Amorim more time to try and polish a few turds.

Mistakes at both ends. We were the better team. Unlucky really.

Weak ref took away any chance of getting another. Disappointing to lose, but at least it was only the carabao.

With our most optimal XI, we might just about have a decent team, however, a few changes and the quality drops significantly. If Amad, De Ligt, Shaw, Onana start that game, we probably win easily. Shaw is obviously a pipe dream, but Spurs scored 4 goals doing very little, and our attacking impetus was blunt with Bruno and Antony in our front 3.

I mean in that home game we could have been 5-0 down by the time Bruno was (wrongly) sent off.

The fact we looked the better side tonight in general play is probably a good sign for Amorim.

Var would never have allowed sons corner goal to stand. Bergvall deliberately took Bayindirs arm away. Miss VAR.
We are still clueless in defence.
Martinez is a fun player to watch but is useless in certain situations.
Bayindir had a rough game and is going to have to wait a long time for his next chance.
We can not win games without Amad. We need his quality. No surprise we started the comeback when he got on the pitch.

Like one of those madcap Thursday night European games that was played under Ten Hag. Both gifting goals the 4th goal and match winner would not have stood with VAR in operation.

On the positive side of things United had 20 shots on goal and 55% possession it's a while since they had that against Tottenham away and could be blessing in disguise avoiding a two leg semi final tie v Liverpool,Newcastle or Arsenal in already busy schedule.

Moving swiftly on and need to bounce back with a win on Sunday.

Feels like Amorim went there to give some players a run out. Antony, Ericksen, Lindelof and Beyindir.

Got what we deserved.

Lets face it, had Forster not gifted us two goals, it wouldn't have even been close.

At least now Amorim knows he has two dodgy keepers!

They won't win it, the other three teams have better goal threats and two of them definitely better keepers.
Exactly, it's the team you want to play if you're the other 3. They might raise their game v Arsenal but Newcastle and Liverpool will very much be up for it again them.

- Your team is on the right track
- Amorim should have fielded his best 11. This was not a lost cause like the league
- it's been a while since I saw the United players care that much. Kudos to Amorim
- You need to replace some players and you'll do great.
- More contentious point: I don't blame Martinez for the second goal, nor Bayındır for the first, or at least it was not a howler, like the fourth or like Forster's.

Bar 15 mins at the start of the second half where the team collectively lost their head and resorted to Eth (aka crap) hoof ball with no pressing and poor defensive organisation, we were definitely the better team.

We are already way better than what Eth had us after 2+ years of real misery. Get in a few quality players and we will definitely be seeing this team challenging for the top honours soon. Best is that players like Bruno are showing that they are capable of playing possession football as well. Just confirms that it was Eth either turning a blind eye or using crap ball tactics with Bruno going for a final ball every time he received it and giving it away.

Encouraged by that tbh. Individual errors cost us. Bayindir is terrible.

When do we actually play the pressing game? I in first half therr weere a few occasions when we were ball watching - literally walking around watching the pass the ball between them.

We have a lot of games over Christmas, you have to rotate. The Bournemouth game to me is important for our league position.

Don't really mind losing that to be honest. We don't need the extra games and probably would've got knocked out to either of Arsenal or Liverpool anyway. Just don't let that fella Bayindir play again, awful.
