Was as clear a headbutt as there is.. Didn't matter what Arguero did Fellaini headbutted him

Except that Aguero made exactly the same head motion, so in that case they both have to go.

Typical Atkinson though, does what the home crowd tells him to

It will be blow well out of proportion. Commentators were talking about it if was a proper headbutt. Fellaini put his head down into Aguero's and as they were both moving towards each other it made it look worse that it was.
Yeah exactly, Aguero made a meal out of it, yes it wasn't smart from Felliani but I do sympathise and understand his frustration.

That wasn't pretty, but the minimum requirement was a point, and we got it. All that matters at this stage.

Will be interesting to see how we setup against Spurs and Arsenal, presuming that we manage to overcome Swansea at the weekend. We obviously can't settle for a point in both those matches, so we will a more expansive approach. Not sure what that will look like under Mourinho. Hopefully we'll have Pogba back for those games, at the very least. He's essential in our transition from defense to attack, and even if we're sitting as low as we were today, his passing is good enough to create a chance or two for Rashford.

Fellaini should have fell too. Aguero was smart to fake it.

At Old Trafford; Aguero, Sane, Jesus, Gundogan, Toure, Kompany were all out & you had all those players you mentioned fit. Was still 60:40 possession, twice as many shots, and shots on target for City.

Not convinced that's a valid excuse; it was clearly a tactic to just put 10 men behind the ball & defend for 90 minutes.

Yea even if we had a full roster he would have played the same way and correctly so.

I think some fans are naive. We are never going to beat city 3-0 in city. If we do its a freak result.

Good point earned.

At OT, with an unbiased ref, bravo would've sent off for two-footed challenge. Not convinced that's a valid excuse.

Poor TFM... lad just got a chance and he ends up with this shit injury:(

Is this the first game this season no one has put one of our bad performances down to lack of pace?:)

Mourinho on the game
“We wanted to do more. We wanted to exploit the counter attack more. We did that in the first half but 2nd was more difficult, in the end we went down to ten and had to make the right decisions to get a point.

“We missed a bit of quality from the players on the pitch in the midfield. They stopped us with a lot of fouls but experienced fouls - they are clever because the referee doesn’t give it.

“In the second half City were stronger than us.”

Yup, this was not counter-attacking football. This was an ultra defensive set-up to negate the opponent, which should never be acceptable at Manchester United.
People often mistake the two. Not a single manager actively asks their players to not counter or try to score on the break. The difference is how prepared you get them to do that before the match and how much support you give your attacking players so they can stand a chance doing that. If a player produces an out of this world counter attacking performance, people mistake it for the manager playing brilliant counter attacking football. Mourinho's pragmatism and tendency to not have a way of playing means that he goes with the flow and the flow means that when you are playing against half decent sides, your only chance is to stop them first and look to hurt them later. The necessities of the former often means the latter is never gotten to.

Dear me the fecking negativity. That's a very decent point in a very tough game with a tired united squad who have been hit by three key players being injured in a week.

It's only a bad performance if you think we went there looking to play sexy football and win 3-0.

People should be glad we have a manager who can make us so hard to beat. Because when he gets the chance to add a few more quality players to the mix this is going to be another very good united side.

24 games unbeaten? That's not luck.

Mourinho on Fellaini's red card
“I spoke with Marouane and he is very disappointed. He feels it is a red card because it is Marouane Fellaini. I spoke with Martin [Atkinson] and he said in his opinion it was a red card. I didn’t watch but I can guess it is a bit of red card and a bit of a very experienced, smart Argentinian player.”

“Fosu-Mensah was very injured in the last action - the last tackle. He was on the floor and he is also an important player.”

Fellaini is a moron for lowering his head. Aguero is a cnut but it's all Fellaini for being the type of player he is. He was never suited for United and I hope this makes him gone.
Thats an overreaction, both players heads moved together as in squaring up to each other like you see regularly enough in football and Aguero jumped to the ground.

I cant see how Atkinson is getting pelters. Fellaini was a bell-end. It was definitely a butt, Aguero made the most of it just like any player would do. that Im afraid is what modern football is all about. every player is trying to con the ref nowadays

Mickhi was non existent I agree, and when he had the ball he quickly lost it. I think Lingard should have started instead. Martial problem is that he doesnt run so much behind a defens but wants the ball at his feet most of the time.
Agreed. But Lingard's selection was on Mourinho's hands which he did not make

You guys gotta be happier than us City fans

Another game we dominated and didn't win. It really is getting tedious now.

I agree to some extent, although I really doubt it would have made much difference if Pogba played.

We clearly were happy with a point and I think Jose would have set us up to counter attack (ineffectively) regardless.

Really annoyed with Fellaini too. What was he thinking? Yes Aguero dived and made an absolute 5 course meal of it, but he shouldn't be putting himself in that position in the first place.

In a way, I wish we went out looking for a win and lost.

I miss the old Man United.

Ferguson would have done the exact same tonight.

If we had went all out, we would have lost three nil. Fact.

Mourniho got it spot on. We just need to be more clinical.

I disagree, I felt we really missed Pogba tonight. He hasn't been a world beater here yet, but he does give us a presence in midfield and can be a dominating figure, swap him with Fellaini and even ignoring the red card I think we do more in the game.
It's possible but unlikely given our reluctance to commit more players in attack.

Was as clear a headbutt as there is.. Didn't matter what Arguero did Fellaini headbutted him

If you think that's a headbutt then you've been wrapped in cotton wool your whole life.

He tilted his head down and Aguero walked into him. Aguero played him.

Yeah i thought he was one of our better players besides that.
Best going forward (not that its much of an achievement with how poor the rest were)
He made alot of good interceptions and tackles tonight I thought, but was caught in possesion once or twice although he was far from the only one.

I think that was the only result we could get tonight. No attacking intention at all. All we had was park the bus and the big boot up the pitch. Fellaini should be kicked out. Nutting another player is a disgrace. Mourinho will need to bring in 5-6 players if we are to make a fist of the league next season. Chelsea at home and the 1-0 against Spurs we have been poor against the top 4.
Christ..

Considering the money was spent on players out injured your post is pointless

I'm sure your post made more sense in your head. We have invested heavy in recent times, I made reference to woodward because he's presided over transfers during this period, yet our squad is still pretty poor quality wise imo. Also, many of our recent buys were on the pitch btw.

I disagree that we have the strongest squad in the league and I wasn't talking about the "league", you were the one that framed it as. My first post was that considering the amount of money we spent, we lack quality in the squad and that woodward should have a look at it.

Good that we both agree we are lacking when it comes to the highest level.

yes, because saying our squad lacks quality is such a ludicrous comment that infers I want a WC back up XI. don't quote or reply to me with nonsense again please.

I'll leave it there mate. We got a point and we can agree to differ on the squad

A big problem in this game was the midfield play. They couldn't hold the ball, they couldn't transit play into attack. All they did was just try to stop the opposition. Fellaini and Mikhi were particularly poor in this regard. This was supposed to be Mikhi's game but he bungled it. Same thing he did in the reverse fixture.

And Martial? Goodness me, he was so inconsistent. Very disappointing. Tonight made me wonder about him. We really need re-enforcements.

Darmian was also no good beyond purely defending. He offered nothing going forward. Valencia also had a very average game. He lacked composure and almost got the team into trouble a few times.

Eric Bailly. Take a bow.

Congrats on the point, keeps your right in the hunt. Its clear we were the better team but you guys defended really well, with numbers and in the end we got Jose'd. In truth despite 70% possession and 19 shots, only Aguero's was a really good chance, the rest half chances and you guys had 2 great chances through Herrera and Bravo setting up Mkhi. We unfortunately had another one of those home games that you've had many of where we just either messed up the final ball or hit a poor shot.

I thought your back 4 was excellent as 2 of them are probably 2nd choice, Herrera and Fellaini very disciplined before Fellaini's madness and Carrick very composed and kept you marshalled well. Martial seems to have listened and started working hard and I thought Rashford was brilliant.

For us another of those games where Kun had a 5/10 when we need an 8. KDB and big Yaya magnificent.
Fernandinho should have been booked as should Otter early, had they been I think the ref would have better control of the entire game.
Cowardly and not something I like to see from Aguero but Fellaini only has himself to blame and I'm sure one of your guys would do the same in reverse. Still not something I like to see, cynical as hell and ruins the game.

Take the point.

As good as we were defensively, City didn't look particularly at it.

Fellaini, if you're going to commit to headbutting someone... actually headbutt them - floor them, don't let them fall of their own accord.

Canny, but embarrassing from Aguero. Their both tossers.

Yea even if we had a full roster he would have played the same way and correctly so.

I think some fans are naive. We are never going to beat city 3-0 in city. If we do its a freak result.

Good point earned.
Aye, it's a decent point for you guys, still think it suits us more though. Fairly typical Mourinho mindset against a rival away from home, shouldn't really be a surprise.
At OT, with an unbiased ref, bravo would've sent off for two-footed challenge. Not convinced that's a valid excuse.
Or Zlatan could've been sent off for splitting Otamendi's head open with an elbow..? Not quite sure what your point is; that a debatable decision didn't go United's way & that's why a much weakened City team dominated at Old Trafford?

I'm not being a dick, you guys clearly set up for a draw today, wasn't the fault of a weakened team, was tactical by the manager.
